We are currently looking for a booking for the entire week.

Quiet location within strolling distance of bustling Bowness with its shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms and Lake Windermere. Ideal base for cycling, walking, water sports, golf, riding and other outdoor activities or simply exploring the Lake District National Park.

Living room:

The spacious lounge/diner is equipped with a stylish walnut dining table, 4 chairs and sideboard, a bookcase, books, guides, oak carved chair, oak bureau, sumptuous 2 and 3 seat leather sofas, mahogany coffee table, 32" LED TV, blu-ray DVD player and WiFi.Bedrooms:

Bedrooms:

Bedroom 1 super-king size bed (can be made into a twin bedded room if requested when booking).

Bedroom 2 double bed.

Beds in both bedrooms stylishly dressed. Each has wardrobe, bedside tables, lamps, chest of drawers, chair and mirrors. Hairdryer bedroom 1.

Bathroom:

High spec bathroom - corner wc, wash basin, large mirror, monsoon shower over P-shaped bath (glass shower screen), oak corner cupboard, large heated towel rail, tiled floor with electric underfloor heating and timer.

Kitchen:

The well equipped kitchen has everything you need: oven, ceramic hob, cooker hood, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, stainless steel sink, plenty of cupboard space, crockery, cooking and other utensils and steam iron.

Outside:

The garden is a truly delightful place to sit when the rhododendrons are in bloom. There are flower beds and a lawn in the front garden. Roses grow up the trellis on the front wall of the property. There are flower beds to the side of the house and at the rear.

The paths and parking area are made with blue-grey slate chippings from the local quarry at Elterwater.

There are chairs, a table and umbrella on the rear patio. A pleasant place to sit and eat in the sun on fine days in spring and summer.

And nearby the beck flows cheerfully past - a great sound to wake up to each day!

Wooden hut to the rear of the property (can be used to store bicycles securely). Also used for storing walking boots and wet outdoor clothing.

Clothes may be dried outside on the rotary clothesline or on a rack in the bathroom.

Cleaning/Towels/Linen:

Price includes hotel quality linen for each bed, similar quality hand and bath towel for each guest and a tea towel and oven gloves for the kitchen. Property is cleaned and fresh linen etc is provided on each changeover.

Please note that our normal changeover date is Friday. We accept bookings for short breaks in low season and at other times of the year for last minute bookings for unsold weeks (but not if they straddle our Friday changeover day).

My aunt Olive Wilkinson (age 95) owns the cottage but we (John and Christine Comber) organised its renovation and manage the lettings for her. We are retired and split our time between England and Spain.

When we are in the Lake District we enjoy walking, eating out and the excellent beer.The property has been in the family for more than 50 years. We have had many a happy holiday there. Now it's your turn!

The cottage is so comfortable and ideally situated for exploring the Lake District National Park. What a vibrant and exciting place it is nowadays! There is so much to do. Check out the Go-Lakes website and see for yourself.

What makes this bungalow unique

The property was renovated throughout in 2013 - new bathroom and kitchen, rewiring, re-plumbing, interior and exterior redecorated, new gas central heating, underfloor heating in bathroom, carpets, beds, linen, 2 and 3 seat leather sofas, LED TV, blu-ray DVD player and WiFi, all new and more besides. The garden and outside areas were also given a face-lift. It is in excellent condition. We were delighted when Visit England gave it a second Gold Award this year in recognition of its exceptional quality. The property has a tranquil, light and airy feel to it. And its location is a special selling feature given how close it is to the bustling Bowness - such a good base for holidaying in the Lakes.

Have just returned from a short break in this lovely bungalow which is an ideal location for visiting Bowness, Windermere and the surrounding area.

Found it well equipped, very clean and really comfortable. The owner is friendly and helpful and provided comprehensive details covering the facilities along with local information which made the whole process very easy.

Would recommend a stay here and definitely intend returning

A perfect base for exploring the Lakes

We stayed here for an anniversary weekend and had a fantastic stay. The cottage was lovely and perfectly situated - easy walking distance to Bowness and on a quiet road.

The house had everything we could have needed and was very comfortable.

Contact with the owner was easy and efficient; information provided was comprehensive and helpful.

We spent time walking and exploring as well as relaxing in the cottage. Fantastic! Thanks to John for making it a great weekend.

Immaculate , great location x

The cottage was lovely , everything you need for a comfortable stay, beds that you didn't want to get out of , lovely bathroom with a shower over the bath , everything you need in the kitchen , lovely back patio with table & chairs which we used Quite a bit to relax with a drink , its location is ideal for walking into bowness , would recommend to anyone , loved it , very clean , will be back xx

Lovely well located holiday cottage

We had a lovely weekend in this very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. Very well located and only a short distance to Bowness town centre. The owner is very helpful and accommodating and we would thoroughly recommend this property for a trip to the Lakes.

Immaculate cottage in idyllic location

Ryebank Cottage was the perfect place for an escape to the country, nestled in a quiet neighborhood, a stones throw away from Bowness. Everything is modern and well looked after yet the property still maintains the charm that you expect when staying in a cottage.

John (the owner) takes a lot of pride in the property and has a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area, He went above and beyond to ensure that we get the most out of our time in the Lake District.

The only thing I regret, is that we didn't have more time to explore. I hope to return one day soon and will definitely recommend the property to friends and family visiting the area.

Absolutely delightful

The cottage is located on a hillside in Bowness-on-Windermere with a beautiful view of the surrounding hillsides from the front window and a delightful little stream running through the back garden. The cottage itself is obviously lovingly kept. The kitchen is well appointed with absolutely everything one would need to cook up a feast. The sitting /dining room is large and comfortable. The bathroom/shower room is of hotel standard with under-floor heating and a rainfall showerhead (exactly what you need after a long day walking around the lakes). Also, the beds are so cozy and comfortable, one just doesn't want to get out of bed in the morning. Overall, the whole house is warm and absolutely spotless and for tech savvy individuals, the wifi is very fast. I have stayed in several cottages all over the lake district and I genuinely have to say that this was head and shoulders above the rest. Finally, the owner John is a delight to converse with and made the whole exchange an absolute treat. Can't wait to come back!

There are great places in the area to eat out at lunchtime or in the evening. We like Miller Howe and Villa Positano which are close to the property. We also like (further away but still within easy reach) the Langdale Chase, Zeferellis, the Drunken Duck Inn, the Punch Bowl, the Britannia Inn, Starlys, Wilfs, the Hawkshead Brewery, Chesters, Farrers tea and coffee shop and so on...

The Lakes is also a great place for all sorts of other activities - the Guardian and Telegraph have useful travel guides and the Lake District National Park and the GoLakes websites contain a wealth of information to help you plan your holiday in the Lakes. Strictly no smoking, no candles, no pets.
Email with phone number to make enquiry. Non-refundable deposit of 25% required within 7 days to secure booking. Balance due 8 weeks prior to start of holiday (along with a refundable security deposit of £150). Payments should be made by internet banking transfers or transfers from your own bank (they don't charge for this). Holidays booked less than 8 weeks in advance should be paid in full on booking (along with the £150 refundable security deposit).

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday.
Arrival must be after 4pm at the start of your holiday (there is a key safe so late arrivals are no problem).
Departure must be strictly before 10am at the end of your stay.

Notes on prices:

Prices for other short breaks are individually negotiated. Short breaks will normally only be accepted where they are outside school holidays and begin on or after a Friday and end on or before the following Friday.
