The Hay Barn

The Hay Barn has 6 bedrooms (3 on the ground floor), sleeps a maximum of 12 + 1 cot, & is attached to Stable Cottage. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRICE QUOTED HERE MAY BE WRONG.

Upstairs, there are 2 double rooms (1 with en suite), 1 twin room, and a house shower room. The ground floor has 2 twin rooms (1 with en suite), 1 double room with en suite, and the house bathroom. There is also a large lounge and a dining kitchen

It has the benefit of full LPG central heating, an electric fire in the lounge, TV, DVD player, and a payphone. The well-equipped kitchen has a range-style electric oven with gas hob, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and automatic washing machine. All beds have electric blankets, and are made up with duvets and bed linen (except for the cot), and towels are supplied if required

At the rear is a terrace with picnic furniture and shared use of the 1 acre paddock

All bed linen, towels, electricity and gas are included in the rental cost

Visit the family seaside resort of Scarborough, charming fishing port of Whitby, and quaint old smugglers’ haunts of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, or take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. The area has a wealth of ancient castles and abbeys, museums, stately homes and gardens to enjoy. To combine shopping and sightseeing, the historic city of York is only an hour away. For excitement, try mountain-biking, quad-biking, or forest high-wire adventure.

We have no broadband, and pick up e-mails only once a day. If you wish to enquire, or to book, it is quicker to telephone. If necessary, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
A deposit of 25% is due within 7 days of making the booking; the balance is due 1 month prior to the start of your holiday. Sorry, but we can only accept payments made by cheque

Changeover Day:
Both cottages are available to start your holiday on any day. Arrival is after 4 pm, and departure is by 10 am

Notes on prices:
All prices are inclusive of gas and electricity, and all bed linen (except for the cot) and towels.

A discount of 20% is offered when only 2 people book Stable Cottage off peak - please enquire.

Notes on accommodation: Both cottages are non-smoking and we are unable to accept pets, and stag- or hen-parties. We are also unable to rent both cottages to the same group Outside: Both cottages share a grass paddock where games may be played, and have garden seats and picnic tables on the terrace.

The east coast of North Yorkshire has a variety of beaches, all within easy reach by car. The fishing port of Whitby, with its sandy beaches is 17 miles. Robin Hood's Bay, popular with fossil hunters, is 22 miles, and the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough with its 2 sandy bays separated by the headland with the old town and its castle is 29 miles

Travel:

Our rural location means that a car is essential for getting around the area.

York is probably the most useful railway station, with car hire facilities on site. Travel from there is 38 miles, approximately 1 hour

Distances:

Our nearest village is Rosedale Abbey, 2 miles away. A further 10 miles is the small market town of Pickering, with its castle and the North Yorkshire Moors preserved railway.

The historic city of York is 37 miles, and you will pass the magnificent Castle Howard on the way.

Further Details:

Rosedale Abbey has a small shop, 2 cafes, and 3 pubs/restaurants. Pickering has a variety of small shops, 2 supermarkets, a post office, and a branch of many of the banks.
