Mature, tendered garden with patio and picnic table for enjoying the peaceful surroundings and space to play cricket or boules.

WIFI available in cottage.

A stroll down the rough track past the retired horses into the village of Coverack with its chocolate box thatched cottages. Coverack is still a gem as an unspoilt and undeveloped fishing village which boasts a beautiful golden sandy beach and shallow turquoise sea.

We enjoy a pint from the pub and fresh fish and chips on the harbour wall catching the setting sun. The kids enjoy bomb diving off the harbour, going to the park, hiring out the windsurfers, paddle boards and kayaks or just picking up sea glass.

Mowhay is 3/4 mile down through the Lizard Peninsula Nature Reserve and the track is rough and unmade and only used by residents of Polcoverack.

There is plenty to explore just 20 minutes drive in any direction, quiet estuaries, noisy Theme Parks, Natural Trust houses, Museums, Goonhilly Earth Station, wild ponies on the moors lots of quiet tucked away coves and the glorious coastal footpaths. Hire a boat or go on a chartered fishing trip.

Feed back from guests in 2014:

April 2014: G.H said " We had a wonderful week, Mowhay was clean and comfortable for us all to enjoy ourselves. A great base to explore The Lizard. Thank you. The kids loved tree climbing in the garden."

May 2014 J.M said "We had a lovely holiday. Mowhay is beautiful. Tastefully decorated and specious and clean . The village is unspoilt and lovely. Thanks"

Half term . we had a fantastic time! The weather was actually pretty good, we seemed to miss all the forecasted rain

We fell in love with Kynance Cove and swam twice in the sea there (without wet suits!!), had a go at kayaking and paddle boarding down with Robin, rockpooling in Coverack found bats at sunset and finally caught crabs (eventually in Porthleven, there seems to be no fish/crabs biting this year, we were wondering if it was the storms earlier in the year? everyone had the same problem but said last year was fine). We also had icecream at Roskilly's and fish & chips in the harbour (think thats most holiday things covered!!).

As for the cottage, it was lovely. The extension is a really lovely space. Loved the heart stones, added some and got me looking so we've started our own collection.

Kids want to come back.. how much is it in August?

About Debbietrelawny@talktalk.net

Giles and Debbie are a professional couple working in education and have owned Mowhay since 2008. They have updated and extended the cottage creating a light and spacious, yet cosy cottage that has character and is a restful place to stay. They are proud of their cottage and spend several weeks staying there with their 4 children so they know what equipment and furniture is needed to make it a home from home.

With family connections in the area they have a wealth of information about The Lizard to share.

The cottage manager lives locally and is on hand if needed.

Debbietrelawny@talktalk.net purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Debbietrelawny@talktalk.net chose Lizard Peninsula

Giles family are born and bred in this part of Cornwall and they bought this lovely stone built barn conversion as an investment for their children. Coverack offers a little of everything for everyone so that the kids have some independence and freedom and the adults have the restful unspoiled beauty of the area to appreciate. Mowhay is one of 5 converted barns and they form a self contained peaceful, rural hamlet just a few minutes walk from the golden sandy beach , shop , pub and harbour in Coverack.

To reach Mowhay you leave the main road and drive down an unmade track for 3/4 mile through the Lizard Nature Reserve with 180 degree views of the sea. Every-time breathtaking.WOW.

Mowhay is a great base for links to coastal footpaths from the doorstep and to explore the Lizard.

What makes this cottage unique

Unlike a lot of the properties in Coverack Mowhay benefits from a large garden and private parking by your door.

The new extension has been designed for comfort, light, space and easy to keep clean. The cottage has laminate, quarry and slate floors downstairs , leather sofas in both lounges. The partially glazed ceiling means you walk in and can see the mature trees from the ground all the way up to the top, you can sit and watch the barn owls, buzzards and garden birds from the comfort of the oak dining room Light the wood burner and add an extra challenge to keep those eyelids open in the evenings as you relax on the corner leather sofa.

The updated kitchen has all you have at home, including granite worktops.

Communal laundry room on situated in another building within the courtyard.

Hi Debbie

just wanted to let you know that we had a lovely week. You have a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It would have been nice to have a guest book to write in .

We will definately stay with you again if we are planning a holiday in the area and will recommend you and your cottage.

As for the cottage, it was lovely. The extension is a really lovely space. Only thoughts were more desert spoons and a guest book to share feedback and local knowledge. We singed the oven gloves so we replaced them. Loved the heart stones, added some and got me looking so we've started our own collection.
