Overview

About the property

Cottage near Lower Town Harbour, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, Wales - .Close to the sea, town centre an coastal path

The Monthly Tutors Cottage is a grade 11 listed character Pembrokeshire cottage, renovated by the owner and has many original features. It has a south facing garden and a lower garden/orchard which houses a shed and log store for the wood burning fire. It has been graded by the Wales Tourist Board and has a 4 star grading. For more details please see our web site which is linked via the Facilities section.

The cottage is situated in a wooded valley on the coastal path and is 100 metres from the sea at Lower Town and 100 metres from Fishguard town centre. It has the advantage of a rural setting with the facilities of the town close by. The coastal path is across the road from the cottage and is very scenic in either direction. There are bus links from Fishguard to other areas of the Pembrokeshire coastal path so having a car is not essential. There is a rail terminal at Fishguard Harbour which is in the neighbouring village of Goodwick and is about 1 km from the cottage. The ferry to Ireland crosses from here twice daily. There are numerous beaches on the County and many of these are small coves scattered along its coastline.

The cottage benefits from a secluded south facing garden with a lower garden and orchard. The wood burner is a key feature and gives the cottage a very cosy feel especially in the evenings with a glass of wine.

Parking is outside the cottage as the road is a no through road. Sorry no pets allowed.

About Roger and Margaret Hayward

We are Roger and Margaret Hayward and purchased this cottage by auction in 1986 taking 4 years to restore it. We have kept the character of this Pembrokeshire cottage and it is our second home that we both love.

We are now both retired.

It is a Grade 11 listed property.

Why Roger and Margaret Hayward chose Fishguard

The cottage is close to the sea and situated in a wooded valley descending from the main town of Fishguard to the Lower town harbour. It is a superb location and on the Pembrokeshire coastal path.

What makes this cottage unique

When at the cottage we have the benefits of being close to the town centre and the sea as well as having the cosiness of the cottage and its wood burning fire.

We go sea foraging at the local beach for razor clams and mussels which we enjoy to cook. There are courses available nearby.

We also like to have a glass of wine in front of the wood burning fire and watch the birds outside which are in abundance. A truly relaxing place to stay.
