Welcome to 'The Writer's House' and what a perfect spot to write your first novel. The house is hand made by local craftsman in solid stone and wood - perfectly suited for its idyllic rural setting. Step out of any one of the 5 sets of French Windows to the large pool, the lawned garden and the stunning views. You are far from being isolated and the nearest restaurant is just a very short walk but you have total seclusion and peace and quiet in a magical hillside setting minutes on foot from the centre of the sleepy village of Islamlar with wonderful local restaurants or a quick drive to Kalkan and the beaches at Patara or Kaputas.
House in Islamlar, Kalkan, Mediterranean Region, Turkey - Tucked Away Just Minutes Walk From Islamlar Village Yet Just A Short Drive To Beaches And Kalkan

delightful with an amazing view
Family of 4 with two teenagers stayed 2 weeks in mid august.
We loved - the views (truly great), there was plenty of space, it was noticeably cooler in Islamlar than kalkan, a lovely sound system with USB connection, a nice selection of books and local guides, great wifi.
Small negatives - the power was a little glitchy (i think that they are replacing the power lines to Islamlar so this should be less of a problem in future), the third bedroom was in the basement and had separate external access (it felt a little odd being separated from child no 1), the driveway is a little steep (we grounded the car every time we left the house - sorry to the Hire company).
Other stuff - we worried a little about the distance from Kalkan but it wasn't a problem, and the coolness (style and temperature) of being in the hills made it worthwhile.
Thanks so much for taking the trouble to write and for such a lovely review. We are always blown away by the view. It’s so unspoilt and evocative - both the view looking down on the sea and the wider country and mountain views. Pleased also that you liked the sound system and WiFi.
I also agree with you about the drive. We changed it last year to stop Winter rains rushing down the drive into the house. But it’s not right. We will alter it at the end of the season. Re the electricity you are quite right. Finally the power company is upgrading the local infrastructure and this is nearly finished. After that all should be very reliable.
Islamlar is indeed a few degrees cooler than Kalkan and the air is so fresh and pure . We will be there soon and can’t wait!
Thanks again and come back soon.
Quiet, amazing views, lovely simple decor, bliss
With outstanding views down the valley to Kalkan and the Med, this is the best villa Ive stayed in in the area. This was my second year running staying here and i will return again!
Set in an idyllic quiet, private location with the most amazing views over the Taurus mountains to the Mediterranean. The villa is well equipped with two of the bedrooms and the open-plan living room opening out onto the terrace overlooking the infinity pool. This is an amazing place to watch the sun rise and set and equally to spend relaxing times throughout the day away from it all. The shelter under the apex of the terrace roof provides welcome relief from the sun and a chance to cool with a chilled glass or two; a great place for a relaxing lunch.
Only a short walk to great restaurants serving similar regional dishes to those in Kalkan but about half the price. A short drive into Kalkan gives you the opportunity to visit one of the many beach clubs by water taxi, charter a boat for the day, wander the streets or just relax in one of the excellent restaurants, many of which are on the roofs of buildings overlooking the harbour.
One of the nicest villas we have ever stayed in with helpful staff on hand if you need anything but never intrusive.
Simply a hidden gem.
Stunning villa above Kalkan, quiet and tranquil
If you are looking for somewhere to escape and chill, this is absolutely the place. Really stunning villa, beautiful pool and one of the best views I've ever seen. And all this can be enjoyed without any interruptions, no traffic noise, no people noise, just sheer tranquility. I will be returning to this villa again and again as it provides everything i am looking for in a holiday. The interior of the villa is to a very high standard, with all of the bedrooms having a spacious en-suite bathroom. the furnishings are perfect and of course the wi-fi is strong (if you need it - you are escaping after all!). Kalkan is only a short drive away, about 15 minutes to the centre, where you will find a wonderful array of restaurants and some lovely walks around the old town and harbour. Also easy access to Patara beach. An amazing villa and very highly recommended!
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much. Holidays are too important to get wrong. Please do come back again soon. And thank you so much for that fabulous review.
Fabulous villa in an idyllic setting, stunning views.
Yazarin Evi is a fabulous villa in an idyllic setting with views that will take your breath away. I cannot recommend this villa enough, fully equipped, clean and spacious with help on hand should you need it.
Car recommended although some local restaurants which are well worth a visit within a few minutes walking, 5-10 minutes car journey into Kalkan.
Excellent communication from the owner and cannot thank you enough for such a relaxing stay. We will certainly be back.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this very positive review of The Writers House [Yazarin Evi]. We fell in love with the view and built the house to get the very best of it. It's made of local stone and we watched every piece being created by a local stonemason. Sometimes we watched in person and sometimes from England on a grainy webcam.
It was a great pleasure designing and equipping the house and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Do come back soon.
Secluded, stunning and peaceful
This villa is just breathtaking on so many levels. The photos do not do it enough justice. The light here changes throughout the day bouncing off the Ocean and the Mountainside. If you are searching for a Tranquil and Serene haven then this is your place. We have never stayed somewhere we felt more relaxed and at home. The villa is up high in the mountains above Kalkan, around a 15 minute drive away. There is access to two small shops in the local village or you can make your way down to Kalkan to pick up supplies.
We arrived at lunchtime and were welcomed by the owner who happened to be here, and the man who built the villa Ismail. We were given a fantastic welcome pack with supplies for the first 24 hours, milk, bread, eggs and local wine and produce, an amazing start to our stay and something we were not expecting.
The villa itself is just wonderful, all very new and modern, whenever we needed something whether it was a cheese grater, iron or mosquito repellant, we always managed to find it somewhere, the owners really have thought of everything. A comprehensive guide is also available if you have any questions. The downstairs part of the villa is almost self contained, great for larger groups or to place the grandparents! Each of the 3 rooms has it's own bathroom and air conditioning unit so makes the rooms very flexible.
The pool is attended to every day and cleaned and looked after as are the gardens. To the left of the villa is the most stunning and untouched mountainside and to the right are local Pomegranate and Olive trees. At night time all you hear are crickets and an occasional owl and you wake to running water and birds singing. You will find plenty of peace and tranquility here in Yazarin Evi we certainly did, and we would love to return sometime and we don't often say that about anywhere we stay. Thank you Anthony and Ismail for creating this little piece of Heaven by the Turkish coast for us all to enjoy, come here you won't regret it! Couldn't recommend this beautiful Villa enough.
Steve, thank you so much for taking the trouble in writing such a comprehensive and positive review of your time at Yazarın Evi. As you know we only finished building the house in March this year and there are still a few more touches that we want to add but we couldn't be more happy than to hear of your own joyful experiences of the house, the gardens and the wonder of Islamlar itself. I will make sure that Ismail gets to see your comments too. He deserves the praise. And do come back soon. We hope that you will.
All best wishes
