About Selma or Rob Nicol

The Owners of this special property are Selma and Rob Nicol. We are both Canadian, although Rob grew up in Buckie which is a short distance from Cullen. We met in Canada in 1991 and eventually married in Scotland in 1998 at Eilean Donan Castle (very romantic!) and moved to a lovely little farmhouse just outside of Buckie on the Moray Coast. I nursed at the local hospital and Rob had an upholstery business. In 2005 family obligations necessitated a return to Canada but we continued to regularly return to Scotland to visit family with the intention of some day moving back. After relocating to the area in 2012 we purchased Camrose in the autumn of 2013 and spent several months renovating it to it's current high standard. We are very pleased with the result and think our guests will agree it is a lovely comfortable home away from home.

Selma or Rob Nicol purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Selma or Rob Nicol chose Moray

We had a very successful first year with our other Cullen property, Hill Crest Holiday Cottage, which is also listed on Owner's Direct. We love Cullen and so do our guests so when an opportunity to purchase a second property came our way we couldn't resist. Camrose is a unique property with something different to offer from Hill Crest but in the same delightful setting.

What makes this cottage unique

The location of Camrose within Cullen is ideal. Restaurants and shops are only footsteps away and the surrounding countryside only a few minutes more

I never usually get round to reviewing anything; I am in this case as this cottage was outstanding.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was everything that was promised in the description. Beyond that it was immaculate and everything that one could want was provided, even friendly neighbours. Cullen is a special town having views, setting, history, good shops, interesting shops and plenty of good food outlets. Excellent surfing lessons in nearby Sandend. Glenglassough distillery and Macduff Sealife centre are not to be missed.

In Dorset? No it's in Moray but I'd recommend to anyone.

The cottage was wonderful, very clean, warm and inviting. Everything you need is there. There was a lovely welcome pack on our arrival and lots of information about where to go and what to see in the area. The cottage is very well furnished and extremely comfortable.

we have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years but this has to be the best by far!!

Pleasant owners, very clean well positioned cottage. Easy parking.

Very helpful owners who replied quickly to our questions before coming and met us on arrival. The cottage is exceptionally clean. The kitchen is excellent. Many thoughtful touches are evident - toys and games for the children, dressing gowns for the adults, a welcome pack of food, fresh flowers. There are plenty of towels provided and toiletries. The shower works well and the bathroom is large. There is also a toilet downstairs. The garden looked pretty and the view from the back windows of the house is lovely. A very short walk from Camrose House and you are looking over beautiful Cullen Bay. We would definitely recommend this house.

A lovely, comfortable, well furnished and very well equipped holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a lovely stay in Camrose Cottage in July this year. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well furnished and very comfortable.

We have stayed in many very good holiday cottages but have never come across one where the owners had given so much care and attention to the needs of their guests!

We brought along a whole range of items that were not needed.

Towels, tea towels, cutlery, dishes, glasses, toilet paper etc were all plentiful. We were also provided with dishwasher tablets, clothes washing liquid, washing up liquid, napkins, large rolls of cling film, tea, coffee, sugar etc, etc

Selma and Rob are indeed most considerate holiday home owners.

One little things to note. We had two toddlers with us and the house has several levels, which made it just a little less suitable for wee ones. However, they had a really great time!

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for taking the time to write a review of your stay. We really appreciate the effort. We do our best to make sure our guests have everything they might need for a comfortable stay in good supply. I agree that Camrose is perhaps not the best house for anyone with mobility or safety issues because of the multiple levels however it is a very unique and comfortable home with a lot to offer for the majority of guests who choose our cottage for their seaside getaway. We hope to see you again sometime. Selma & Rob
