About the property

Chalet Clementine's offers Stunning views of the Belledonne Mountains in one of the best skiing, and hiking areas of the Alps. Free WiFi

The chalet is part of an exclusive development of 33 detached chalets tucked away in a quiet corner of Oz en Oisans, part of Alpe d'Huez ski resort, at 1350 metres. There is an entrance hall on the first floor with ski and boot rack and plenty of hooks to hang your coats. This leads to a large open plan room with fireplace. Two patio doors lead onto a balcony which we have extended to run around two sides of the chalet and offers a great space to sit, with wonderful uninterrupted mountain views. At the other end of the room is a large dining table seating 10. Round the corner there is a kitchen from which double patio doors provide another access to the extended balcony which has outdoor seating and a table which seats six comfortably and offers more wonderful views. On the ground floor are three bedrooms and from the lounge, steps lead to a fourth mezzanine bedroom, with restricted height at one end. The resort of Oz en Oisans, which is part of L'Alpe Duez Grande Domain is particularly suited to families, with most of the village pedestrianized and peaceful. The chalet is perfect for both winter and summer holidays. Oz en Oisans is a quiet resort, but with a fast ski lift connection to Alpe d'Huez and Vaujany offers great access and a huge ski area to explore. in the summer during July and august the resort of Oz en Oisans comes alive again providing a fantastic summer family experience.

About Gary Smith

About the owners

We are an English couple who have been skiing in and around Oz for over nine years.

We purchased Chalet Clementine in 2014 with the aim to provide our guests a luxury self catering chalet for them to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay in the resort, whilst enjoying all the outdoor activities Oz en Oisans and the surrounding area of Alpe d'Huez Grand domain have to offer.

We spend the winter and summer seasons in Oz, so we will normally be onsite to personally welcome our guests. When required we use the services of a local multilingual person to greet our guests out of season. This is the only rental property we own in France so it is very much a labour of love.

We have extensively upgraded the furnishings and kitchen in the summer of 2014, installed stairs to access the drag lift in 2015 and extended the balcony in 2016 and plan further improvements to the mezzanine area in 2017.

Gary Smith purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Gary Smith chose Isere

We have four children who love the outdoor life Oz en Oisans offers, whether it is winter sports or summer activities. The Oz / Alpe d'Heuze resort provide the perfect backdrop for a mountain holiday. Alpe d'Heuz is large enough to offer all the skiing terrain you need but Oz is small enough to retain a relaxing safe family atmosphere.

Oz has a supermarket, restaurants, sports shops, bars, a heated indoor swimming pool and a spa area with whirlpool, sauna and steam room, a climbing wall and an outdoor ice-rink in the winter.

Oz is a charming family resort nestled at 1350m in the heart of Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski, Oz has all the charm and authenticity of a family resort.

We hope you enjoy staying at our chalet as much as we do living in Oz.

What makes this chalet unique

The property is located only 20m from the Clos du Pre drag lift, which can now be accessed by a short flight of steps, so it is a virtually ski in ski out location. It is close to the Ozzie bar and restaurant and only a short distance to the resort centre where you can find a supermarket, more bars, restaurants and shops.

It is not suitable for the elderly or anybody with mobility restrictions, but is perfect for families who want to be based in a safe environment, offering stunning views and facilities to provide both a little apres ski and home family comfort.

We allowed our children to spend most of their time on the baby slopes and toboggan run with minimal supervision both during the day and early evening.

Vehicle access terminates at the edge of the village, so the resort is essentially pedestrian only.

Heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at chalet Clementine for 12 days of summer holidays.

Gary welcomed us really nice and gave us a great introduction into the chalet. He has explained to us the individual functions. He was always available when we needed him. The chalet has everything you need. In the area there are many leisure activities.

From the first moment we were speechless of the view and the nature. It was amazing. A great region with great people and a great host.

We will come back. That's for sure. Thanks for all Gary.

Good house in area with beautifull nature

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice stay in OZ. Beautifull view from the house. Good possibilities for walking direct from the house. For example with the many cable routes. We had also enough other things to do in villages nearby. It takes 10 minutes with the car to go down the mountain, but then its possible to choose several directions to explore. It was a place of rest. In the morning we walked to the bakery to buy bread. In the evening we went swimming for free in the hotel in OZ. Little remark, you have to take four stairs to the house each time, but you get used to it :)

Just lovely!

  • 5 of 5

Everything you see and read about this gorgeous chalet is what you get then...a lot more than you expected. It was clean and very comfortable. We were really delighted to see it 'for real' on arrival and found absolutely everything we needed.

The description was accurate about the location, layout and facilities. We were very lucky to have had a beautiful week of sunshine and spent every afternoon outside on the veranda. The chalet was clean and very well maintained. The owners, Gary and Jan, met us from our transfer from Grenoble, they showed us around the chalet and made sure we knew where to buy our provisions and where best to eat out.

I would recommend this chalet to anyone that I know and hope if you are reading this you will trust that it is value for money.

A perfect place to spend a family holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the chalet, our first family ski holiday with our grandchildren. The chalet was lovely and comfortable a home from home. It had everything we needed, even a welcome pack to get us started on our first day which was very much appreciated. The views were amazing, it was quiet and peaceful. Gary and Jan were very friendly and could not do enough for us. I cannot wait to go back again.

Beautiful, homely and cosy chalet!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for one week in March 2017.

Fantastic, spacious apartment located conveniently just a short flight of stairs from a button lift which you can then ski down from, to the lift Poutran, up the mountain.

The apartment was very clean and spacious with great amenities. We were a party of 6 and benefited from the large open plan, kitchen, dining and living area. There is a large fire and the owners had left us plenty of fire wood so that we could easily light it after skiing each day. Kitchen pantry cupboards were well stocked with spices and other essentials which meant we could easily cook large meals each evening.

It is clear that the owners have spent time creating a cosy, homely environment for their guests. Little details like fur rugs to snuggle under, a chess board and a great selection of board games and DVD's offered plenty of options for us to relax each evening.

The chalet is also perfectly situated between the trees offering fantastic views down into the valley and the neighboring mountains. There is a wrap around balcony with benches and chairs so we could enjoy a beer and watch the sunset each evening.

Final thing to mention is that the beds are super comfy, it was difficult to get up each morning!

Would thoroughly recommend!

Great chalet for family stay

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Clementine was perfect for our family with teens. The chalet was very clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies and everything you could need. The beds and sofas were very comfortable and the chalet was cozy. The owners Gary and Jan were very welcoming and are right in town in case you need anything. The 2 main lifts out of Oz en Oisans take you straight to two major stations in the ski area. Since you are rights in the middle of the area it's easy to get around. The Alpe d'Huez area is wonderful to ski with enough variations for all levels. It's also great that there are 2 blue slopes on the highest peak that are fantastic to ski and then you can take the tram back down if needed. The views are fantastic. Oz en Oisans is not big but offers enough for the week. Ski rentals, ski storage options, groceries, restaurants, great pizzas and a great bakery! Thanks Gary and Jan for giving us a home for the week.
