Self-catering, child, pet and dog friendly seaside holiday apartment at The Bay Filey (award-winning purpose-built holiday village) on the Yorkshire coast, with private access to miles of sandy beach.

PLEASE NOTE: our changeover days over the summer are Mondays and Fridays (4-night midweek booking, 3-night weekend booking, 7-night week starting either Monday or Friday) but if you require Saturday to Saturday, please contact us to see if that would be possible for your particular dates. During winter months, more flexibility is possible.

Perfect for summer holidays, weekend, mid-week and half term breaks, winter escapes or Christmas, New Year and Easter celebrations. The Bay Filey boasts superb onsite facilities, including: indoor swimming pool with child's pool, sauna and steam room (all included in your booking); fitness centre; beauty salon; pharmacy; coffee shop; the John Paul Jones pub serving excellent food; take-away pizza from the Café Italia; and children's play area.

This ground floor apartment offers excellent possibilities for relaxation and ideally suit couples, young families or singles - dogs also welcome! There are lots of opportunities in the immediate vicinity for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, such as walking, cycling, dog walking, fishing or the simple pleasures of garden, patio and outdoor eating.

Pets welcome (max 2 please) - charge £30.00.

In addition to the eating opportunities on-site, there are numerous pubs, restaurants, fish and chip restaurants, cafés and tea shops in the surrounding villages and towns. Most locally, these include: Hunmanby, Scarborough, Bridlington - and Filey, of course! A little further afield are the historic city of York and the gorgeous seaside town of Whitby. Needless to say, the North York Moors are less than an hour away.

Peter and Gwyn invite you to share in our Yorkshire haven, where we love to chill from the frantic workaday life. We hope you will enjoy the comfort of our holiday home and enjoy the superb facilities that the Bay, Filey affords.

A little about us -

With four sons and four grandchildren, all living in Yorkshire, we love Yorkshire with its many changing landscapes but we particularly love the seaside; Peter having lived on the beach as a child and Gwyn having holidayed at the coast every summer during childhood. The apartment gave us a chance to indulge the pleasures of childhood with our grandchildren in the county where they live.

We've had wonderful family times, enjoying beach, Easter egg hunts & swimming in the pool and our sons can bring their families here.

We had a really pleasant short stay at the Seafarer's Retreat in early March (2014). The accommodation was excellent, very clean and modern and comfortable with everything one needs for a relaxing few days away. The Bay itself is attractively set out and is just a few minutes walk down to the beach where we walked right into Filey itself with it's shops and various amenities.



We mostly ate at the Pub across the road where the food was delicious, the atmosphere charming and the service very friendly and welcoming. Although it was still early in the year there was a steady flow of customers and a nice buzz in the air. The sun even came out and back at the apartment we enjoyed sitting out on the patio catching it's rays. There were plenty of places to visit and Scarborough gave us a lovely day of warmth and sunshine where it seemed everyone came out to play and welcome spring and enjoy the sea and the sand.



Altogether a thoroughly good few days away!

Great wee apartment

Perfect property for our stay - beautifully clean and ideally equipped. We particularly loved the position of the apartment - central to other amenities but no noise! Loved the pool, the pub and the walk to the beach. I really recommend the walk along the beach to Filey - it's beautiful. We had days out in Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and York. Special mention for Eden Camp - amazing museum.

Minor, minor quibble was no loo paper - at all - so remember to bring some!

Fantastic holiday apartment

Just had a great stay here with my husband, 2 year old daughter and our dog. The apartment is in a great location close to the pharmacy and pub! The apartment is spacious and welcoming, beautifully furnished and everything you need provided. We went for lovely walks on an evening towards the beach allowing both our little girl and dog to have a run around. Would definitely love to stay here again

