About Mary Brown
Hello! We are Mary and Henry Brown, the owners. We live in London and have a wonderful team of people in St Ives who help us to take care of Barnoon and Seabirds House. Henry looks after any issues with the building, and I manage the bookings. I really enjoy the contact with our guests - many regulars feel like friends even when all the contact has been by email. Apart from St Ives and family, our main interest is sailing - in a dinghy on the Thames and a bigger boat on the sea.

Why Mary Brown chose Saint Ives
In 1998 we bought a little flat in Barnoon Terrace, having fallen in love with St Ives, and the view. We let it as well as using it ourselves from the start. Then we saw another property just up the hill which was in a very sorry state indeed. We bought it and had the inside completely rebuilt, turning the original 7 flatlets into the 5 lovely flats of Seabirds House, taking full advantage of the position. The position is great - less than 5 minutes down to Porthmeor beach or the harbour, or the shops of the pretty little town.

A wonderfully positioned studio flat with stunning views
This is a perfect base from which to enjoy the sights and sounds of the seaside and to explore St Ives and the surrounding area. The flat is well-appointed and comfortable with plenty of hot water. Most memorable of all are the views in all directions as you eat or relax. We returned feeling truly refreshed and hope to return.
It was tidy and clean with a fantastic view of St Ives
It was a short 3 night stay in a convenient location approximately 5 minutes from the quay at St Ives.
There was a council car park just a 100 yards away, reasonably priced.
The flat was clean and tidy on our arrival and the bed was comfortable.
We had no occasion to use the cooking facilities as we frequented the local restaurants of which there were many. Some restaurants were undergoing renovation before the seasons really starts but there was still plenty to choose from.
Overall a very enjoyable stay with a fantastic view.

The best views in St Ives
The property was clean and simply furnished with everything we needed provided. We were a little puzzled initially by the fold-up bed which was neatly incorporated in the storage unit! However once we had found it, we discovered it was quite comfortable and we loved sitting up in it in the morning watching the sun come up over the bay. The views from the large bay window were fantastic which was the main reason why we selected the property in the first place.

Fabulous view, short walk to harbor; the apartment tidy, the bed comfy and THE VIEW!!!
A 4 minute walk takes you down to the beautiful sandy expanse of Porthmeor surf beach. There's a surf school, surf board and wetsuit hire and a good cafe. The St Ives Tate Gallery overlooks the beach. From there you can walk across or around the headland known as "the Island" to Porthgwidden beach. Less than 5 minutes in the other direction and you are at the picturesque harbour, with its lovely clean sandy beach at low tide. It's a steep climb back up, so that may take you longer!
St Ives can be reached easily by train. Many mainline trains from London stop at St Erth from where there is a charming little branch line along the coast to St Ives with a frequent service. It's a spectacular way to approach the town! Seabirds is a 15 minute walk from the station or there are plenty of local taxis.
There is a small airport at Newquay, 30 miles away.
From west of London, including Heathrow, it is a 5-6 hour drive.
