Stay - you'll love it!
Warm welcome from Jane started things off well. Miles Around Cottage is lovely and very comfortable. We walked every day - sometimes from the front door of the cottage. Cromford, Wirksworth, Matlock Bath, Tansley ( lovely pubs), are all within easy reach. The peace an quiet yet easy access to Matlock make this a great base. Biscuits and a bottle of wine on arrival were a nice touch. Thank you - we had a great stay.
Lovely view, friendly hosts, great weather.
Beautiful peaceful location high above Matlock. Jane was warm and welcoming and arranged for us to access the cottage even if she was not there when we arrived. The views are simply stunning and there are several lovely walks literally starting outside the cottage. The cottage itself is comfortable and well provisioned with plenty of space for two people.
Lovely cottage with stunning views
Fantastic time, lots to do and see in the local area, nice country walks or trips to near by villages, Matlock Bakewell and Buxton, plenty of pubs with good food to choose from, even a vintage car ride to be had not 10 min drive away, and a cosy cottage to come back to at the end of the day, thoroughly enjoyed our stay,
Lovely cottage very welcoming host. Magnificent views and plenty to do.

About the Area.
Once famed for its hydros and spa treatments, Matlock is now a bustling town surrounded by the spectacular countryside of the Derbyshire Dales. Overlooked by the imposing Smedleys Hydro (now the offices of Derbyshire County Council) and Riber Castle, the town owes much its status to John Smedley who built both these grand edifices, plus several more. The River Derwent and the A6 road both run through the middle of the town, which centres on Crown Square. Matlock boasts an award-winning park - Hall Leys Park, complete with boating lake, riverside paths, tennis courts and skateboard park. It is the first of five beautifully restored public parks stretching along the River Derwent to Matlock Bath. The hillsides around afford some superb viewpoints and superb countryside is literally on the doorstep. With a good range of shops and restaurants plus excellent bus and rail links (on the Derwent Valley train line from Derby) this is an ideal base for exploring the area. Peak Rail runs heritage steam and diesel trains from Matlock station and there is a superb new Leisure Centre on the edge of the town. Don't miss the magical Matlock Bath Illuminations which take place a little further along the river at weekends during September and October.
