Beautifully equipped and furnished duplex apartment in former waterworks building. Full of character and benefiting from its own outdoor patio and separate undercover atrium. High quality furnishings and fittings and a wonderful base for outdoor activity or visits to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, and even Sheffield and Manchester using the Hope Valley Railway which runs through the village. The nearest pub is the Yorkshire Bridge Inn, directly opposite with several other pubs, restaurants and cafes being close at hand. Outdoor lido for summer swimming in nearby Hathersage and mile upon mile of fantastic countryside. The Ladybower Reservoir is adjacent to the building and the Derwent Dam, where the Dambusters Raid was famously practised is a short distance away.

About Sarah Richards

My husband and I live in Dorset and seem to be attracted to counties with names beginning with "D"! Both holiday properties being close to reservoirs is another strange coincidence.

We have always loved Devon. My husband spent much of his formative years in Devon and I was regularly visiting relatives who lived in county. We became fond of Derbyshire more recently and decided to buy a holiday home there. The apartment could not be better - arriving there always fills us with a deep feeling of relaxation. We have two daughters who both learned to ride at the riding school close to the Devon cottage. We love wildlife and the natural surroundings of both properties with the huge bonus of being able to walk out direct from the door across miles of beautiful Devon or Derbyshire countryside.

Why Sarah Richards chose South Yorkshire

The Hope Valley is a beautiful part of the Peak District. We initially went there having visited Chatsworth and generally exploring the area. One of the great advantages is being right at the heart of tremendous scenery and walking country but also being able to visit many villages as well as Sheffield and Manchester for their galleries, theatres and shops with ease.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is one of the very few in the building which has its own exclusive outside space in the form of a generous patio. consequentially when inside the apartment you fell as though you are in a house. Comments from guests who have previously stayed in the other apartments centre on the superior quality and style of the furniture, fittings and equipped in ours. There is a pub directly opposite which is great for a first evening meal on arrival after a long journey.

Travel:

Manchester airport is 33 miles drive away and is reached either by car or the Hope Valley Railway via Manchester Piccadilly station.

Whilst it would be possible to get around on public transport use of a car is recommended in order to be able to enjoy the wealth of beautiful and interesting attractions in the area.

Distances:

Bamford village centre is 1 mile away. Hathersage is 3 miles away. Multiple Hope Valley villages such as Castleton and Hope are along the Hope Valley Railway route (and a short drive away) and the railway station is just over a mile away in Bamford. Sheffield is 11 miles away and has wonderful galleries and theatres. Chatsworth is 12.5 miles away and its Farm Shop should not be missed!

Further Details:

Bamford has a small general store and bakery, a community run pub and cafe and one other pubs (which is opposite the apartment building). Nearby Hathersage has several outdoor equipment shops, takeaways, restaurants, cafes and pubs. There are also banks and a pharmacy in Hathersage.

The aspect is over the garden at the rear of the building and from there when enjoying a cup of tea in the morning you may see rabbits grazing and a large variety of birds. Bedroom 2 is downstairs with 2 large single beds and built in wardrobe. It looks onto the atrium where we have a table and chairs for that quiet cup of coffee with your daily newspaper!

Outside: The building has a large car park within which the apartment has its own designated space with additional visitor parking. This apartment is one of the few in the building which has its own patio and rustic garden area. There is a wooden table and 4 chairs for use on the patio. The atrium is equipped with a bistro table and two chairs and makes a nice place to read the paper with a coffee in the mornings! The bike store is accessed from outside by security code. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen, towels and bath mats included along with tea towels and oven gloves. Other: Hallway with built in wardrobe for coats and boots.Communal gym. Lockable communal bike store.

Refundable damage deposit $263.78

Booking Notes:
50% deposit upon booking. Balance due 6 weeks prior to commencement of stay. £200 refundable security deposit by cheque (which will not be banked unless needed) no later than a fortnight before the commencement date.

Changeover Day:
Changeover is on Fridays with arrival from 4pm and departure by 10am.

For bookings made more than 6 weeks in advance 50% of the rental secures the booking. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to the start date. At least 3 weeks prior to the start date payment of the security deposit is required in the form of a cheque which will not be banked unless it is needed. Upon receipt of that cheque directions and access details are issued.
