Lochside Victorian Villa in Kilchrenan, Nr. Oban, Argyll, Scotland with Hot Tub - A unique loch side location and stunning Victorian house in the Western Highlands of Scotland
About Scott Gibson
My wife and I live in central Edinburgh with our 6 'twenty something' year old children. We have owned the house for over 18 years now and over the years have enjoyed many happy holidays and short breaks/long weekends with family and friends at this beautiful loch side house. Achnasmeorach House is where we 'get away from it all' and where we chill........and all within a minutes walk of the shore and 12 minutes walk of one of the best Gastro Pubs in the Western Highlands of Scotland, the Kilchrenan Inn which we also own and which has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The house has everything you could expect of a family home and is a real 'home from home'. The reviews from pervious guests say it all really.
Scott Gibson purchased this Villa in 2002
Why Scott Gibson chose Taynuilt
The house enjoys an exceptional loch side position with its own private shoreline, jetty, boathouse, slipway and 7 seater hot tub! Surrounded by the dramatic and wonderful scenery of Argyll with magnificent Ben Cruachan as a backdrop and stunning views across Loch Awe, this Victorian house is furnished to an extremely high standard in a contemporary style and offers everything required to create a relaxing and memorable short break or vacation. We are also within walking distance of one of the best pub/restaurants in the West Highlands, which reopened on October 2016 following it's first major refurbishment in over 40 years! The house has the space and facilities for all age groups. With plenty of living space, a wonderful large garden and a unique location making it perfect for special occasions, memorable gatherings and short breaks for groups of family or friends. Over the past few years we have invested heavily in the house making it, in our opinion, one of.........if not the most luxurious of Scottish holiday homes currently available on the market as a holiday house. The Drawing Room and Family TV Rooms have both been upgraded only this past year. You will not be disappointed.
What makes this Villa unique
The stunning views, the shoreline and the magnificent scenery are what make the situation of this house truly unique. On the one hand it is in a relatively remote location offering peace and quiet, however the house is only a short walk from the village centre and the newly refurbished Kilchrenan Inn, a unique gastro pub with over 50 covers plus a wonderful bar fully stocked with your favourite Scottish Gins and Whiskies. The house is also close by the Taychreggan Hotel which offers a 2 AA Rosette dining experience. The Ardenasaig Hotel, which offers a 3 AA Rosette dining experience is only a 5 minute drive away and Taynuilt Inn (2AA Rosette) is 10 minutes drive away. The nearest village, Taynuilt has a train station, a 9 hole golf course, Post Office, tea room, Taynuilt Inn (excellent restaurant/pub 2AA), grocers and butchers is a 15 minute drive. The nearest main town, Oban has great shops including a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, FatFace, Marks & Spencers Food, Homebase, Argos, New Look, Boots, Specsavers, Waterstones Books, WH Smith, Costa Coffee, Wetherspoons plus many other local shops and restaurants such as GelatoBurger, Cuan Mhor, La Piazza, FishHouse, Eeusk, Coast and Etive to name but a few. The town also boasts the Oban Distillery, a harbour, the main Ferry terminal to the inner and outer Hebridian Islands, a train station, swimming pool, a micro brewery, and an 18 hole golf course. Oban is also has some amazing restaurants and calls itself the Sea Food Capital of Scotland. Oban airport is less than half an hours drive away giving quick and inexpensive access by plane to many of the inner and outer hebridean Islands.

The property was fantastic, and the views are incredible. Scott was kind enough to let us have our wedding here and it was the perfect intimate setting for us. The facilities are great and there is plenty to do to keep occupied. We will definitely return in the future.
In awe at Loch Awe!
We had an amazing time at Achnasmeorach House. It exceeded our expectations and had everything we needed for our group weekend away.
We loved the tub, views, games room, dining room, garden and so much more.
Scott was very friendly and easy to deal with.
We plan on returning soon!
Beautiful Holiday Home!
This is not just a holiday house, but has a great sense of home. We all loved it for that, as it isnt always easy to keep everyone happy all at once! The layout is fabulous, and gives a great sense of space, but cosy at the same time. There is something for everyone here, and well thought out with everyone in mind. We loved it, the views, the peace and quite, and down at the jetty, where you can fish, go kayaking, canoeing, and much more, or just sit by the loch side and enjoy the views. The owners couldn't be more helpful and pleasant, going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We liked it so much we would love to return! Thank you for such an enjoyable time!
We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to our wonderful holiday home on the shores of Loch Awe. We know exactly what you mean when you say that the house is not just a holiday house and feels more like a home. We feel exactly the same, indeed, we sometimes feel that it has more of a 'home' feel about it than our own home!
I am glad you were able to take full advantage of all the facilities the house has to offer; the hot tub, the foreshore, the games cabin and all the wonderful living space with fantastic views. It is just a pity that the amazing Kilchrenan Inn wasn't open during your visit but it will be when you next return!!
Thanks again for choosing to holiday with us and we look forward to welcoming you back again sometime soon.
Perfect place to escape from the city
We were a group of 10 Londoners who wanted to escape the city and celebrate Christmas together and all agreed we couldn't have found a better place to do so!
The house and its surroundings exceeded our expectations.
The house was so warm and inviting and had been decorated for christmas.
It was very clean and well equipped, particularly when it came to cooking and eating all together. The Aga was a joy to use and there was plenty of crockery, the double dishwashers were most appreciated!
The jetty gave us the perfect place to enjoy breathtaking sunrises and camp fires at dusk. Those of us brave enough also enjoyed kayaking out on the loch.
The house was big enough for everyone to have space to themselves if they wanted it but still felt very cosy.
The games room has a lot to offer and saw much competition.
Scott was very helpful with suggestions and answered all our questions quickly. I would recommend a stay here to anyone reading and hope to stay here again myself at some point in the future.
Very comfortable house in glorious surroundings
We were 8 adults and 2 babies staying at Achasmeorach House. We found it clean, very well equipped, warm and with plenty of hot water. The games room and hot tub were much enjoyed. The views from the house of the loch are glorious. Scott, the owner, was helpful and responsive to all questions. Many thanks.
Beautiful house and surrounds. The owner was super helpful and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Thank you. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our wonderful holiday house on the shores of Loch Awe. It is a special place which we are only too happy to share with people like yourselves who appreciate it.
We look forward to welcoming you back again sometime soon.
The house benefits from it's own shoreline with unforgettable views. Day long barbecues and picnics can be enjoyed on the decking around the boathouse and children will delight at the opportunity to jump off the pier or take advantage of the private fishing rights on the loch. The jetty and slipway are ideal for those who wish to bring their own boat. Boats can be rented nearby. 3 Canoes/Kayaks and life jackets are provided for your use as well as some fishing equipment. 2 BBQ's are provided.
A car is not essential but desirable.
Taynuilt train station, which is on the famous West Coast line from Glasgow is only 15 minutes drive away. Taxi collections can be arranged.
Glasgow is 2 hours drive away and Edinburgh 2 hours 20 minutes drive away both through extremely scenic countryside. Why not make this journey part of your holiday by stopping at the various villages and hotels en route.
