Garden Cottage Norbrook is in the village of Haslingfield yet only 15 minutes from Cambridge historic centre. It offers the tranquillity of a rural location and convenient access to the attractions and facilities of Cambridge .
The village has a shop, post office and deli and access to a network of pathways to enjoy its rural environment.
There are ‘must see’ attractions on hand in Cambridge, Ely and the iconic aircraft collection at IWM Duxford.
The cottage is set in the gardens of the owner’s home, and they are on hand to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.
Garden Cottage lies in the garden of our house which we have restored over the last 10 years. Garden Cottage was originally a small barn.
Mike Kennedy purchased this cottage in 2002
This is a new converted property and feedback will be posted as soon as it is available.
The property met the description given. It was clean and well maintained. The owners were on site and available whenever we had a query. It would have been helpful to have a mirror near a socket for drying hair, also tin foil, paper towel, tissues, small dishes for fruit, and soup spoons. We recommend the property.
Haslingfield has many thatched cottages and a lovely village green, with an interesting body shadow sun dial. There is a booklet in the property describing walks around the village.
We enjoyed using the 2 village shops, they catered for what we needed, and the staff, and other customers, were friendly and helpful.
Park and ride in Trumpington was the best way to go into Cambridge. You park for £1, and can use concessionary bus passes, if you have them, for the ride. The downside was that the last bus back from Cambridge was about 8pm.
We thoroughly recommend the "Kings and Backs" walking tour. Our guide, Tony, was informative, fun, and had lots of anecdotes to share. Choral evensong in Kings (5.30pm, queue at 5pm), was a bit disappointing as the acoustics are poor, not surprising with such a high ceiling.
A walk along footpaths, starting at nearby Canteloupe Road to The Orchard in Grantchester (about 5 miles return), would have been a good option. There are Ordnance Survey maps in the property to help.
One evening, we ate at The Royal Oak, Barrington (the next village), both of us had marinated lamb, which was delicious, and reasonably priced. We felt that one portion of potatoes and veg was ample for two.
We stayed in the cottage for a week late August. The accommodation suited us, a couple, extremely well. Although small, everything was good quality and we felt 'at home'.
Our hosts were charming and helpful. The weather was particularly good and we were able to dine 'al fresco', not only on our patio, but in the garden where our hosts provided dining furniture and parasol.
If you need, or want to be in the area, the cottage is a good base and we would certainly return.
The property was well equiped and very relaxing. The owners have the perfect mix of being, helpful, informative and available if needed without being intrusive. We found our stay to be most enjoyable and relaxing.
After driving off the m11 motorway we drove through some quite idyllic villages and arrived at this quite wonderfull cottage. It had absolutely everything you would need without you having to go out straight away and buy stuff all linin and towels are provided and also anything you can think of that you would need for the kitchen we brought some things but honestly we didn't need to the accommodation is rented as a two person max and it is spacious and well laid out for two. The living/kitchen diner area is comftable for cooking eating or just slumming in front of the telly all is comftable and honey there is an outside patio area and with the right weather makes for a peacfull place to eat weather it be for breakfast or evening the bedroom is large enough and tastefully decorated with a soft but comftable bed there is a large wardrobe and two side cabinets and plenty of places to put your clothes there are sockets in abundance and no noise to keep you awake. The walk in wet room is an absolute joy and made me want one of my own it is again tastefully decorated with an eye for detail the shower works to perfection but if you are not used to a wet room don't be too alarmed by it flooding if you like long showers. We were sad to go it was a lovely quite slow paced life that you adopt and is ideal to get away from the stresses of work and life with so many local reasonably priced pubs within a quick drive you will not go without. Mike the owner sorry I forgot his partners name. Was more than helpful in all ways before and during our stay he sent me his mobile number with plenty of info and we kept in touch on our way will hopefully returned one day to The Garden Cottage untile then thankyou both for a lovely stay.
We needed somewhere to stay to complete a course of radiotherapy sessions at Addenbrookes hospital and couldn't believe our luck when we found this accommodation.
It was ideal for us just 15 minutes to the hospital which left us a lot of time to explore the Cambridge country side around.
We had many lovely walks taken out of a walking book lent to us by the owners and were able to finally make use of our National Trust membership and visited Anglesey Abbey and Wimpole Hall and gardens.
The Village of Haslingfield is adorable and has a store, pubs and an award winning Deli all within walking distance.
The accommodation was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, well equipped and very comfy with fresh flowers picked from the wonderful gardens surrounding the property making a very thoughtful touch to greet us on arrival.
The owners are lovely ,helpful but not intrusive and we would love to go back sometime for a proper Holiday.
Cottage was as described, well equipped, clean and comfortable which allowed us to have a perfect weekend away to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. Mike and Ann were the perfect hosts without being intrusive Highly recommended
