Cottage in Bangor, County Down, Ireland - Sea Side Village , Wi Fi. Close To Resturants, Pubs, Shops, Yacht Club, Olympic Pool And Golf Club

Shoemakers cottage has 3 good size bedroom, two double rooms and a bunk room , sleeping 6. A cosy lounge with Wi Fi, TV and open fire a large modern kitchen dining and second sitting room area and great utility room. There is ample off road parking to the front and a large, sunny enclosed rear garden with patio furniture. The cottage is bright and spacious and many original features have been retained. The bedrooms are decorated in the shoemakers theme and are bright airy and modern. the cottage benefits from extra internal insulation and is very cosy in winter and summer. There are numerous shops, restaurants and cafes close by and the beach with several children's play parks is 5 minutes walk from the house. Bangor town is a 15 minute walk and has the Aurora, Olympic pool, Pickie fun park Bangor Castle and many shops and restaurants. From Bangor the train goew to Belfast every 30 minutes, taking 25 minutes to get there it also stops at The Folk and Transport , and Titanic quarter.

About fiona campbell

Shoemakers cottage is one of a kind. It was run as a shoemakers for 30 years by Albert Dent. Myself and my husband renovated the cottage between 2011 and 2014 using the original workshop as the new large kitchen dining area. We found the original sign in the attic that's what sort of sparked my interest in opening it to others as a holiday cottage. We have enjoyed some of the renovation and some was really hard work. The big work was done by our great builder but much of the finishing and all the ideas came from us. We have been using the house for family holidays for several years and its been great fun. There really is something for everyone.

Shoemakers cottages in a lovely location a detached cottage a few minutes walk to all facilities, shops pubs and restaurants. Also a 5 minute walk to a beach and children's play parks the beach is part of a 10 mile coastal walk one way to Hollywood the other to Groomsport. Bangor town is a 15 minute walk it has additional shops loads of restaurants and train station going directly to George Best city Airport , Belfast and the Titanic Quarter. for a bit of exploring.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage gives a relaxing break - it is easily accessed either by public transport or by car. Bangor and the Ards Peninsula give loads of opportunity for exploring and visiting. Going to the fun Aurora pool, cinema and a drive to Portaferry to make the 10 minute crossing to Strangford and Exploris Aquarium. Trips to Belfast are easily made and maybe take a bus or taxi tour of this diverse cultural city . Up the Antrim coast to the Giants Causeway or further up to Derry/ londonderry or Portrush for the day and fun at Barry's amusements with the big dipper. In Bangor itself Pickie Fun park with paddle swans and splash area and cafe gives something for everyone. For the fishermen or woman there's the pier or a day trip to catch mackerel - great on the barbeque.

Notes on accommodation: The cottage was built in 1923 and fully renovated in 2014, it retains its character but has been modernized and additional internal insulation in the walls and ceiling ensures it is very warm and cosy when used in colder weather. The garden is secure and sunny and the front of the house accommodates 3/4 cars off road. The cottage is great because it is walking distance to local amenities and accessible by public transport. The cottage is non smoking. Outside: The cottage is detached and has a secure, sunny rear garden in lawns with path etc there is garden furniture provided. The front is paved and there is plenty of parking. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer, large utility room with space to store travel bags, shoes and golf clubs etc . and internal clothes line to air outdoor clothes or wetsuits etc...buckets and spades and picnic plates are left for your use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen, duvets etc all supplied, house cleaned after and before each holiday Wi Fi Oil central heating- included Other: Three bright modern bedrooms. Tastefully decorated

The cottage is well equipped. Easy walking distance to Bangor, Ballyholme and the beach. Plenty of room for 6. Everyone found beds comfortable. Nice fresh flowers for arrival. Would definitely use again

The ideal seaside retreat

We had a lovely week at Shoemakers Cottage. We loved the colourful décor and the shoe-themed photos. The cottage has everything you could need, even down to buckets and spades, which the children appreciated. There are shops and cafes less than five minutes' walk away, and the beautiful sands of Ballyholme Esplanade are within easy walking distance. We would definitely recommend it.

Lovely Comfy Home in Bangor

We totally enjoyed our stay at The Shoemakers Cottage in Bangor. It is a lovely little area- peaceful and quiet but within easy short drive of busy Belfast.

The Shoemakers Cottage was very comfortable with every amenity you could imagine to make our stay comfortable. Beds were comfy, house was lovely and warm and very spacious - perfect for us as a travelling group. Fiona was easy to deal with and very quick to answer my emails. I would recommend staying at this lovely little cottage.

Perfect Break

We had a wonderful stay at the Shoemaker's cottage.

The house itself was very comfortable and deceptively spacious. Cheerfully decorated and oozing charm it catered for every need.

Thoughtful touches and cosy furnishings (extra pillows, ample bedding, throws and cushions) make it equally attractive in summer or winter. We loved the fire, set for us to light when the evening got a little chillier!

Another delightful bonus was a safe and pleasant private back garden with outdoor seating and lawn; ideal for families.

The location of the cottage was wonderful; a quiet residential area walking distance from Bangor town and Marina.The pretty Ballyholme beach was literally at the end of the street opposite and the village with shops, bakery, restaurants etc. was a brief walk away. We had a superb meal there at Pearl restaurant. The property is also close to the new pool complex and omniplex. The location provides an excellent base for touring the Ards pennisula and Bangor has good public transport (bus and rail) links to Belfast city.

We would highly recommend this special holiday home and cannot wait to return!

Great house in super location

Lovely clean house with everything we needed and some great touches. Kids loved the beach and local park. Enjoyed the food in the local Restaurants, especially the Jamaica Inn. Coming again later in the year. C

Ballyholme village is a 2 minute walk - there are shops cafes pub and restaurants here. Bangor is a 15 minute walk with many more shops restaurants and pubs etc and a large Marina, Castle and some lovely walks. Belfast is 12 miles form Bangor with great night life and various cultural taxi or bus tours of the city's past. - Titanic Quater and the Folk and Transport museum.

Travel from Bangor to the Mouren Mountains , North Antrim coast, Giants causeway Titanic Quarter Belfast and on...

There is a fully stocked small supermarket in Ballyholme 2 minute walk from the cottage, also a butcher, bakery and wine shop. Two cafes aand a Resturants. On the seafront close to the house is the Esplanade Pub/ restaurant and slightly further another 5 minute walk the Jamacia inn Pub / Restaurant

In Bangor there is a large Asda supermarket and numerous shops and cafes, There is also Bloomfield an out of town shopping Mall with M&S Tescos etc...Newtownards is 10 miles and is a busy market town with many shops and a large shopping centre. Portaferry is 20 miles away and has the Exploris Aquarium cafes and resturants and lovely walks. Strangford accesible from portaferry by a car ferry - takes 10 minutes has Castle Ward stately home and more intresting walks and lovely scenery.
