Lovely little garden cottage.
We loved staying at the garden cottage it was tastefully present inside and out. It was private, quiet and peaceful, good place to chill out. Devon was lovely too with great walks.
We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again in Devon.
A peaceful stay
Hi Ginny, Our stay was comfortable and nice and peaceful. One or two things in the bathroom (the heater, extract and shaving light) didn't work but it didn't detract from our stay. The weather was another matter (nothing could be done about that). We got out and about and enjoyed our stay. Our plan was to carry on down to our holiday home in Cornwall after our stay. We did however depart on Saturday as the forecast was pretty bleak (no reflecion on you). We did inform your daughter before we left and she was OK with that. I think we inadvertently left some clothing behind (2 pairs of shorts, and some other items). If we did I will be happy to reimburse you for any expenses incurred (and a little more for the inconvenience)
Best regards, John & Doreen Harris. Our address - 45 Witan Way, Wantage, Oxford OX12 9HB. Phone 01235 764288
Sorry about the heater in the bathroom. The extractor fan was just turned off at the main switch in the kitchen. No clothes were left behind though, we've had a thorough look.
Cracking cottage but overpriced and missed even the most basic essentials like soap, tea bags, S&P
Setting was lovely. Internet connection worked very well. If it was cheaper and come with normal basics, it would been a better buy.
Thank you Thomas, we will certainly consider your comments.
Not a cold and wet weather property
We had a wet and windy week, throughout the whole period the windows were covered in condensation, water was blown under the front door and this encouraged visitations from slugs. We were not impressed to find slugs on towels hanging on the towel rail.
Dear Michael, I am so sorry to hear this. We are replacing the windows and door this spring to prevent this happening again. With best wishes Ginny
Small studio type, cottage, clean and cosy. Great view, very nice garden.
Clean little cottage, great view and nice space to sit outside. Great beaches and walks not too far away. Appliances, heating, shower all in perfect working order. We were surprised there was no bedroom as mentioned on the HomeAway website: Comfortable bed, small dining table, 2 chairs, a fauteuil, a sofa and the only cupboard all in one room. More like a studio albeit with a separate small, well equipped kitchen. The big house was rented out but that was no problem. Small parking space for two cars, difficult not to block the bridle path as asked. We didn't see the owner, she sent us a few mails with info. A nice place from which to explore and enjoy beautiful North Devon.
Lovely quiet location. Small but well equipped accommodation.
A lovely isolated location. The accommodation was cosy and well equipped. Would definitely go again.
It's well worth putting out food on the bird table to see the host of wildlife from around the area.
The fabulous sandy surfing beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde are a 30-40 minute drive away. Nearer to home are the beaches around Combe Martin, just 10 minutes by car. The South West Coast Path passes nearby, a 5 minutes drive away with walks along the dramatic cliffs on the North Devon coast. Lynton and Lynmouth with the cliff railway are 20 minutes drive and the pretty seaside villages of Appledore and Clovelly are within easy reach.
The use of a car is essential as the area is rural and public transport is negligible. Exeter airport is 50 miles and Bristol about 100 miles from here. The property is about 30 miles from the M5 motorway and takes approximately 50 minutes.
The nearest shop is within walking distance but Combe Martin the nearest village is a 5 minute drive. Barnstaple, a historic market town with a pannier market and thriving high street is 10 miles away. Ilfracombe, with it's attractive harbour and spectacular 'Verity' a Damien Hirst sculpture, is also 10 miles away.
The property is set just within Exmoor National Park.
Several National Trust properties are nearby. Arlington Court has beautiful gardens, parkland, lakes and wooded hills for wandering through or striding across.
