About Karen Robinson

Having taken holidays & short breaks in the UK with my husband & 2 now teenage boys for many years, we've seen the whole spectrum of accommodation - excellent, poor & indifferent. We have always thought it would be amazing to try and create the perfect holiday for others and Choose Amuse is our interpretation.

Karen Robinson purchased this house in 2013

Why Karen Robinson chose Walkington

We bought and renovated Choose Amuse in September 2013 and as a family we've poured our lives into it. We hope we have made it special and that it will capture your hearts too.

The mews house is in our home village of Walkington, which we all love & cherish. The village has both beauty and charm and boasts excellent facilities including 3 superb pubs. It's a perfectly placed gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds and the coast, and Choose Amuse is a mere 3 miles from the bustling market Town of Beverley which boasts a splendid gothic Minster. Amble through the quaint cobbled streets and side roads browsing in the many independent retailers or up market chains stores. Here you can also sample delicious local produce both in the twice weekly markets and in our fabulous delicatessens. Beverley also has a thriving cafe culture and offers several fabulous little coffee shops to while away the hours with a friend, a newspaper or a slice of homemade cake. Beverley is now blessed with its very own contemporary retail and leisure complex - Flemingate, in the heart of the town centre. The development aims to marry together the beauty and charm of our historic old town with the convenience of modern and high spec facilities. Recently completed in Autumn 2015 the complex includes a 5 screen cinema several new eateries and cafes and popular high street retail outlets. At night Beverley comes alive and offers something for everyone. Splendid eateries which include gastro pubs, lively wine bars and even Michelin stared and rated fine dining restaurants can all be found within the Town and within the immediate surrounding area. Traditional pubs serving real ales with cosy log fires and a welcoming smile are plentiful in the market area too.

What makes this house unique

The mews has been completely re-fitted and transformed. It now offers guests hotel standard quality with luxurious touches here and there, but also practical necessities which will make your short break or holiday that bit more relaxing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are here and loving it! What a gorgeous place - we have stayed in some fabulous cottages etc..... but this kinda takes the biscuit. You have immaculate taste.

As far as self catering accommodation goes I can't rate this place highly enough. It was clean, tidy and has everything you need from cleaning products to pleasentries such as tea and coffee. There was even a pint of milk in the fridge and a lovely dainty hamper of treats including chocolates, short bread, crisps and wine! Seriously I've not received such nice treats at five star hotels!

The place is so nice and quiet, and is situated in a delightful little village.

As for the owner, what can I say, other than top notch. So responsive and kind, and ridiculously helpful, so much so that there's a picture of her face next to the word helpful in the Oxford Dictionary.

Thank you for making our stay blinking nice. We're already looking forward to our return🙂 and moving in!😁

Owner's Response: This actually made me laugh out loud!! I certainly hope my photo isn't in the dictionary, what a shock that would be for spell checkers. Perfect property

This holiday mews is decorated and furnished to a very high quality, every little detail has been thought about. It is situated in a beautiful village, where there are 3 excellent pubs in walking distance and a cost cutter store that is very well stocked.

All contact with Karen (the owner) has been brilliant, from booking the holiday through to our departure and any queries you might have she responds immediately. She really can't do enough for you.

I would highly recommend Karen and her beautiful mews to everyone. You won't be disappointed.

Home from Home

Myself and my mother have just returned from a 5 day stay at this property. As someone who enjoys all home comforts and usually packs everything but the kitchen sink I was delighted to find somewhere that makes you feel that everything has been thought of for you. The Mews is tastefully decorated to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. The beautiful welcome gift and note from Karen is a lovely touch. I cannot wait to return for a few more days. Thank you Karen for a wonderful stay.

We'll choose Amuse again!!

Fantastic communication from the outset with owner Karen. On arrival we were greeted with treats and a welcome card. This personal touch meant everything to us. Even our pooch had a chew! Fresh, spotless, modern, light and airy. Attention to detail in the property was absolutely fantastic. Everything had been thought of, floor wipes, sponges, tea towels, tea, coffee, sugar, condiments, butter and milk! These things have been sadly lacking in other places we have stayed and it really does make all the difference on arrival to have these things. The beds were incredibly comfortable, décor was amazing - even an X box and games, drawer full of DVDs, hair dryer, magazines and books! I can't stress enough how absolutely everything has been thought of. It was lovely to chill in the garden with the doors into the property open with a short distance to the kitchen where food wise, everything was at hand for us - even a chiller drinks cabinet! We met one set of neighbours who were very pleasant. He welcomed us from the off and had a little chat and said have a safe journey home! For us the fact our little boy with high anxiety felt settled there, said it all. Places have to have a friendly atmosphere for him and this place certainly satisfied his needs. I'm obsessed with the corner light - took many pictures and hope to find one myself! We're very lucky to have stayed here - it was luxury for us. Thank you so much Karen. I'd advise everyone venturing up to East Yorkshire to consider this property for sure!! x
