About Mrs Anita Rendall

The Owners of Rose Cottage live in the Cotswolds and have loved and walked in beautiful Yorkshire for many years. The cottage is managed by local people. Linen and towels are provided by the White Bedding Company.

Why Mrs Anita Rendall chose Yorkshire Dales

West Witton is a vibrant village with a wonderful restaurant, a real ale pub, village shop and wonderful walking.

We have always loved the market town of Leyburn which is about 2 miles away and has additional good places to eat (The Sandpiper) and a variety of shops to meet all needs.

Access to all the Dales and other places to visit is easy from West Witton.

We found the cottage when visiting the Wensleydale Heifer on a snowy night in 2013 and loved it.

Lovely cottage with everything you could want

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a good base to visit the Dales and Rose Cottage was everything we wanted and more. It is in the village of West Witton on the main road through Wensleydale. It is spotless with very comfortable beds constant hot water and a wood fire and excellent central heating for the colder months. The cottage is tastfully decorated and the kitchen has everything you need for preparing and cooking meals. We found parking outside was easy and although on a main road it is very quiet at night. The garden is lovley and if the weather is good it is lovley to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. We will not be looking for anywhere else to stay in The Dales as you would not find anywhere better than Rose Cottage. Thank you Anita for all your help and for sharing your home with us

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a wonderful long weekend at Rose Cottage. I really didn't want to leave, it was such a home-from-home. Spotlessly clean, really comfortable, enjoyed each evening there in front of the log burner. The towels and bed linen were lovely. The local was a delight, everyone was really friendly. Walks direct from the door and loads of places to visit. Campbell's in Leyburn has to be the best grocery shop in the UK with an unbelievably extensive wine range. I brought my friend up this time it was her first time in the Dales and I couldn't have asked for a better place for us to stay. I will most certainly be back. Thank you so much Anita, can't wait to visit again.

Lovely clean and welcoming cottage for all four of us

  • 5 of 5

Lovely welcome with milk and tea bags, always much appreciated. Cottage great size for our family of four, warm and surprisingly quiet despite being on the main road.

Beds nice and comfy and furniture in keeping with the cottage which were also comfortable. Really high standard of cleanliness and plenty of towels for us all.

Plenty to keep the kids amused, the games chest was well used. Didn't use any of the books or DVDs but good to know they are there and a good variety. Used the walk info in the drawer for a walk round Aysgarth and Semer water. Would definitely visit again.

Wonderful break

  • 5 of 5

We've had three stays in this lovely cottage. Everything is clean and well maintained and is well equipped. There's a lovely log burner for cosy evenings in, but if you fancy going out, we like the Fox and Hounds in the village which is friendly and has good value, home cooked meals and an open fire.

Lots of lovely walks nearby.

We love the secluded garden at the back, sadly too cold to sit out this time of year, but we will be back again. Thank you for the good communication, instructions and welcome pack. Much appreciated!

Lovely cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

This was a short break with friends. Lovely cottage in West Witton, close to local small shop, popular restaurant (Wensleydale Heifer) and Fox and Hounds real ale pub close by – highly recommend both. Excellent location for exploring The Dales. Good size cottage for 4 people. Very clean and kitchen had everything you need to do your own cooking if you wish. Slight hiccup as changeover had not been done when we arrived i.e. fresh towels etc. One phone call and the very apologetic owner had cleaners with us within half an hour and all sorted very quickly with the offer of a free drink at the restaurant. Thanks Anita. Would highly recommend the cottage and the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this review and we are delighted that you had such a good time at our cottage and in West Witton itself. We are sorry that our cleaners had let us down and not prepared the cottage for you - we have taken the difficult decision to change to someone else and are confident that this will not happen again.
