La Bergerie located within Le Monastère is a conversion of a former convent, set within its own 7 acres of grounds bounded by Vouvant’s fortified ramparts and river, with private fishing and boating.
The property set within the private landscaped grounds has it’s own garden and fishing boat. It also provides many facilities including a large shared outdoor heated pool, satellite television, secure parking, laundry room, and an entry com system.
The grounds have been designed to provide secluded areas for picnics and barbeques, and peaceful hideaways to allow you to enjoy the tranquility. Providing the opportunity for leisurely walks and peaceful contemplation in a natural setting surrounded by evidence of the village’s fascinating history.
The front of the monastery overlooks the Romanesque church and village square, round the corner from the village shops, which include a boulangerie (for the daily baguette), a grocer, gift shops, cafés and restaurants, all the shops you would expect in a lively French village. The village is also a center for art, with working ateliers and a calendar of cultural events.
Slightly further afield, within 10-15mins drive, are all the amenities of typical French market towns (supermarkets, banks). The village and area offer access to many outdoor sports including tennis, horse riding, boating, walking, kayaking, cycling, and paragliding.
The region boasts the highest number of sunshine hours on the Atlantic coast and a wide range of attractions: quaint villages, chic resorts, medieval architecture, ancient forests, sandy beaches, walking, cycling, golf, markets, regional cuisine and vineyards.
