About Jill

We love the Lake District and Keswick in particular. The stunning beauty of the area is very very special. We have visited many places in the world but the Lake District is somewhere we have wanted to return to time and time again. The scenery is stunning, we have enjoyed exploring various walks and have progressed in difficulty in our walks starting with Latrigg, then Walla Crag and then last weekend we walked up Catbells. The views were breathtaking and we had a fantastic day despite falling in a puddle on the way down! We bought this house in December 2013 and spent the next 3 months refurbishing it. We are really pleased with the result and so are the guests who have visited the house to date. We hope that you will visit and enjoy both the house and the area as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

The house is in a very central part of Keswick. a few minutes walk to the Town Centre, Lake and local parks.

The outdoor area has an eating area with lovely views of Latrigg.

The house has exceptional parking facilities enough fro 2\3 cars or a car and a boat. It is therefore ideal to use this house as a base to explore the surrounding area without worrying about a parking space on your return.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed the week we spent here at New Year. The house was lovely and we were able to visit many local places without worrying about parking on our return. New Years Eve in Keswick was BRILLIANT. We will definitely be back.

We visited this house with another couple for a short break. We had a lovely time. The house was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed both nights in relaxing and visits to local pubs and restaurants. We were spoilt for choice! We will be returning and recommending this house to our friends.

We regularly visit Keswick to enjoy the lovely walks. The house was perfect for us. We could park our groups two cars right outside, with room to spare! Everything is a short stroll away and the house is equipped and furnished to a high standard. We intend to make this house our regular choice.

Very Clean and Tidy

  • 5 of 5

First time in Keswick, we are a family of four so we booked this cottage and were very impressed. It is very clean and tidy.

You pick the keys up from an estate agent around the corner, we got there at 3.15 and it was all ready as check in time is 4pm.

Parking to the rear of the property is off road and enough room for 2-3 vehicles.

Plenty of utensils in the kitchen, heating very easy to use. Take your own towels and hair dryer if required, we also took a bath mat even though one was provided.

The cottage soon heated up and the Wifi worked fine.

Plenty of restaurants in Keswick and we thoroughly enjoyed the Cat Bells walk and the sail around Derwent Water.

I would recommend this cottage and found the communications with the owner 'Jill' very good.

A little gem...

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage with parking - yeah! We had a lovely weekend, everything you could possibly need was there. Lots of lovely walks, and a bonus of the market.

Would recommend this little gem in the centre of Keswick and I will definitely book again.

Thanks Jill xx

Owner's Response: Very pleased that this guest enjoyed their stay at our lovely house which is very popular and receives excellent reviews. We have a yearly programme of updating the house. The kitchen, including all the appliances are just over two years old. The bathroom was refurbished just over two years ago too. In January of this year the whole of the inside of the house was painted and new flooring installed in the lounge and hall. Before Christmas the furnishings in the lounge will be updated. We have made a conscious decision to keep the gas fire in the lounge which, some may say is dated, but it is the most powerful gas fire we have ever seen and makes the room very cosy in minutes so we won’t be replacing it!! Many guests comment on how lovely it is to get back from a long day walking in Winter and sit beside the fire and feel snug in seconds!! We are delighted at all the very positive comments received from and are always trying to improve our house for our guests.

Central location for Keswick with off-road parking

  • 3 of 5

Positive:

Clean, nice firm beds.

Small for four adults but adequate. Appreciated dish washer and shower worked fine.

Negative:

First night got soaked, could not work central heating to dry out.

Very noisy bathroom floor!

Why was rubbish outside front door? (old carpet)

Small garden overgrown with weeds. First impression on arrival not good.

Owner's Response: I am very surprised that the guests could not work the central heating. All they needed to do was turn the thermostat up!!!! I always give my mobile phone number so that if guests have questions they can reach me very quickly!! A quick phone call would have sorted this out! I did not receive one direct communication from this guest. It is always nice to exchange messages and get to know each other. I have never heard any comments about any noise from the bathroom floor! We have stayed in this house endless times both on our own and with friends and have never had any problem re space for four people or with noise from the floor!! There is a bin shed outside the back door and someone had put small piece of carpet in it! It was removed two weeks ago when we discovered it. With all the sun and rain the very small flower bed can get weeds in it. This is a very popular house and people come back time and time again and most give very very positive feedback. We do our best to make this a great place for guests to stay and for most people it certainly is!
