In which ever direction you look at Higher Lee, your eyes are met with the breathtaking beauty - the exquisite 17th-century façade, the beautifully maintained formal gardens, the willow maze, the gently bubbling stream. For children, the 2 acre garden enclosed by dry stone walls offers a self-contained paradise to explore (younger guests should be supervised at the stream). Beyond the garden, the majestic beauty of the Trough of Bowland lies waiting to be discovered. And if that isn't enough, Lake Windermere is less than an hour's drive away.

A perfect country house.
By day two we were planning to return to this lovely house set in the Trough Of Bowland. It was a family gathering and the house felt like one of the family by the time we left. The setting is wonderful, so quite, with lovely views. The garden is just perfect. The house has its own personality with a roaring log fire for cold days (along with the arga in the kitchen) and cool corners for warm days (we had a wide range of weather whilst we were there). This is a place that will be in our hearts for years to come.
A thirty minute drive from the coast
Manchester airport is 1 hour away, Lancaster station is 20 mins but the use of a car is essential as location is remote
Lancaster is the nearest town (8 miles away) and has a wide range of shops, restaurants, banks and supermarkets. There are several highly recommended pubs in the area including the Inn at Whitewell. The house is nestled in the Trough of Bowland which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is only a 45 minute drive from the Lake District.
