Marigold is a detached stone cottage full of character which is situated on a large country estate converted from an old cider farm. There is a selection of great sandy beaches all approx. 15-20minutes away, (eg Bantham, Mill Bay (Salcombe), Thurlston). Slapton Sands (a scenic pebble beach) can be reached within 10mins by car.
The property is beautifully presented throughout with its own private walled garden. In the lounge space there is a wood-burning stove - particularly cosy in the cooler evenings - sofas and an armchair, flat screen TV, DVD player and WiFi. Outside there is a private garden perfect for a BBQ, game of boules or a gin and tonic.
In bedroom 1 there is a super king sized bed (6ft) and bedroom 3 has a king sized bed (5ft)
The magnificent South Hams coastline with its rugged headlands and superb beaches is only a short distance away.
Sailing and water sports are found in the harbour towns of Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth and there are 18 hole golf courses at the coastal villages of Thurlestone and Bigbury, flanking the mouth of the River Avon and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club near the Naval town of Dartmouth.
Stancombe is situated in a rural setting about 2 miles from Frogmore where there is a shop, bakery, post office, public house and a creek with access to the Salcombe estuary.
The town of Kingsbridge is about 4 miles with an extensive range of recreational and shopping.
Beaches, crabbing, rockpooling, sailing, horse riding, kite flying, canoing etc can be found within easy reach.
We have 3 small children and live in Oxfordshire and have been coming down to South Devon for many years. We fell in love with Marigold Cottage and it is a perfect place to relax
Louise Salmon purchased this cottage in 2014
It has the swimming pool, play room, tennis court and other facilities that suit our family if it is raining or sunshine, as well as the private enclosed garden. The beaches and pubs are only a short drive away. Marigold has created a lot of happiness and laughter for us. Sometimes things may not work but please let us know.
Just full of happiness and special to us.
Lovely property for a holiday with 2 boys 5 and 3 and two sets of grandparents. Very well equipped, toys, books, DVDs, great shower, and private garden. Did not feel cramped. Facilities on site excellent, tennis court, swimming pool (quite deep but ok if you stay at shallow end) and games room with pool table, table tennis and table football. Snooker room for grown ups. Location remote but a good base from which to explore all south Devon coastal villages. No mobile signal (very much like the rest of South Devon!) but good wifi. Would recommend.
A beautiful, well-equipped cottage in the heart of the South Devon countryside. Numerous places of interest and stunning beaches within 45 minutes drive, often less.
The cottage itself was clean and well maintained, with a beautiful enclosed garden. There is a fenced pond with a resident duck to feed, and the tennis court and swimming pool were an added bonus. Just to note the pool is quite deep, and even at the shallow end my four year old couldn't touch the bottom. However, this wasn't a problem with arm bands and it was warm and clean with a hot shower and toilets/changing rooms available inside. We loved our stay at Marigold Cottage and would definitely recommend it to friends. We travelled with two children aged four and two.
We are a three-generation family of five adults and two children and we all had a splendid time here. Marigold is comfortable and well-equipped, all the information we needed was supplied and the owner, Louise, was extremely helpful. We had ample space for all of us and appreciated having three bathrooms and easy parking too. The on-site sports facilities, particularly the tennis and the excellent swimming pool, were a great addition to all the lovely things in Devon. We enjoyed excursions to beaches, spectacular coastal path walks, tors in Dartmoor, crabbing in Kingsbridge, and a great family supper at the Fortescue Arms in East Allington. We also had a superb guided tour at the Start Point Lighthouse - fantastic views and great for kids.
A superbly equipped cottage in an idyllic and peaceful location. Everything we wanted from a relaxing break. It is perfectly located between Dartmouth and Salcombe, with an almost never ending supply of great local pubs which are full of character and able to provide good food and beer !
We had a great time and fully recharged the batteries.
Many thanks, just what we wanted !
Marigold is a beautiful cottage nestled away in the Devon countryside. It proved to be perfect for a Christmas getaway. The complex provides great facilities so there is always something to do regardless of the weather, and more often than not we were the only ones in the pool. Only 10 mins from the coast so lots to explore too. All in all a great place to holiday any time of year!
This is a delightful cottage, offering accommodation and comfort far in excess of the norm. It is very handy for access to the beautiful South Devon countryside between Dartmouth and Salcombe and is in easy reach of many sandy beaches along the coast. Couples children and families will find it ideal for a truly relaxing break in comfortable surroundings. We certainly had a great time.
There are many beaches such as Bantham, Mill Bay, Thurlston and Beesands all within a short drive away
Frogmore with pub, bakery and post office is 2miles away. Kingsbridge is 4 miles away.
