Holiday cottage in Reydon, Nr. Southwold, Suffolk, England - Peaceful Location, A Minute From The Marshes And 10 Minutes Walk From Southwold High Street And Pier
About Judy Cullen-Moore
Some friends invited us to stay with them in their cottage in Reydon back in 2005. We fell in love with the area and visited as often as possible. We dreamt of having our own place here. When my mum sadly died two years ago we were able to use her legacy to realise our dream. The cottage is named after her. We've enjoyed renovating it, adding our stamp and making it as cosy and homely as possible. It gives us the perfect chance to do what we love best: walking, cycling, sitting by log fires in lovely pubs or settling in for the evening in front of our woodburner with friends and family. We hope you enjoy coming here as much as we do.

What makes this Cottage unique
We love the fact that we can pop to the shop when we need things without having to plan in advance or can send our son when we're cooking and find we're short of something vital. We love eating al-fresco in our secluded and sunny garden. Even though you can't see the sea you know it's not far when you spot the top of the lighthouse from the front bedroom.

Nice clean family cottage.
Nicely kept cottage, just outside Southwold, but within a short walk of the pier end of the beach front. All amenities required for a short stay including a dishwasher and washing machine. nice and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. On road parking was hit and miss as it is a public road, but there was usually a spot available.
Lovely house in Reydon
Perfect house for a holiday in southwold. The house has everything you need and is beautifully presented. Only 10 minutes stroll into southwold and a shop directly across the road open early and late. Communication with Judy before and after made everything go very smoothly. Would definitely return.
The booking process and getting check in details was really good using the Home Away app.
Judy responded really quickly to questions I had so communication with the owners was great.
The cottage is in a good location for visiting Southwold. Nevertheless, the children (youngest 4) cannot walk far so took the car to the pier car park, a less than 5 min drive away! Did mean we got an early start which was good.
The property was clean and nicely decorated.
I did need to wash up the pans before using them. Also, there was something wrong with the microwave - it seemed to remain on after I opened the door and was rather noisy so didn't dare use it again. Other than that our stay was comfortable and very enjoyable.
Thanks for your feedback Anita. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend at Bridget's cottage. I'm sorry to hear that you had to wash the pans before use - I'll ask Anna to check them between guests. Thank you for letting me know about the microwave, which I'll replace. All the best Judy
Great location, comfortable and cosy
We came again without a car and though the weather wasn't brilliant, the shop over the road, the easy access to Southwold and the wonderful walks just outside the house, made everything seem so easy and enjoyable that we forgot the wind and rain! In fact, the weather made the cottage feel more cosy than ever.
Thanks so much Sally. We’re so pleased you had a lovely time despite the weather and the fact that you find the cottage cosy and comfortable means the world to us.
Hope to see you again soon.

Lovely cottage in a good location
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped and it was great to have a shop opposite the road. It was a great stay away from it all.
Thanks so much Britta for this lovely review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Perfect for our needs.
Home away from home
Thanks so much Vivienne, we're so glad you found the cottage home from home as this is exactly what we want our guests to feel.
Hope to hear from you again sometime.
All the best

Around 10-15 minutes walk to North Beach and Southwold's traditional pier via a variety of routes including a scenic footpath over the marshes along side Buss Creek. The promenade, with its picturesque beach huts and cafes, stretches all the way to Southwold's sand dunes. Beyond the dunes is the working harbour where you can buy fresh fish from one of the fish huts or go crabbing. There are boat trips along the coast and a little ferry across to Walberswick.
Southwold is 10 minutes off the A12. If coming by rail the nearest station is Darsham, a 15 minutes taxi ride. There is a regular train service to Darsham via Ipswich from London Liverpool Street. Alternatively, you can come to Halesworth, where there is a bus service to Southwold.
Norwich is just under an hour away. Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings Concert Hall 35 minutes drive. Orford 45 minutes drive. Walberswick 5 miles by road, 3 miles walk/cycle over the footbridge at Southwold Harbour. Given the variety of footpaths you can easily get to a lots of lovely coastal and rural locations on foot or by bike.
There's an excellent village shop opposite the cottage where you can buy everything you need from butcher's meat to wine and woolly hats! In the unlikely event that you can't find what you need at Barbrookes , there are 2 supermarkets in town and many independent shops, not to mention the cafes, pubs, delis and restaurants if you don't feel like cooking! There's also a traditional fish and chip shop and an Indian take away.
Apart from walking, cycling, swimming in the sea and exploring the stunning coastline, there are many other things to do in Southwold and the local area. There are tennis courts in Southwold and the recreation ground in Reydon (with childrens play equipment and exercise bikes). A little further afield, there is the Lido outdoor pool in Beccles, an indoor pool (with flume) in Bungay and Afica Live at Kessingland. You can also visit places of historical interest such as Sutton Hoo and Framlingham Castle.
Music lovers can enjoy live music at times during the summer on South Green, folk music in the Harbour Inn or the Latitude Festival (in July).
There is also an excellent Summer Theatre in Southwold.
