About the property

Alpaca Cottage is a one bedroom luxury gem set in a quiet and gorgeous corner of Dorset. Near the coast, it's perefect for walkers, cyclists or relaxers!!

Alpaca Cottage has just been subject to a 10 month luxury refurbishment. With the sitting room/kitchen, double bedroom and designer en-suite all located on the ground floor, it is ideal for those with limited mobility. The cottage has stunning views over a large meadow where our small heard of alpacas live, and you would be welcome to participate at feeding time. The cottage adjoins on one side the owner's house, but has a separate outside area for al-fresco meals or drinks. Located off a private road, and set in the midst of numerous footpaths, as well as just by the National Cycle Path ( bicycles are available for rent) , this is a superb location for the active, or for those just wanting to kick back and relax. The cottage is also close to the beautiful River Frome, which can be walked beside, or even paddled in! The wonderful Jurassic Coast is just 10 miles away, and the historic county town of Dorchester just 5 miles away.

About Paul Abadjian

We have two apartments in Marbella. at La Mairena (S24133) and at Torre Real (S24782), one 1 bedroom apartment in Battersea, London, as well as Alpaca Cottage near Dorchester, Dorset. The Spanish apartments are both owned by Paul and his sister Jane Abadjian. Both apartments have been furnished and specified as homes, not merely as places to rent out, so the fixtures and fittings tend to be quite stylish and luxurious. The same applies to the London flat, which is owned by Paul and wife, Fiona.

Alpaca Cottage represents all that is best about rural England, while still being easily accessible from London. Alpaca Cottage adjoins Court Barn, where Paul lives with Fiona.

Paul and Fiona lives in west Dorset, with Sophie and Guinness, mother and son Spaniels and a small herd of 13 Alpacas ! They also offer a part of this property for holiday lets (Alpaca Cottage E 15146) Paul has enjoyed collecting classic Jaguars for more years than he cares to remember, and he and Fiona have enjoyed driving them in Russia, Argentina, the US, Australia and Tasmania.

Paul Abadjian purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Paul Abadjian chose Dorchester

First of all, please read the feed back from previous guests, which perhaps says more than we can!

This is a perfect quiet rural retreat with open views across Capability Brown laid-out parkland, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the Jurassic Coast.

We do take well-behaved dogs for a £25 supplement.

The cottage is stylish and practical, and we also provide a truly comprehensive file with suggestions of walks, places to visit, pub and restaurant recommendations, local history etc etc.

There are several walks (both long and short) that you can do straight from your door, so you don't have to take the car, but if the weather has gone off (that CAN happen, even in Dorset!) we have a few interesting and fun driving tours included in the file. We also have bicycles to rent, as our drive forms part of The National Cycle Path.

We are perfectly placed to explore the Jurassic Coast-a World Heritage site....just 7 miles away.

We promise you a stay you will always look back on with affection, and hope to be able to welcome you soon to Alpaca Cottage!

Alpaca Cottage is an ideal location for a stay in Dorset, easy access to the whole of the county and coast.

Paul and Fiona are wonderful hosts, available and responsive to any questions or issues but always mindful of their guests privacy.

Highly recommended.

Cottage in a stunning location.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying in Alpaca Cottage, It is situated very conveniently for exploring Dorset. The cottage is comfortable, and well appointed. However for "Oldies" such as us, Grab rails in the shower would have been a blessing. The alpacas are lovely. we were fortunate to have been there when a baby one arrived. The owners are welcoming and make sure we want for nothing. G and A Jeans.

stunning property in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Alpaca cottage is a fantastic property with everything you need for a very comfortable stay, very clean and well equipped.

The hosts Paul & Fiona are very helpful and kind making sure your stay is most enjoyable. There is a wonderful book of great walks and scenic drives, places to visit and great places to eat, all you need to know to make the most of your time.

We were very fortunate to spend time with the Alpacas, one that was just a week old, so beautiful. We took our well behaved dog with us and he made great friends with Guiness and Sophie to lovely cocker spaniels. All in all we are well travelled and we would highly recommend Alpaca cottage First Class.

Thank you Fiona & Paul, Guiness Sophie and all the beautiful Alpacas for such a wonderful relaxing time. We hope to see you soon.

Regards Debbie Paul & Henry.

Quiet Cottage in lovely grounds

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Alpaca Cottage, it is in a very peaceful location.

The bed was comfortable and the Shower room well equipped and very warm. Unfortunately the living area was chilly in the evenings, although the radiator was switched on (possibly needs looking at).

Paul was very friendly and also helpful in making a couple of good suggestions of where to visit.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to review Alpaca Cottage. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay, but sorry to hear you were chilly in the evenings. If you had mentioned this, I would have pointed out the supplemental oil filled radiator in the walk in cupboard, which you could have used in the living room with pleasure. Alpaca is heated by ground source heat pumps, and if there is a drop in temperature, they can be slow to respond compared to a conventional system.

Comfortable, rural accommodation for two people wanting to explore the Jurassic coast

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation is well appointed and equipped for two people. Notable is the comfortable king size bed and the spacious walk-in shower. Although the living area and kitchen are a combined space, they're well equipped with everything two people are likely to need. The outside space for al fresco eating and drinking is a graveled area in front of the property with garden furniture, this enjoys views of the grounds belonging to the main house with extensive views beyond.

The accommodation is aimed at two adults and will primarily appeal to those wanting to explore the Dorset Jurassic and East Devon coasts, Dorchester and surrounding areas.

Comfortable and well located cottage

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. Cottage was adjoining friendly owners' house, but reasonably private feeling. Great outlook over fields and Alpacas. Frampton/Southover a pleasant location with good walks straight from door. Dog enjoyed it!

Well placed for Hardy country and coast. Comfortable for a couple, and generally well equipped - kitchen fine for limited cooking; bath towels a bit thin, but otherwise all good.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review. For clarification for future guests, the kitchen has a full-size cooker with oven, grill and four burner ceramic hob, built in extractor, a microwave oven, full size stainless steel sink, fridge and adequate worktop space. The cottage is equipped with all cooking utensils. The towels are Turkish, lightweight but very absorbent. We have decided to revert to our standard Egyptian cotton towels, as they do not seem to be to everyone's taste.
