Nice villa with perfect views over Calan Porter cove
Casa Sophia definitely has the wow factor - it's stylish, modern and has a luxury feel. The view overlooking the beach and cliffs of Calan Porter is the highlight. The only let down was the cleanliness - bedsheets were stained and well used but as there only three of us we had extra sets available and the outdoor seating was heavily stained so we'd recommend taking extra towels. When we had to contact the property manager she was responsive and helpful. The town itself is full of lovely restaurants and has a really friendly vibe. Plenty of supermarkets nearby where you'll need to buy hand soap, washing up liquid, cleaning products, salt and pepper etc. All in all a great stay!
Beautiful location but communication and villa a little disappointing
The outdoor space and view from Villa Sophia are spectacular and if the weather had been a touch warmer we would have spent all our time out there. Although four of us had planned to travel in the end it was just my husband and I that were able to go and although we were comfortable enough there was not enough indoor space for more than four people in my opinion. Only just enough comfortable seats for 6 people and a table for 2 indoors which if the weather is poor is simply not enough. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well equiped if a little mismatched, however, there was no cleaning kit of any kind - not even a toilet brush - which was a bit disappointing and towels were bleach stained although clean. Washing machine did not work either. A little more attention to detail would make this place worth the price tag. Natalie, the contact in Menorca, was fantastically helpful and always available - however if we had been sent the correct information in the first place - we probably wouldn't have needed to contact her at all. Overall a beautiful place and a comfortable villa but not quite up to standard at present.
Thank you for your review.
We are sorry you misread the email with the entry instructions and I’m glad Natalie answered within a couple of minutes.
The sun shines over 300 days per year in Menorca, and the best period is from May - October. April is very early season and priced accordingly so. We are sorry it rained, but we can’t control the weather.
We are sorry 6 seats were not sufficient for 2 of you. The photos of the living area are on the website but perhaps you should consider a larger villa as clearly inside space is an important issue.
The washing machine is new, and we replace our towels and linen every year.
Regarding the price - you paid £550, which is 15% of the peak summer price. Perhaps you should try a cheaper area of Spain next time. Benidorm perhaps ?
Amazing villa, well equipped, stunning view and close to all amenities. Already booked to come back next year!
Beautiful villa in stunning location
Just returned from a wonderful week in this villa.
The balcony looks over the beach below with breathtaking views of the cliffs! We so enjoyed admiring the scene from the pool or at cocktail hour.
It's only a short walk down the beach and the supermarket in Cala en porter.
The manager gave us great recommendations for day trips and restaurants. There's so many lovely places to see and do. We would advise getting a car to go explore the island.
We wish we had stayed longer as our week flew by! Perfect for families or just couples who want a lovely relaxing week. Can't wait to return soon!
Amazing views, pool and location!
We loved our stay at Casa Sophia. Natalie the villa manager couldn't have been more accommodating, and easy to contact via whatsapp/phone. Thanks again for the recommendation for restaurants, we had THE BEST paella at El Pulpo, a 5 minute walk away.
LOCATION- We have stayed in Cala'n Porter previously and so already know the town. We aren't fans of the 'British tourist' style bars and restaurants located there, but these are easily avoided, the rest of the town is pretty and serene past the strip down the centre. The beach is phenomenal and the reason why we chose to stay in Cala'n Porter again. Free parking, safe clear water, cheap sun beds, shop, toilets and cafes. Even in high season it's nowhere near crowded, a real gem! Cala'n Porter is also in super close proximity to main roads to other towns, Mahon, the airport and supermarkets... all a short drive away.
THE VILLA - the views from the terrace at Casa Sophia can't be beaten! It is worth staying there just for that alone. The pool has a hidden waterfall feature which my step-son loved! There's plenty of room to sunbathe and eat outside.
Inside the villa there is plenty of air conditioning, sky, wifi and everything you would need (iron etc). The showers have two different options, power shower or the one that rains on you. We had plenty of towels and use of the washing machine (although we couldn't quite figure it out!). The beds are clean and comfortable and although the rooms are slightly smaller than the pictures look, you spend hardly any time inside anyway. We pretty much lived on the terrace!
Our only very small (and constructive) criticism would be that in one room we had no real storage space apart from a tiny rail and shelf built into the side of the bunk bed. This meant my husband and I lived out of our suitcases. There was also no useable plug to use a hairdryer or anywhere to put make-up/toiletries, so we ended up using the plugs/mirror in the living room for this, which we didn't mind doing. The villa would also benefit from a dishwasher, as it's hard to keep on top of it with a large group of people staying.
Saying that, we would most certainly book again regardless and highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing so!
If hiring a car, there is no designated parking, but we managed to park on the road just above the villa extremely close by on all occasions, and that was with a large van!
If you're considering booking, do so, it's a really special place to stay!
Fabulous views. Warm pool modern clean and private
Sunsets over the bay were amazing. Kids loved the pool and views. Sky sports was a bonus.
