Darley Dale, near Matlock, Derbyshire - Peaceful location away from the main road.

Thorncliffe House is situated in Darley Dale near Matlock on the edge of the Peak District National Park, just 4.5 miles from Chatsworth House. It's ideally located to visit the numerous sights and attractions in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales. Great for walkers and cyclists with secure storage for your bikes.

The house is maintained to a very high standard and has everything you need to make your holiday perfect. Much more than just a holiday cottage we've tried to provide everything to make it a real home from home.

There are four double bedrooms, one has a King Size bed and a luxury en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. Two others have double beds and the fourth has two single beds that can be linked together on request to form a Superking bed. There's also a modern family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Downstairs the entrance porch leads into a large hallway with an office area. The living room has a log burner and seats 8 people. There is a large flatscreen tv with freesat, dvd player and music system. The large kitchen/dining room is a lovely light room with patio doors leading outside onto the patio area which has tables and seating for 8. The dining table seats 10 and the fitted kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and more, including a wine fridge. There's a large fully equipped utility room if you want to do your own laundry and a downstairs cloakroom with wc and hand basin.

Outside is a secure garage with electric door for one car and ample parking at the front or side of the house for more cars. Beyond the patio area is a large enclosed lawned garden that benefits from the sun all day. We recommend supervision of very young children in the garden at all times.The house backs onto an open playing field that has a small childrens play area at the top, close enough to be handy but far enough away not to be a nuisance.

In reality the photos don't do the property justice! Everything is so well maintained and presented it is quite simply stunning - it is without doubt the nicest holiday home we have ever stayed in.



“Beautifully appointed property”

We spent three days at this property, for a family reunion. It is a superb property situated perfectly to explore the beautiful Derbyshire area. The property itself is beautifully decorated and furnished. The kitchen is superbly equipped with top quality appliances. We received fresh flowers and wine and a very warm welcome from the owners. I would thoroughly recommend this property, we had a wonderful weekend and would most definitely return.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Thorncliffe house has full gas central heating as well as the log burner. There's a selection of books, dvds, board games and console games for you to use. There will be plenty of local tourism information at the house to help you decide what to do and where to go during your stay. Toys will be left out for younger children where possible. A welcome pack containing tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits will be there when you arrive. Several supermarkets deliver to the house. Thorncliffe house is a no smoking house. Sorry, no pets allowed. Outside: Outside there is a garage with electric door to park one car and plenty of space outside the property for more. There's a large enclosed garden with a patio area and outdoor furniture to seat 8 people and a barbecue. Supervision of young children at all times in the garden is recommended. The garden backs on to playing fields where there's a small childrens play area, far enough away so as not to be a nuisance but close enough to be handy. Utility Room: The large utility room has everything you need if you want to do your own laundry. There's a washing machine, tumble dryer, Iron and large ironing board and a clothes airer for wet days. There's also a rotary clothes dryer outside. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen and towels are included. The property is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive and if staying longer than a week the bedding and towels will be changed again. Other: The open plan kitchen/diner has a large oak table with seating for 10 people and 1 high-chair, it has patio doors that open out onto the patio area of the garden. The large hallway has a double fronted desk where you can work from home if needed.

Comfortable, clean and very well equipped.

Our party of four adults and three children (14, 13 and 12) found this a very comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. The kitchen was well provided with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment, and everything about the house was clean and well organised. The owner Kate was friendly and welcoming. Altogether very highly recommended.

Beautiful home! Great experience.

It was a beautiful home! Clean! Everywhere was so clean! And so welcoming felt like our home for a wk. Plenty of games to play with for our kids. Close to both towns. Easy for shopping 10 mins one way to bakewell or 10 mins to matlock!

Best ever rental

We have stayed at many different houses for larger families. This was by far the best we have ever stayed at. Everything you need is here, fixtures and fittings are of high quality and in great order. The local area is quiet and peaceful with shops etc local enough to get that forgotten item. We have no problem at all in recommending this property and the owner Kate who was very patient after we were delayed by 2 hrs arriving.

A very comfortable and spacious house in an ideal location.

This property was ideal for a family get together. The house is situated in a quiet location off the main road with ample provision for parking including a single garage. It is very spacious, having 4 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is very tastefully furnished throughout, all in good condition and extremely well presented. Kitchen/utility room equipment were of a high standard. Our grandson was entertained with the good supply of toys. The position of the house is perfect for exploring the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Matlock is only 10 minutes away, a small town which has a reasonable Sainsburys and M&S food so it was easy to plan meals. A house where we hope to make a return visit.

Lovely well located holiday home in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.

Fantastic property in the heart of the Peak District. High specification holiday let with lots of space and in a fantastic location. 10 minutes from Chatsworth House and Matlock and 15 minutes from Bakewell and within easy reach of some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Highly recommended, beautifully appointed and with all of the pots, pans, gadgets and entertainment you could possibly need. Not to be missed by friend sand family alike.