Relaxing weekend retreat

Very spacious great location

Our first impressions where lovely clean and spacious apartment. Great location and very peacful. A couple of things i would like to mention is that it would have been 5 stars if there would of been at least 1 cloth or sponge in the kitchen, maybe just half a toilet roll in the bathroom and also the oven really needs steam cleaning. Also we didnt take an iron as it stated that one was supplied with an ironing board which it was but it didnt work. We phoned up Simplicity housing (agents looking after the property) and was told the iron isnt on the inventry so they cannot help up. Bit of a let down and inconvient because my partner then had to drive to Tesco and buy one. Also we asked if we could have a later check out only an extra hour and was told NO the cleaners will be there at 10am. Other than that overall we loved it and would recommend to friends and family but would like to advise the owners that they should maybe speak to the agents that clean/maintain as it would be a shame if the finner touches put people off.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate all feedback and communications from our guests. In response to these particular comments: - Thank you for your praise of the cleanliness of the apartment. We are proud to have found a cleaning company in Simplicity Services that is consistently capable of cleaning to an exceptionally high standard with very rare and far-between issues of any sort. - Making washing up materials (and even toilet rolls) available has been an ongoing challenge to us and one to which we have not yet found a really adequate solution. In almost every instance a toilet roll is available to new guests but, just occasionally, this does not happen. - Less than satisfactory oven cleanliness noted. This comment has been referred to the cleaners. - An iron is provided in the apartment. Sadly these appliances do not last forever and we are reliant on guests to let us know if an appliance has met its maker. If they do not, we are unable to take action to replace it. Sadly, this guest did not notify us - had they done so, we could have arranged to pay them for the iron they purchased and the issue would have been resolved. - Our apartment is not the only property the cleaners have to turn around within the day for new guests. It is generally not possible to offer a late checkout because it would mean that either our apartment or another property would not be ready for new guests arriving later in the day. We value our guests and always endeavour to rectify any issue immediately it arises to ensure that they enjoy their break and benefit fully from it.

Beautiful escape and space to relax

My husband, myself, our little boy and dog spent 3 nights in the beautiful Beachcombers Retreat. The apartment was spotless, the bedding and towels squeaky clean and everything we needed was there. The apartment is in a fantastic location, the beach is easily accessed and there is plenty of beautiful walks, which is great if you take a dog. The John Paul Jones pub serves a good variety of meals, which was amazing and reasonably priced. I really can not fault anything, a fabulous apartment in tranquil and beautiful surroundings. A perfect get away to de-stress. We definitely plan on going back.

Perfectly placed in The Bay

This apartment could not be more perfectly placed! Close to the pool, the pub and the beach access... Warm, surprisingly spacious, clean and well kitted out.

We will most definitely be back here again. Lovely communications with the owners too... Overall a great experience booking through Owners Direct too...cannot fault anything about it!

Special interest holidays:

The Bay Filey is very popular with walkers and dog owners, with miles of sandy beach only a few minutes walk away and a dog walking area by lakes onsite.

The town of Filey can be reached on foot within about half an hour - great for a leisurely walk into the town for Fish & Chips or afternoon tea, returning by foot or by bus!

Coast/Beach:

Filey Beach, with miles of sand, is a 10 minute walk away along private access road. The village of Filey, with its fish and chip restaurants, tea shops and traditional atmosphere is approximately 30 minutes easy walk along the beach.

Travel:

Three miles south of Filey on the Yorkshire coast, a car is useful at Seafarer's Retreat in order to make the most of the wealth of attraction in the area.

Accessibility by road is good:

York - 42 miles (1hr);

Leeds - 68 miles (1hr 30);

Durham - 99 miles (2hrs 15);

Teesside - 78 miles (1hr 50);

Sheffield - 90 miles (2hrs).

Trains are also convenient, with stations at:

Hunmanby - 2.2 miles;

Filey - 3 miles;

Bridlington - 8.5 miles;

Seamer - 8.5 miles.

A good bus service runs between Scarborough and Bridlington, stopping very close to the entrance to The Bay.

Opposite the apartment is Café Italia, a brasserie and coffee bar offering an excellent choice of snacks. All food is made fresh to order, with a large selection of hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas, paninis and salads. Tea and freshly ground coffee is available or if you prefer something stronger it is fully licensed. Eat inside or out or make use of the fantastic delivery service available to your door! The choice is yours.

Also close by is the John Paul Jones pub where you can enjoy a nice chilled glass of wine or try out the fine beers and ales you'll find on offer. The atmosphere is a welcoming, family & pet friendly pub built with tradition in mind but offering free WiFi internet for those needing to be connected. Freshly prepared seasonal food is served every day and the Sunday roast is one of the best on the coast. What's more, it is only across the road from our apartments!
