Stone Green Oast is a traditional square kiln oast converted to comfortable holiday accommodation. This is an "upside-down" house. Steps lead up to the main entrance upstairs where there is an open-plan sitting and dining room and a separate well equipped kitchen. An open engineered spiral staircase leads downstairs to the bathroom and bedrooms (1 double and one twin). The master bedroom has french doors which lead up a short flight of steps to the pretty enclosed garden. Outside there is good quality garden furniture, a barbeque and secure storage for bikes. 2 adult bikes are available for use by guests. The property is situated on the Saxon Shoreway, in a quiet hamlet, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 3/4 mile from the nearest public house. The nearest shop is 2 miles away in Appledore and the Cinque Port market town of Tenterden is 7 miles. The ancient town of Rye, which has an open-air market on Thursdays, is 5 miles away. The property is ideally situated to explore the wide variety of activities that Kent and Sussex coast offer. The owners will be here to greet you upon arrival, and a generous welcome pack of local produce is provided.

About Amanda Button

We moved to Stone in Oxney a few years ago with our five children and four dogs. All our children have grown up and moved away now, so we decided to make the oast available as a holiday cottage. We enjoy staying in holiday cottages ourselves, and know how difficult it can be to find the right one, especially if you have dogs. We aim to offer you a hospitable welcome and comfortable stay, with everything you need to make it your own.

We love it here, and hope that you will too.

Why Amanda Button chose Kent

We moved here because of its proximity to the beautiful countryside in Kent and East Sussex, and its closeness to the sea. There are lots of enjoyable walks for the dogs, as well as good cycle routes, usually with a decent pub nearby! There is always something going on, but plenty of peace and quiet as well. Camber Sands is only a few miles away, as are the loveliest small towns in Kent and East Sussex, such as Rye and Tenterden.

What makes this cottage unique

This a traditional Kent oast, with a square kiln and a moving cowl pointing out the wind direction. We hope that you will enjoy the high standard of furnishings at Stone Green Oast, the spacious enclosed garden and, above all, the unique character of the property. With just two bedrooms, it is cosy and comfortable. The upstairs reception rooms are beautifully converted with oak flooring and balustrading, and a fantastic spiral staircase which is not out of place with the traditional oak beams that can be found throughout. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, and two adult cycles are available for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Notes on accommodation: Stone Green Oast has been rated 4*Gold by Visit England who say: 'Stone Green Oast is very well maintained and very well presented...and offers an extremely comfortable standard of high quality self-catering accommodation.' We can accommodate up to two clean, well behaved dogs. If you have more than two, we will consider this depending on size and type of dogs. Please contact us to discuss before booking. Please note, we have WiFi but it is not superfast - you can use it for email, web searches, social media etc, but it is a little slow for gaming and streaming. Outside: There is a well stocked, enclosed garden with shed housing barbeque, garden furniture and 2 adult bikes. There is a good sized lawn area ideal for children and dogs. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board, clothes airer, pegs and washing basket, vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, dustpan and brush in downstairs lobby. Retractable washing line outside. Cleaning materials provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Good quality towels and linen are provided. The property is cleaned weekly and at changeover time. Other: Entrance lobby with coats hooks and storage basket for canine sundries with spare leads, towels etc.

Fantastic holiday experience

This is a beautiful holiday home in a perfect location. Everything you could need has been thought of by Amanda to make your stay that much more relaxing and comfortable. The welcome goodies in the kitchen are a lovely touch. It is also child as well as dog friendly, and my 10 year old daughter didn't want to leave! We miss it already, thanks again Amanda for the perfect holiday getaway. Shelby, Laila and Bruce the dog.

Beautiful property and a warm welcome

This oasthouse has lots of character and is a gorgeous conversion. The living room is a lovely space, kitchen well equipped and beds v comfortable. The garden is lovely and completely enclosed. We have a dog, and Oscar was able to run about to his heart's content. The owner was very welcoming and left lots of useful things in the fridge. The area is great to visit - Rye is especially lovely - and there are some great walking routes nearby. We thoroughly recommend this property!

This deserves more than five stars!

Having stayed in quite a few holiday rentals this one goes straight to number one. Everything has been thought of and provided. The welcome food and drink pack is extensive and local, high quality products used where possible. Kitchen essentials such as cling film, foil, dishwasher tablets are all there ready for use. Same applies for bathroom supplies and the towels are large, white and fluffy.

When friends came to stay the Oast House easily and comfortably accommodated four adults along with our dog (Ellie).

The surrounding area is beautiful, coastal towns are within easy reach.

Stone in Oxney is a picture postcard English village and Tenterden a quintessential English country town. Good pub/restaurant within walking distance.

The owner is welcoming and helpful.

Nearby 'Paws, claws and doors' provided an excellent day care service for Ellie at a very reasonable price.

5 star stay

A delightful, well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage. There was a very warm welcome on arrival and the free range eggs, home baked bread and cake, plus other staple groceries was a lovely surprise. The owner has gone out of their way to ensure we had a lovely time while staying at Stone Green Oast. Its quirky conversion together with a pretty garden was very much in keeping with the local area.

Lots to see and do in the immediate area, Rye is well worth a visit and is practically on the door step. Good places to eat including the Ferry Inn which is in walking distance from the cottage.

There are also many good restaurants in Tenterden and Rye, and we have lots of welcoming, dog-friendly pubs in the area. The award winning Chapeldown Vineyard, with its excellent restaurant The Swan, is only 15 minutes drive from us. We are well situated for gardens such as Sissinghurst, Great Dixter and Batemans.
