The Gables is set in a dainty English village in the rolling hills of Leicestershire. The house was built in the 1800s and has retained it's character over the years. It is unusually spacious and decorated to tastefully suit its era. The village doesn't even have street lights, and is a wonderful antidote to busy city life. The house has recently had extensive work done to it to bring it up to high standard.

About Madeleine Reeve
Our family lived in The Gables for nearly 10 years before having to return to New Zealand. We adored living in this beautiful part of the country and have many treasured memories in Gumley. We want to share this gorgeous village with those travelling to England and people who just want a break from busy life.
Madeleine Reeve purchased this House in 2006
Why Madeleine Reeve chose Harborough
We bought this house after we fell in love with the village and it's surroundings. There are so many things to enjoy here. Our neighbours are very friendly and the village has a great community feel. To walk out the front door and begin your walk in the beautiful countryside is always amazing.
What makes this House unique
We are very close to the village church which dates back to the early 12th century. We have a local pub which you can walk to or you can walk to the Foxton Locks pub across the fields. You can also hire a canal boat at Foxton Locks to view some of the other villages close by.

Great place for a party of 3 couples
it can be quite difficult to find a place with 3 double bedrooms but the Gables provides three lovely double bedrooms (two en-suite) and a 4th bedroom with 2 twin beds, and is spacious enough to allow a group to spread out and feel comfortable and relaxed - large dining table, a sunny inside area for breakfast, 3 comfy sofas in the living room, lots of cutlery and plates and food prep counter space, big stove, dishwasher, three-level patio area, a wonderful bathtub for a soak after a day out walking the not-as-flat as one might expect countryside. The village has no street lighting, so bring a flashlight so you can enjoy a hearty meal in the Bell Inn and then stargaze a bit.
Lovely place in a great location.
Beautiful property in a quiet location!
Enjoyed a week here with my family. The house is well equipped with plenty of room! I wished we had a cold night whilst there as the fireplaces with the log burners looked inviting! The nearby Foxton Locks is a must, just a short walk across the fields.
Lovely house in a quiet village.
House looked a bit scruffy on the outside but inside was clean, and very nice. The bathrooms were superb, beds comfortable and plenty of room generally. The kitchen was well equipped. Good pub just down the road.
