Glencarron Lodge is the main house on a 11,500 acre estate in a tranquil Highland glen and is the perfect venue for an extended family or group of friends to enjoy Highland activities and each other's company or for corporate entertainment. (Weeks mostly Saturday to Saturday or enquire for short breaks in term-time/ possible late booking/under-occupancy reduction. Our cancellation policy does include refunds in certain circumstances - Please see our full Glencarron & Toad hall Ts and Cs). Cocktails in the drawing room, convivial meals at the large dining table, all after a day clay pigeon shooting, walking, fishing, boating, stalking, sightseeing, with bucket and spade on the beach, holding a ping pong tournament in the basement or just enjoying the romance of the Highlands. Glencarron Lodge is in the West Highlands under one hour's drive due west of Inverness and is centrally located for sightseeing in much of the highlands - from fairytale castles and the Isle of Skye to the most idyllic fishing villages viewed on descending the highest mountain roads in Britain. The sandy beaches on the west coast are among the most beautiful in the world with vast sand dunes and rocky pools. And scattered throughout are the friendliest of highland pubs with fresh langoustine and shrimps, cooked to the highest standards.

About Kate Douglas

We have owned Glencarron and Toad Hall in Suffolk for 20-30 years and regularly spend time at each ourselves, initially with our young children and now with our grown up children, so we know they are great houses to enjoy.

We had a fabulous time at Glencarron. The houses were warm and comfortable and the weather was fabulous. We are moving on to another area next year but we hope to be back as it’s the best house we have stayed in - and we have been going to Scotland in February since the 1980s.

Notes on accommodation: You use all baby/child equipment at your own risk and are advised to check its safety for your child. Outside: The large garden has a raised patio all along the rear of the house and steps down to lawns with a children's climbing frame (use at our own risk, please assess risks for your child). Utility Room: The utility room serves as a drying room after winter hill walks and includes a drinks fridge and sink. It is where the water is filtered and UV sterilised and contains two large water heaters. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are supplied at £10 per person-bed change and you can have clean linen as often as you choose. The property is cleaned weekly but we can arrange more frequent cleaning/help if you require it. Other: Large Dining room surrounded by stags heads with table to seat 16 or 18 and side table to seat 6. Large stag candle holders - a splendid room.

Glencarraon Lodge sits in a beautiful 11,500 acre estate in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland by the Torridon Mountains. There are two Lochs on the estate and three Munros (mountains over 3000ft). You will have access to a fabulous remote six mile Glen - real wilderness. The surrounding area has some of the most beautiful beaches and mountains in the world as well as ancient castles etc and museums of local life plus friendly active local Highland communities. The Estate is centrally placed for exploring the north west Highlands and the East and the Isle of Skye is an easy day trip.

Special interest holidays:

Stalking with camera or gun, guided walking, nature walks, clay pigeon shooting, trout and salmon fishing (with tuition if required) are all on site and golfing, sea life watching, canoeing can all be arranged nearby for beginners or the more experienced.

Coast/Beach:

The West coast of Scotland near us has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world with vast sand dunes and rocky pools. The best beaches are about 40 minutes in the car.

Travel:

Nearest stations: Achnasheen 5 miles (or Achnashellach request stop) and Inverness, 50 miles. Airports: Inverness (1 hour's drive), Aberdeen (3 hours) and Edinburgh (4 hours) all have flights from London, Bristol and Exeter etc. See Easyjet for cheap flights.

Booking Notes:

Your booking will be accepted only on condition that you agree to the full ‘Glencarron and Toad Hall’ terms & conditions, which are available on our own website and are uploaded on this site.

We require a 25% of rental deposit by bank transfer to book, with the balance and security deposit 8 weeks before your stay please. The security deposit, less electricity cost, is normally returned within a few days unless any damage is done.

Price includes Aga oil, logs and Wifi internet, linen and towels. Electricity is metered and charged at cost price.

Bookings Saturday to Saturday and for weekends, Friday to Monday, in school term. For another changeover day or longer period enquire with the owner first.

The number of persons occupying the property, day or night, must not exceed that number agreed in advance with the owner. The property is not let for functions.

To this self-catering property you must bring all food and other consumables excluding fuel. You must also bring cot duvet and cot linen. Towels, bedding, bed linen and wifi are included in the rental price at all properties. At Glencarron Lodge only, electricity is metered and charged at cost price. This may be between £50 and £450 depending on the weather, number occupying Glencarron Lodge and how you like to use it. It is low in summer.

We clean and maintain the properties carefully. If you find any problems or the property is not as described, you must please inform the housekeeper as soon as this is apparent.

Cancellation Policy: If the property is re-let on the same terms, all rental monies will be refunded less a £100 admin. fee. Otherwise, the 25% booking deposit is non-refundable and the balance, which must be paid by 8 weeks before your stay to secure the property, is not refundable within that 8 weeks. OD Service fees not refundable. You should take out your own cancellation insurance.
