Fantastic location, beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a fantastic week in this cottage. Beautiful peaceful location with wonderful wildlife on your doorstep! Our children loved waking up and watching the cows in the field. Ourselves, children and dogs were made very welcome by John and Jackie - perfect hosts! Great central location with Goathland, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay only a short drive away. The cottage itself was spotless when we arrived, it was very well equipped with everything we needed. My daughter loved the toys provided and didn't touch ours! Very comfy beds much appreciated after all the lovely long walks. Dogs loved the under floor heating :) Even a lovely bottle of wine chilling in the fridge on our arrival that was a lovely touch and much appreciated! Could not fault it, hope to return. Lisa and Paul Cambridgeshire.

Owner's Response: Paul & Lisa Thank you for choosing to stay at Greenlands Farm. It is always a pleasure to meet such a wonderful family. I would also like to thank you for your positive feedback and for leaving the cottage as you found it, clean and tidy with no evidence of our four legged friends. It was a huge help and much appreciated. If you would like a return visit then please don't hesitate to get in touch. Sending the very best of wishes. Jackie & John

Absolute Gem!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage really is a home from home that we would highly recommend. You want for nothing - the cottage is so well equipped. It was clean, warm, cosy and we will definitely be returning. Jackie and John were excellent hosts and happy to help in any way they could. It was an absolute joy to be able to go walking to Goathland or Grosmont from the door. No need for the car until we wanted to venture into Whitby. Excellent location, excellent facilities. A real gem away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thankyou Jackie and John for making our stay so comfortable. See you again!

Owner's Response: We're so pleased that our guests have enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the environment which we ourselves cherish so much. We realise that we are so off the beaten track but yet so close to the beautiful East coast and historic town of Whitby. We are happy that our guests find the cottages warm and comfortable after a days walking or sight seeing.

Ideal holiday getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property has everything you need for a holiday break, it's clean, tidy & well furnished & equipped. Having been to Whitby & surrounding areas over the years in a variety of different types of rentals / hotels I reckon this is one of the best I've encountered (and way above some I've had the misfortune to stay at) & has everything you could reasonably want. There is no sea view but you are surrounding by miles of unspoiled countryside.

Whitby can be a cold place if you're unlucky but even though this farm is located on the top above Sleights there was no chance of ever being cold with the insulation & log burner if needed.

We found the owners very friendly but not intrusively so - the location is very quiet even though Whitby is only 10 - 15 minutes drive away & it's location means it's also handy for Pickering / Kirkby Moorside & it's countryside. Goathland / Grosmont just down the road.

Also experienced a few dark skies - certainly worth a bit of star gazing with binoculars if there's no room for a telescope.

I seem to remember a previous review mentioning a tricky track to the farm - there is quite a long driveway (with a farm gate along the way) but the road itself looked as though it had been surfaced recently & is not rutted at all - no potholes (& being from Sheffield I know a thing or two about potholed roads).

The only slight moan was I couldn't get a wifi signal - my granddaughter could though - so if the internet is vital either buy an iPhone or make sure you've got data included on your phone (3G no problem)

Amazing Tranquil piece of Yorkshire - everything you need yet near everywhere you want to visit.

  • 5 of 5

Feel like I don't want to share this little gem of a place!

Beautiful cottage with everything you would want. Didn't get chance to use the lovely wood burning stove as weather just lovely too!

You feel like you have escaped from the hustle and bustle of life in this amazing little place - peaceful, amazing views, sunsets, cows, and sheep.

Kids could roam free outside whilst we enjoyed a glass or two enjoying the view.

Jackie and John were so friendly and helpful including providing an unexpected tractor ride.

We will return ...

Owner's Response: So nice to have guests who see the place as we, who live here, see it, that is, so close to the very popular historic town of Whitby and beautiful east coast yet tucked away in the hills, quiet, scenic and peaceful. We never tire of it nor take it for granted,
