About Mrs H E Bailey
I spent four wonderful years renovating this property, dealing with French artisan builders on a daily basis and exploring the beautiful surrounding area, now that the work is done, I adore the comfort, peace and tranquillity that the house offers. I hope all visitors enjoy their stay here as much as I do.
Mrs H E Bailey purchased this House in 2010
Why Mrs H E Bailey chose Périgueux
This quiet corner of rural France is a complete antidote to the rigours and stresses of English working life.
What makes this House unique
Everything French, the food, the drink etc. plus complete relaxation and the freedom to roam in unspoilt tranquil countryside.

Lovely as always!!
This was our third summer staying at this delightful property, a real home from home for us now and always an absolute joy and pleasure to return to for adults and kids alike. Five blissful weeks of fun in the sun... Thank you Heather, Anita and Anil - we had a brilliant time yet again!!
Fantastic facilities and appointments Pool gorgeous Welcome and care faultless Tranquill area no
Great time stunning house and great place to chill No traffic Woodlands amazing Area very french and friendly Will not hesitate to go again did not want to leave
Gorgeous tranquil setting
This was our second visit, the first being in 2014. Sometimes you worry that returning to a place might destroy the magic of the first visit...but not here. The house is in a quiet hamlet but you have everything around you. The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Everything from cooking equipment to bed linen is of the highest standard. The pool is set in the courtyard and is a main feature of your holiday experience. Anita and Anil who maintain the property are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The local Auberge is worth patronising for both lunch and dinner. Fabulous local produce, beautifully prepared and at a very reasonable price. Villamblard is your nearest village with local amenities. Bergerac and Perigueux are fabulous towns in easy reach. We had a period of cooler weather following a major storm in the area but there is still plenty to do in the area. The troglodyte village at La Vezere and the caves at Tourtoirac are worth the hour drive to visit. Another wonderful holiday. Thank you Heather, Anita and Anil.
Wonderful return visit - home from home!
After a fabulous week in this beautiful property last July we had no hesitation booking again this summer and enjoyed a wonderful six week family holiday in what we consider a home from home :)
Heather, the owner, couldn't be more friendly and helpful, addressing any queries or requests you may have, and a wonderful local couple is on hand to take care of the house and pool.
It is obvious that a lot of love, care and attention to detail have gone into creating this house and there are many homely touches dotted around the various rooms. It is beautifully finished with more than a hint of French chicness, fully equipped with all kitchen and household appliances and gadgets, wifi'd for those of us that can't live without our technology and has a superb swimming pool in which the children spent most of their time during the gloriously hot mid-summer days.
The property is secluded and secure, set within a countryside hamlet comprising a small cluster of houses, yet it is only a short 5 minute drive to the small town of Villamblard with its lovely boulangerie, boucherie, well-stocked convenience store and fabulous outdoor 25m municipal swimming pool and floodlit tennis courts of which we made good use! The gorgeous towns of Bergerac and Perigueux are a half hour drive away and both well worth a visit or two, with Bordeaux, St Emillion and Sarlat slightly further afield for day trips.
We love it in the Dordogne and love it in Jaures - thank you, Heather. We had a brilliant holiday.... yet again!!
A Great Escape
A beautifully restored farmhouse and barn providing three very comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms one ensuite. Downstairs there is a large and spendidly comfortable living room with a spacious kitchen and dining area. The furnishings and fittings are all of the highest quality. Behind the house there is a completely private and walled swimming pool and terrace area. The words which spring to mind are escape, tranquillity, quiet, luxury, peace and relax.
Although hidden away in a tiny hamlet of around half a dozen houses providing you with a wonderful sense of solitude, the bakery is just a five minute drive away and it is under thirty minutes to the delightful towns of Bergerac and Perigeaux. The Chateuax Monbazillac is a 'must visit' and the one hour leisurely drive to St.Emilion is well worth the effort. The nearby auberge at Villamblard serves a very good meal with a friendly patron at a very fair price.
All in all a wonderful holiday, in a beautiful house, in idyllic surroundings. What more could one ask!
