Villa Checco in Lucca,Italy - Peaceful location, amenities and cultural spots at hand. Perfect holiday for your family and friends
Welcome to the lovely Villa Checco, made in stones locally gathered together over 150 years ago. The villa is recently renewed maintaining the original Tuscanian style, with terraced gardens and a swimming pool among the olive trees. Amenities and cultural spots at hand. Perfect holiday for your family and friends!
The Medioeval jewel city of Lucca is at sight, and you can see its towers from the terrace. Worldwide known city of Pisa is at 10 miles, while beaches are reachable in 20 miles. Florence is within 50 miles. We organise excursions, Lucca's guided tours and we teach how to make a real pizza in a real wood oven. It is a self catering house, but you can ask for a cooking lesson and you will be able to eat local dishes on the terrace! The house used to be the baker house for the small village San Lorenzo, the wood oven is the original one! The Villa is suitable for 11 people. Car is not mandatory as the bus stop is 300 meters away with good connections with Lucca and Pisa Airport.
We have a cooperation with the neighbor agriturism which can be visited and its products bought. Its vineyard produces a great wine and the owner will be delighted to bring you in for a free tour explaining the process of production. Honey and olive oil is also produced in the agriturism and you can taste them and buy them and see production processes of those as well!

About Leonardo Scatena
I was born in Lucca and I love the city and this house. At the moment I am currently living in UK for work and I have to rent this house where I used to live. I enjoyed staying there and till I came back, I hope you will enjoy it too! Leonardo

We much enjoyed our short stay in this peaceful and characterful villa within easy driving distance of Lucca.
Lovely terraced garden.
Michelangelo was welcoming and friendly.
We hope to go for longer next time.
Lovely house, lovely owners, , lovely neighbours.
Making pizza with co-owner Michelangelo is a must.
A lovely house near Lucca
We were a party of 6 adults and we stayed for one week. The house is set off the main road up a narrow and reasonably steep lane. It is divided into 2 a smaller house for up to 4 people and a larger one for up to 6. Both are attractively decorated and very well equipped. over 3 floors. Behind the house are terraced gardens leading up the side of the hill. There is plenty of room to sit out and enjoy the views over the to the hills and over Lucca which is 3 to 4 miles north. Next to the gardens are vines and olives belonging to the farm next door they too are very beautiful. I think it would be very difficult not to love this place. The accommodation is good and the location beautiful. There are some things to consider. The village is small and for most things you need to go into Lucca but that is fine. The Esselunga supermarket has everything. The road up to the house is quite challenging the first time but you get used to it. Think Devon or Cornwall lanes but on a steep incline, don't hire a big van! Loved this place.
Thanks for the very nice review! I hope to see you all again soon!

Tutto come ce lo aspettavamo
Grazie di tutto ragazzi, il casale era esattamente come ce lo aspettavamo.. forse anche piu' bello.
Familiare, accogliente e funzionale.
Posizione ideale.
Torneremo presto a trovarvi!
Un caro saluto
Beautiful villa, beautiful spot! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Checco in May. The location is perfect - close to Pisa and Lucca but still feels like you are in the countryside with lovely views of vineyards and rolling hills. The house is beautifully decorated, with rustic charm. Leonardo and Michelangelo were very helpful and accommodating. Look forward to visiting again to experience the pizza night!
Thank you for the nice review! Looking forward for you to come back in Villa Checco! Leonardo
"A Great Stay"
We spent just over two weeks at Villa Checco and we were delighted with the house and facilities. Villa Checco is a charming house which has been renovated to a high standard and retains lots of its original features. It is a little piece of heaven with terraced gardens and views over the city of Lucca. The location of the house is fantastic, just a short drive from Lucca and we also made day trips to Florence, Pisa, Sienna and numerous pretty towns in the locality. If you don't have a car, the local bus stop is about 5 minutes walk from the house and it will bring you directly into the city which also has train links to all the major cities. We spent much of our time exploring the area and making day trips, but we also had days where we hung out at the pool, enjoyed lazy lunches and generally relaxed and took it easy at the house. The villa is a great size and it's easy to find some space for yourself. A highlight of our stay was meeting with Michelangelo and Julia. They came to the house on one of the evenings and we all made pizzas in the wood burning stove. We all had great fun and the children really enjoyed the experience, we learnt how to use the oven and we used it another night ourselves to make pizza. This is a truly authentic Italian experience and is what sets this villa apart from all the rest.
Overall,we had a fantastic stay at villa Checco, it is in an excellent location for touring tuscany and we would highly recommend it.
Special interest holidays: We offer a course of pizza in the house using the old wood oven. We also offer cooking lessons on demand. We offer trekking courses with a professionist around the several paths in the hills sourranding the area. Coast/Beach: Tuscany is well known for its beautiful landscape with wineyards and cypresses, other than center of cultural spots like Florence, Pisa and Lucca. But all the region is to be explored with daily excursions. Viareggio is the nearest beach at 20 kilometers driving. Le Cinque Terre (Five Lands) are also reachable in 45 minutes driving, worth doing it! You will be astonished by Toscana's beauty. Travel: Villa Checco is located an old and quiet village of San Lorenzo a Vaccoli at the border of Lucca. Pisa Airport is 10 miles distance. Distances: Lucca is at 3 miles. Pisa is at 10 miles. Florence is at 50 miles. Siena is at 60 miles. Further Details: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Villa-Checco-Tuscany-Holiday/1480335225518900
