La Faulquière is perched upon a hillside just 1.5km from the village of La Garde Freinet and enjoys fabulous and uninterrupted panoramic views across the surrounding mountainside and down across the valley to the Golf of St. Tropez. La Faulquière is in a quiet and secluded location, set in a large garden of approximately 10,000m2. It is not overlooked by any neighbouring properties. The villa is accessed via a gated driveway and benefits from a car-port which is suitable for two cars. La Faulquière is a comfortable family home rather than a cutting edge luxurious villa. Whilst it is a two-storey property, the master bedroom suite is the sole room located on the first floor and, as such, is very private. It is comprised of a good sized bedroom with a king-sized bed and en-suite consisting of shower, wc and twin basins. It also has the benefit of a sunny private terrace. It enjoys the same spectacular views that are visible from nearly all rooms in the villa, but from a higher elevation. A further four bedrooms are located in the eastern wing of the ground floor and are comprised of a large studio suite, with king sized bed, day bed (can be used as a single bed), sitting area, TV and DVD player, en-suite shower room and private terrace, two king-sized bedrooms (one of which is capable of being set up as a twin bedded room) and one double bedroom. The two king-sized doubles and the double bedroom share a family bathroom consisting of a shower, bath, wc and twin basins. Within the western wing of the ground floor there is a large lounge, with an informal dining area, which opens onto a large covered terrace via large sliding and patio doors. The covered terrace features an outdoor eating area for al fresco dining, whilst an uncovered patio area contains a large Weber barbecue and bistro set for those who wish to sit in direct sunshine. The lounge is equipped with HD TV, receiving both French cable tv and English Sky HD (including movie and sports channels) and a surround sound system. It also features a large open fire, which provides a very homely feel during the early spring, autumn and winter months. There is a fully fitted and equipped kitchen, a utility room and a separate dining area for more formal dining or dining during the cooler months of the year. The pool is in sun nearly all day, being south facing, and measures approx. 9 x 4 metres. The garden also benefits from a half-court (for tennis, badminton, basket ball and with 5-aside football nets), a boules pitch, table tennis table and trampoline. The garden is well-established and there are shaded areas in all parts of it for those who prefer to enjoy the warmth out of direct sunlight. The local village, La Garde-Freinet, provides all you would need to enjoy your stay including two excellent butchers, two bakers/patisseries, and two grocers. There are markets on Wednesday and Sunday morning where plenty of fresh local produce, flowers and souvenirs are available. There is a great wine shop and, of course, cafés, bars and restaurants which mean that you do not have to venture out of the village for a good night out. Just down the road, the medieval village of Grimaud also has excellent restaurants. St. Maxime and St. Tropez, with their ports and beaches, offer the very best of shopping, restaurants, café culture and night-life and are just a short drive away.
We are a professional couple with infant and teenage children. We live in Jersey in the Channel Islands and La Faulquière provides us with a dream family holiday home.
Rachel Catchpole purchased this villa in 2009
The villa was purchased for its stunning view and its proximity to the beautiful village of La Garde-Freinet. Whilst staying at the villa you are filled with a sense of peace and tranquillity, far from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. The villa provides a relaxed and comfortable environment in which to enjoy quality time with family and friends. It has everything that one needs for people of all ages from those who want to play tennis or basket-ball or bounce on the trampoline to those who prefer to relax on the terrace or by the pool or play a game of boules or, indeed, simply to sit and enjoy the spectacular scenery with a glass of the excellent local rosė in hand.
We stayed here for two weeks in July/August. There were 7 of us - four adults and 3 children. The house is very conveniently situated to the town - though a car is necessary. It is also convenient for trips to Port Grimaud and St Tropez.
As soon as the gates open to the house your breath is taken away by the amazing view. The house itself is spacious, homely and very well equipped. The cleaner comes in once a week to change the bedding and towels and to clean the house. There are many seating and dining areas so if you fancy a moment of peace by yourself it is no problem. The verandah is a particularly nice place to sit with a glass of local wine enjoying the view and the peace and quiet.
There is plenty to keep you occupied, if you have the inclination. The half size tennis/football/basket ball court was a favourite with children, who could play even when the light was fading as it is floodlit. The pool was a good size and being salt water it meant that there were no red eyes from chlorine. We also had many Boule and Table Tennis tournaments!
The owner, Rachel, was a pleasure to deal with, and we would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact we really didn't want to leave.
Our family, ages ranging 29 to 66 stayed at La Faulquiere this June for a week and had a marvellous time. It is a lovely place. The house is in the most stunning location. Standing on the terrace looking at that view you really do feel that you are kings of the world and only the sound of other people enjoying themselves further down the hill occasionally reminds you that you do not have the hillside completely to yourself. The house and grounds are large and superbly equipped both inside and out. We made full use of all the sporting facilities – in fact there was so much on offer that we hardly needed to venture out. The village of La Garde Freinet is charming and if you are prepared to pay the higher prices you will find everything there that you need. We would have happily stayed longer.
We have no hesitation in recommending.
We have just returned to the UK after a wonderful two weeks at this well located property which has the most stunning views. There were three adults in our party who enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the place, and two teenagers who enjoyed the tennis and basketball and we all enjoyed the swimming pool and the odd game of boules. The villa was well maintained - as was the garden- and had everything we needed for a restful and enjoyable holiday. You will need a car and any one with walking difficulties may find the steps accessing the property and pool problematic.
Overall the property is highly recommended - I don't think you'll find a better villa at the price.
Our extended family group stayed here for 1 week. There were 5 adults and 2 young people (11 & 15 year old boys). We had a fantastic time because everything about the villa was perfect. Starting from the detailed instructions on what to expect to the amazingly well furnished kitchen. We cooked at the villa most nights & made good use of the gas BBQ. We got good meat from the local butcher and tuna steaks from the Wednesday market. There are good options for supermarkets not that far away as the local village is quite expensive. The villa was particularly well equipped with beautiful bed linen, towels and even the sports equipment to make full use of all the outdoor facilities. Our boys (& the adults) particularly loved the tennis & volley ball. The pool is a good size and stays warm. There was simply nothing missing to be able to enjoy a fabulous family get-away with a bit of luxury. I would certainly highly recommend this property.
