About Sara Thomas

Richard and I have lived and worked near Falmouth for the last 30 years. I, Sara, personally supervise the running of Bunkers Cott, living about 45 minutes away. We have two children, our eldest is studying at University and our youngest still attends school. Richard has spent some time at the St. Ives School of Painting, choosing courses to challenge his creative and artistic side. A perfect escape when life becomes too hectic. We frequently visit ourselves. Not, being too far from home, we can enjoy fabulous cuisine, beaches and gentle cliff top walks when the mood takes us.

Sara Thomas purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Sara Thomas chose Saint Ives

We bought the property in 2010 as an escape from the usual stresses of our everyday lives, not wanting to be too far from home due to horses, chickens and dogs, St. Ives was a natural choice, we also wanted to give our children the opportunity of continuing to enjoy Cornwall, should we ever decide to move out too the area.

What makes this cottage unique

We chose the cottage because of it's location to the beaches, town and restaurants. Although positioned centrally to all amenities in the Downalong area of St. Ives, the property is a traditional cottage tucked away on the beautiful and cobbled Bunkers Hill with no passing traffic. The sun always seems to shine in St. Ives, there's always a buzz and being so close to the sea offers a certain excitement with the changing tides and beautiful beaches.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My friend and I recently stayed at Bunkers Cott between Christmas and New Year. It was the most charming cottage with a cosy sitting room, very well equipped kitchen, downstairs toilet, two bedrooms and en-suite. The owners provide you with all the mod cons you could ever possibly need during your stay together with the most generous welcome pack on arrival. Sara kept in touch prior and throughout the holiday to ensure everything was ok for us, she could not have been more helpful.

The cottage is superbly situated off Fore Street, a short walk from the Harbour where you have local shops, The Sloop Inn and numerous restaurants. New Year's Eve in St. Ives is something you will definately never forget (bring your fancy dress costume)!

I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation and will definately return.

If a score is required, I would score this 10.

Smashing Little Cottage in the centre of St Ives

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are frequent visitors to St Ives and booking Bunkers Cott for a short break away was a marvelous stroke of luck. Out the front door and you can be on the beach in St Ives in seconds. The cottage is very well maintained and spotlessly clean and communication from Sara, the owner, was amazing. I have no hesitation in recommending.

If looking for a nice place to eat in St Ives would recommend you take a look at St Andrew's Street Bistro.
