Orchard Cottage Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms)

Orchard Cottage (graded 4 stars by the tourist board) is half of a converted 19th Century cartshed with 2 bedrooms - one double and one twin- and a bathroom on the first floor. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen comprising of oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/drier. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player as well as a radio/CD player in the sitting room. A woodburning stove is laid and ready for lighting with an ample supply of logs for your stay with us. Free WIFI is provided and our prices are fully inclusive of heating, electricity, linen and towels (bath sheet and hand towel per person). A weekly linen change is also provided.

Orchard Cottage is adjacent to Carters Cottage which makes them ideal destinations for two families travelling together.

There is gravel parking immediately outside the cottages with ample space for at least 4 cars.

About the property

The cottages are converted from a 19th century open fronted cart-shed within the environs of our Grade 11* listed 16th Century farmhouse with its traditional granary and dovecot. The accommodation comprises of two bedrooms - one double and one twin - with a bathroom on the first floor. Off the hallway downstairs is a shower room, and a half glazed door leads into a sitting room with wood burning stove, following through to a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. Patio doors lead out of the sitting room onto a paved area with garden furniture and BBQ which is part of an enclosed south facing garden overlooking open farmland. During the summer months our pedigree herd of Devon cattle can often be seen grazing the pastures around the cottages. There is also an abundance of wild and bird life including deer, badgers, finches, tits, woodpeckers, owls etc. On the farm we work closely with the RSPB and are in the a higher level environmental stuardship scheme. The cottages are very well equipped for those who like to cook while away. There is central heating throughout and they are very well insulated making them an ideal destination all year round. Enjoy a selection of games/puzzles and a bookcase full of books, comfy chairs with a wood burning stove to curl up in front of. For the more energetic there are plenty of walks from the front door and Northmoor is on the Oxfordshire Cycle Way. The village boasts a community pub within 2 minutes walk which opened Easter 2014 and serves delicious locally sourced food. Village shops are in two adjacent villages - 2 miles away. Witney is 7 miles away and has several major supermarkets, high street shops as well as independent traders and Free Parking! Blenheim Palace, Kelmscott Manor, Oxford, the Cotswolds, Bampton - the 'Downton Abbey Village' are all within easy reach. The owner lives on site and is always on hand to offer advice and to recommend places to explore.

About Mary Anne Florey

I have been welcoming guests to Rectory Farm in our self catering cottages since July 1996. Our family has farmed here since 1915 and we are passionate about our little corner of Oxfordshire! We live in the farmhouse, a short distance away from the cottages and are on hand to answer any questions you may have or to help you plan that special day out or advise on the best places to eat.

Our son James joined us on the farm in January 2013 and both he and Robert take great pride in our herd of pedigree Devon Cattle - 'The Red Rubies'. During calving time a visit to our new farmyard, half a mile away is a treat. During your stay beef, eggs from our hens, preserves and honey can usually be purchased from us.

We look forward to welcoming you to this quiet peaceful area of rural England.

Rectory Farm Cottages are brilliant! superb would not rate them too highly.The cottages are warm, comfortable,extremely well equipped with all you need and extras.-it is really home from home.We have been to other self catering cottages and none could match these.

The owner is very friendly but efficient in every way-she provided an excellent service if one needed any help.We always try to book Rectory Farm and only go elsewhere if we cannot get a booking at this location

There is a travel cot available for hire at £10.00 per booking which is supplied with a bottom sheet. Outside: Both cottages have enclosed south facing gardens incorporating a paved area with garden furniture and BBQ as well as a lawn area. There is a rotary clothes line in both gardens. A gravel parking area is immediately in front of both properties.
