A stroll down the rough track past the retired horses into the village of Coverack with its chocolate box thatched cottages. Coverack is still a gem as an unspoilt and undeveloped fishing village which boasts a beautiful golden sandy beach and shallow turquoise sea.
We enjoy a pint from the pub and fresh fish and chips on the harbour wall catching the setting sun. The kids enjoy bomb diving off the harbour, going to the park, hiring out the windsurfers, paddle boards and kayaks or just picking up sea glass.
Mowhay is 3/4 mile down through the Lizard Peninsula Nature Reserve and the track is rough and unmade and only used by residents of Polcoverack.
There is plenty to explore just 20 minutes drive in any direction, quiet estuaries, noisy Theme Parks, Natural Trust houses, Museums, Goonhilly Earth Station, wild ponies on the moors lots of quiet tucked away coves and the glorious coastal footpaths. Hire a boat or go on a chartered fishing trip.
Feed back from guests in 2014:
April 2014: G.H said " We had a wonderful week, Mowhay was clean and comfortable for us all to enjoy ourselves. A great base to explore The Lizard. Thank you. The kids loved tree climbing in the garden."
May 2014 J.M said "We had a lovely holiday. Mowhay is beautiful. Tastefully decorated and specious and clean . The village is unspoilt and lovely. Thanks"
Half term . we had a fantastic time! The weather was actually pretty good, we seemed to miss all the forecasted rain
We fell in love with Kynance Cove and swam twice in the sea there (without wet suits!!), had a go at kayaking and paddle boarding down with Robin, rockpooling in Coverack found bats at sunset and finally caught crabs (eventually in Porthleven, there seems to be no fish/crabs biting this year, we were wondering if it was the storms earlier in the year? everyone had the same problem but said last year was fine). We also had icecream at Roskilly's and fish & chips in the harbour (think thats most holiday things covered!!).
As for the cottage, it was lovely. The extension is a really lovely space. Loved the heart stones, added some and got me looking so we've started our own collection.
Kids want to come back.. how much is it in August?
