Located in the quiet village of Husthwaite offering accommodation for 6 people in 3 ensuite double bedrooms. Lovely views of the Hambleton Hills. A large, well equipped fitted dining kitchen on the ground floor, with patio doors to a paved terrace area. Upstairs is a large landing with a desk and seating, a large sitting room with tv and an electric stove and comfortable seating, with lovely views to the White Horse on the Hambleton Hills. Easingwold is the nearest small town (about 3 miles away) with plenty of shops, cafes, pubs, banks etc. There are many good pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area for those in need of a rest from cooking. The village pub is the Plum and Partridge and has reopened after major renovations and is a short walk from Colton Loft. Please note that the rear patio is enclosed and gated, but there is a pond in the garden beyond, so small children and pets will need supervising at all times.

About Yasmina Macalister

I bought and converted the property in 2012. It was originally a Wesleyan Church Hall and is located next to my home - so I am always available to help visitors if needed.

Yasmina Macalister purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Yasmina Macalister chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

I bought the property because it is in the village where I have lived for 25 years and is in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. The village is quiet and peaceful but within easy reach of many interesting areas and places to visit. We are surrounded by lovely countryside and the view from the cottage is towards the Hambleton Hills and the White Horse at Kilburn.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is conveniently located for visiting all the attractions Yorkshire has to offer. Visitors seem to like the setting, the decor and the fact that all bedrooms are ensuite.

PLEASE NOTE Owners Direct are now charging a service fee of almost 10% to holidaymakers. Please feel free to contact me direct on y.macalister@gmail.com or 01347868574

Excellent 3 bedroom conversion, fully equipped.

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as described in the listing. The three bedroom en suite accommodation was ideal for our party and there was a well equipped kitchen/dining area including washing machine and dish washer. The property was very clean and well maintained. It was ideally located, in a lovely quiet village, for visiting York and the many local attractions. There was a pretty garden where we sat out to enjoy the view of the Kilburn horse. The owner made herself available if we had any issues without in any way intruding. There was off street parking for one car but street parking isn't an issue. We would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Spacious "top notch" well kept cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many cottages over the years and this one is the best! Fabulous to have 3 doubles all ensuite, we were a party of 6 adults so perfect!

Immaculate furniture, tasteful decor and comfy beds and plenty of space for unpacking and the storing luggage. Very well equipped kitchen, a real home from home, didn't need to take anything with us, even milk in the fridge. Spotlessly clean, excellent quality linens. Spacious layout and view from lounge of the White Horse. Ample parking, great location for Yorkshire Moors and famous cities, we hope to be back! Thank you Yasmina for your pretty fragrant sweet peas and hospitality. Highly recommend.

Lovely, all we had expected and more

  • 5 of 5

This property was as good as the description and even better.

The directions were very clear and we were given a warm welcome by Yasmina. Teapot and snacks awaited us on the kitchen table. Yasmina is the ideal owner - providing information and near at hand when needed but not intrusive.

This property is a really good conversion - a feeling of spaciousness and light (particularly on the upper floor). All furnishings are of a high standard with very comfortable seating and beds. The kitchen was well equipped but there was also cupboard space for our food etc. The upstairs lounge was lovely to relax in at the end of a busy day. Having three ensuite bedrooms was ideal to accommodate our two adult relatives who joined for some of the week. Everywhere was clean and tidy, we were able to settle in immediately.

There was plenty of information on the area in the cottage. We only scratched the surface of possible activities, there was so much within easy reach. We walked to the neighbouring village of Coxwold (really picturesque) and would recommend the beef rolls at the Fauconberg Arms there. We enjoyed sunny days in both Whitby and Scarborough - the journey over the moors to Whitby is a lovely way to approach and both were easy trips. Kilburn was well worth the visit - the "Mouseman" musem and workshops are really interesting, the cafe there sells good quality lunches and the walk on the ridge above the White Horse was well worth the climb. We enjoyed the "foodie" delights and castle at Helmsley, another lovely, larger, village. Courtesy of the local knowledge of relatives, we finished this day off with afternoon tea at Ampleforth College. The tea was really good value with "proper" sized sandwiches! Finally, a wet afternoon was spent discovering only a little of all that York has to offer - an easy journey from Husthwaite.

We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope we might be able to visit again.

Great place to stay - Remote and Roomy

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 7 night stay in Husthwaite, the property is very well equipped and spacious. We found the location to be ideal, as close to York and only an hours drive to the coast. If you are seeking somewhere quiet to relax and explore Yorkshire, then Colton Loft is an excellent choice.
