About Mrs Anita Rendall
The Owners of Rose Cottage live in the Cotswolds and have loved and walked in beautiful Yorkshire for many years. The cottage is managed by local people. Linen and towels are provided by the White Bedding Company.
Why Mrs Anita Rendall chose Hawes
West Witton is a vibrant village with a wonderful restaurant, a real ale pub, village shop and wonderful walking. We have always loved the market town of Leyburn which is about 2 miles away and has additional good places to eat (The Sandpiper) and a variety of shops to meet all needs. Access to all the Dales and other places to visit is easy from West Witton. We found the cottage when visiting the Wensleydale Heifer on a snowy night in 2013 and loved it.

Fantastic property great location.
The owner of this property has thought of everything. Well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Wood for the fire, loads of information on where to go what to see and walks in the area. Left milk tea coffee and biscuits for arrival which was great! Cottage was clean and welcoming and we had a fantastic time in the fox and hounds. Very friendly great food. Would love to go back and stay here again one day. The hotel next door also very welcoming and had a delicious steak cooked to perfection. The surrounding countryside is just wonderful for walking. We visited Castle Bolton and had a great lunch there as well. If you looking for a lovely little break definately stay here. Booking was straight forward and the owner very welcoming. Thank you
Lovely Cottage in a lovely location
Really enjoyed our stay here.. Lovely Cottage and in a great location for visiting other Villages and Towns in Yorkshire. There's also two places to dine in right on the doorstep, one a local pub which does very nice basic pub meals and the Wensleydale Heifer Restaurant which is excellent! There's also a local store only a few yards from the Cottage. If we visited this area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay in this Cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. It was beautiful and clean and very comfortable, We are already planning our next visit. In a good position for getting around the Dales. We had a fantastic meal at Wensleydale Heifer.
Thank you so much for this review and we are so pleased that you had such a great time in the Dales and at the Heifer. It is a treat to have such a good restaurant within walking distance of the cottage.
Please do come again.
With best wishes,
rose cottage is a lovely period cottage with lots of period features. Very well equipped.
We loved our visit to Wensleydale which must be one of the most beautiful of the dales. The only downside was that the cottage got quite cold in the evenigs despite keeping the heating on. Yet it was cosy in the mornings.
Although my son lives in Harrogate I had never been to the north dales before and was most impressed.I am now recommending a visit to my friends.
Thank you for this review and we are pleased that you enjoyed our cottage.
We are sorry that you were not cosy enough - because most of the downstairs of the cottage has been opened up, it gives space, light and flexibility. However it is perhaps not as cosy as smaller spaces.
We have done everything we can to make the cottage warm and comfortable - an effective heating system which can be adjusted in terms of both temperature and timings, powerful wood burner, double glazing, electric damp course and thick curtain over the front door. The cottage dates from the 1720s which, of course, presents challenges as well as charms.
We hope you will return to enjoy it again.
with kind regards,
