About Paul and Anna Slade
Hello, my name is Paul. My wife Anna and I have lived in the area for 25 years and have 3 teenage children. Having both been born in Devon, we have enjoyed the wonderful countryside the area has to offer, which inspired us to keep sheep, chickens and ducks. Both Anna and I have horticultural backgrounds, being a landscape gardener and florist by trade. We have designed and built a number of properties including cider barn, coach house, school and more recently an oak framed log cabin which we now live in. This then inspired us to build a south facing, cedar clad, glass fronted lodge which has spectacular views, making full use of the sun. So come and join us for a wonderful holiday in this unique location – you will never want to leave!
Paul and Anna Slade purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Paul and Anna Slade chose Sidmouth
The property is surrounded by mature trees and is adjoining Woodbury Commons. This allows us to take lovely long walks over the heathland where nightingales and the Dartford worblers can be seen. We are centrally located which makes it easy to reach the sea at Budliegh Salterton and Exmouth as well as Sidmouth, and only 10 minutes to Exeter. There are wonderful views of Dartmoor and Exeter which can be seen from the lodge. The site enjoys sunshine all day long as it is south facing and very sheltered. The site is quiet and removed from the
What makes this Cottage unique
The property is quiet, private and secure. We have 7 acres of land and keep sheep, ducks and chickens. We can sit peacefully beside our wildlife pond which is home to ducks, coots, dragonflies and danselflies, as well as carp and tench. With so much available locally such as pubs, farm shops, the beach and other tourist attractions, we can offer a place to escape either after a busy day or just relaxing in the front garden soaking up the sun.

An enjoyable holiday experience
An excellent contemporary house in a tranquil setting overlooking green fields. All fittings and furnishings to a high standard. The position is very handy for travelling to various points of interest such as Bicton gardens, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Exeter and the local golf club at Woodbury. Paul our host was very helpful, good to converse with and informative.
Would be more than happy to pay a return visit.
Thank you for your grate support
Fantastic lodge, perfect weekend!
We had a great long weekend here, the accomodation is beautiful, set in a very tranquil location with fantastic countryside views. Paul the host was very friendly and informative and the welcome pack was a lovely bonus. Would recommend!
Beautiful home from home
We were actually snowed in at this property! However, the lodge was a beautiful warm and cosy place to be stuck. Stunning views and felt like we were right in the middle of the countryside surrounded by sheep and lambs. Paul was a brilliant host who kept checking we were comfortable and offering help. We look forward to returning in the summer. Thoroughly recommend this.
Beautiful and Relaxing
The lodge is situated in a central location for all the East Devon attractions yet it is secluded so you feel you are away from it all. There are many excellent pubs in the area and we enjoyed many a Sunday roast! The view you wake up to is stunning - green fields, sheep, ducks and chickens. The lodge is very well equipped with everything you need - we were there for a month with 3 adults and 2 children. We stayed in November and found it to be a surprisingly warm house. The only issue we had was the internet, which we found was a problem in many of the local places and not unique to this property. Paul, our host, was ever helpful. Overall we really did enjoy our stay and look forward to returning again one day.
Perfectly clean, very practical, great welcome.
A lovely little lodge in great gardens, with lots to do nearby. Some caravans staying in same garden at times.
