This charming one bedroom apartment in the tree-lined residential area of Notting Hill west London has a pretty garden and is furnished with antiques and original pictures. It has a newly equipped kitchen and bathroom, separate dining room and study. It is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the sights of London, theatreland and West End restaurants with tube and buses nearby. Only one minutes walk from the famous Portobello antiques market and public transport there is a wide range of local shops and restaurants as well as two cinemas only a few minutes away.
I have been letting the apartment successfully for several years and have plenty of good reviews to share. It has been highly rated by Trip Advisor. Notting Hill London is very convenient and fashionable and the apartment is very near public transport and Portobello Road antiques market.
Lorna Bourke purchased this apartment in 1980
I originally bought the apartment for my younger daughter and I lived nearby elsewhere in Notting Hill.
The apartment in fashionable Notting Hill is completely self contained with a pretty garden and is only a few hundred yards from public transport (Ladbroke Grove tube which is on the Hammersmith & City line - convenient for Heathrow and Heathrow express from nearby Paddington). Buses, taxis, local restaurants and shops (Tesco and Sainsbury's local which are both open until midnight) are only a hundred yards away. The famous Portobello Road antiques market is just one minute's walk and West End theatres and restaurants are no more than a 15 minute tube journey.
The apartment has a wide screen smart TV with Sky Sport HD as well as broadband, Bose CD player and Ipod dock. The kitchen is fully equipped with a separate dining room and a small study. All linen and cleaning is provided.
We have just arrived back in Cornwall. Your apartment was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We seem to have had a hectic time-we went to the opera at Covent Garden (wonderful), the PRB exhibition at the Tate Britain and saw a film at the most luxurious cinema we have ever been to, the Electric Cinema on the Portobello Road! And thankyou for the bottle of wine
We wanted to tell you it was a real privilege to stay in your well-appointed apartment! It was exactly 'us', from the lovely dining area to the bath, the artworks, the light! The kitchen was such fun - it had absolutely everything we needed - we may have used all your plates! Best regards Meg (Nowack)
Notting Hill is a great place to stay with lovely independent cafes and shops on the doorstep, plus a convenient underground (Ladbrook Grove) to the rest of London only a few hundred metres away. Lovely subterranean apartment for two, cosy bedroom with comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen (and cupboards stocked with food), open living room / dining conservatory opening onto small garden which gives lots of light. We didn't sit out in the garden as it was cold in November; although it does give outside space it is right below the main A40 Westway and when we opened the conservatory doors the traffic noise was intrusive. The apartment itself was double glazed, so there was no traffic or other noise at all inside and we slept very well indeed. People with limited mobility should be aware of the steep stairs leading down to the front door which can be tricky in the dark and slippery in Autumn. Overall a very pleasant, clean and well appointed apartment with lots of charm and character. We'd certainly like to stay again, but would avoid booking through Owners Direct as they whop on an extra 6% hidden charge for on-line booking.
Lorna is a generous host. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much.
A generously equipped, beautifully presented apartment with interesting art and books. It is very comfortable and the garden was a delight. It is very close to Ladbroke Tube and is well served with Bus routes.
Above all the owner provides invaluable information on the area ,advice on restruants, transport links etc.We often rent apartments and this is among the very best we have experienced. Many thanks Lorna.
We had 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Situated so close to Ladbroke Grove tube station, the whole of London is in easy reach. The apartment is well furnished and the owner encouraged us to use anything we needed (even including the food cupboards)! There are lots of interesting pictures on the walls and these add to the warm, homely feel of the place. The weather was very hot during our stay and the private garden at the rear was well used. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the lack of air conditioning in the unusually high temperatures but I would definitely stay again and I've recommended it to all of my friends.
We had a wonderful time in this ground floor flat. We especially appreciated the dining room/sunroom that so brightened up the place. We also appreciated how well equipped the kitchen was, both in terms of utensils and food essentials, such as spices, oils etc. Lorna was very helpful in providing advice in getting around. Once we mastered the tube system we had no trouble making our way from this location to Central London. After a hectic day of touring the City, it was wonderful to come back to this little oasis. This apartment would have to be one of the best equipped small garden flats in London. It is clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Media streaming services are extensive and include secure WiFi or wired Ethernet, as well as what amounts to full home office facilities if required.
Transport , both bus and tube, is but a short walk away, as are Tesco or Sainsburys metro stores. Portobello Market likewise.
Highly recommend for single or couple.
Heathrow is 30 minutes away by taxi or tube (Piccadilly and Hammersmith & City Line). Gatwick and Stansted can both be reached by tube with the nearest tube station being Ladbroke Grove which goes direct to Liverpool Street (for Stansted) and Paddington (for Heathrow Express). Victoria for Gatwick is one change away at Baker Street. There are plenty of taxis which service all the main line stations or drive direct to any London airport.
Notting Hill is in a residential area of West London and all places of interest in London can be reached by public transport within 15 minutes (West End theatres and restaurants) or around 45 minutes to places like Kew Gardens, O2 Arena and Greenwich.
Local facilities include late night shopping at Tesco and Sainsbury's both selling everything from fresh meat and vegetables to basic groceries and both with ATMs. There are good local restaurants (pizza, Chinese, Indian Turkish, Italian etc) with several takeaways for those who don't want to cook. Notting Hill has one of the best fish and chip restaurants in London (Geales) as well as a branch of Itsu (Japanese). There is also a local hairdresser, optician, dentist, doctor, several pharmacies and a wide range of other shops.
