About Penelope Wood
I am Cornish and have lived in St Ives for about 30 years.
Penelope Wood purchased this House in 1996
Why Penelope Wood chose St Ives
This house has been a family home for the last 18 years, we hope that it still retains a family atmosphere. The house is just a short walk from the beach, cliff walks and the town centre. There are views down towards the sea, and the most glorious sunsets. Parking for two cars, directly opposite the house.
What makes this House unique

Great house in a great location
We had a fantastic time, the house is in the perfect position, sea views, very close to the beach and the town center.
Everything we'd hoped for any more!
Porthmeor View was spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. The position for Porthmeor beach, the Tate Gallery and loads of restaurants etc was excellent. We particularly liked that you didn't have to drive through St Ives centre to get to the house and back out. We managed to park two large estate cars and a Clio in the parking space provided which saved about £7 per car a day and the car parks were all full! The owners were in touch by text after we arrived to check everything was alright and were easy to email beforehand with little questions. We have already recommended the house to a friend who is planning to go next year! A great success with all the family. We will definitely be coming back.
Lovely and comfirtable
This is a really well looked after house. Every room is comfortable and it has all the mod cons and facilities you could need. The parking is a big bonus in St Ives. The back garden is a glorious sun trap and the garden at the front is very secluded and pretty. It is a 10 min walk to the Harbour beach, which is where we spent most of our time. The owner was very helpful and welcoming.
We would definitely stay again.
Family Summer Holiday
Excellent location-walking distance to beaches and town centre. Don't be put off by the hill- its 5 mins on the way down and a bit longer on the way back. House was clean and well presented and had everything you could need for a family holiday. Penny was very helpful with the booking arrangements and allowing us in early on our start day. I would highly recommend this property- you won't be disappointed.
Our first words were 'WOW'
I booked Porthmeor View to stay with friends and two young children, and we weren't disappointed! It's always a bit nerve-wracking booking accommodation for a group but I shouldn't haven't worried. When everyone walked through the door, the words were 'WOW'.
Even the adults were like kids as they walked through the house taking in the views from the sitting room and front bedrooms, the nifty gadgets like the coffee machine, ice machine in the fridge, big oven and a dishwasher - no arguments over washing up!
The dinning room soon became a lego room during the day and a great place to sit and have long meals in the evening. Each bedroom was beautifully decorated, spacious with good sized wardrobes and touches like digital radios. And the kitchen had every pot, pan and utensil you could need.
Location-wise you couldn't get better - a five minute walk to the harbour, a 2-3 minute walk to the stunning Porthmeor beach.
It's clear that Penny and Ian have lovingly created this holiday home - there really is everything you need to keep everyone happy (big and small). I'm certainly missing being able to throw back the curtains and watching the surfers in the distance bobbing up and down on the waves first thing in the morning! Thank you for making our stay wonderful!
Dear Vicki, Thank you very much for completing the review. Your remarks are very kind, and very much appreciated. We hope that perhaps in the future you will be able to stay with us again.
Kind Regards Ian and Penny
