Wonderful holiday at Marigold Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Marigold Cottage for a week in June 2017 with 5 other adults. The cottage was spacious, well equipped and clean. The beds were lovely and the garden private and sun drenched with pretty shrubs. The whole complex of Stancombe Manor was amazing with a warm and well maintained indoor pool, great tennis court and snooker table plus table tennis, table football and pool. We made full use of these facilities morning and evening and I walked my dog each morning along the footpath to Sherford village with its lovely old church. The location of Stancombe Manor means it is very peaceful but accessible to the rest of South Devon and beyond. I would thoroughly recommend Marigold Cottage to others and was sorry to leave after a wonderful holiday.

Marigold Cottage: wonderful surprise, very comfortable, peaceful, pastoral delight and good location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was in the first week of July during glorious warm weather. We had daily trips to the shore and seaside towns. The selection of local cuisine was always delicious served by skilled and entertaining local staff in interesting pubs and other venues. Our favourite was the Globe Inn. We had no difficulty in finding groceries close by. Marigold cottage was a wonderful surprise. The stone exterior was hiding an interior of warm wood and gently soothing decor. The cottage (house) was very comfortable with all the luxuries we could have possibly needed. The kitchen was very well appointed with small appliances, utensils, dishes - a surprise. We loved the open plan of the main floor which encouraged us to prepare our meals together, linger long after meals chatting at the table. TV with choices was a bonus. We all had nights of comfortable refreshing sleep in the great beds. We enjoyed the walled garden every day chatting, sipping and watching birds and flowers. The grounds were welcoming for short walks. one of our party found your pool a gift as she is a life guard at 75 years. By the end of our stay, the back seat passengers almost recognized the route to and from the Marigold.

Thank you for your gracious handling of our misinterpretation of the discharge date. We had a wonderful experience for a week at Marigold Cottage and would not hesitate to come again or recommend to our friends and family.

As you know, we live in Canada but we were born in England. Marigold was better than my imagination of a country cottage. We have a "cottage" in Muskoka, Ontario. It is actually a cabin which over 50 years has evolved from rustic bare essentials to electricity, amenities

and even TV and a luxury a screened porch. You can see why we found Marigold to be such a delightful contrast. Thank you again Louise.

Home from home hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here at Easter with another family. Best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in.

The garden is very private. The gate does open onto a road but only saw a couple of cars. Fabulous facilities for the kids. Even a couple of holes of golf!

2 lovely sized beds with unsuit upstairs. The little bunk room downstairs was small so we popped all the kids in other downstairs bedroom and they loved it.

Great spot to explore Devon. Highly recommend. Louise is very helpful and sends lots of useful information once you book.

A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage, very well equipped and access to great extras such as tennis court, pool and games room. The grounds are beautifully kept and provide a haven, away from it all. We would have happily stayed put there but it is also close to great places to visit. The owner was very helpful and communicated well.

Lovely property for family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property for a holiday with 2 boys 5 and 3 and two sets of grandparents. Very well equipped, toys, books, DVDs, great shower, and private garden. Did not feel cramped. Facilities on site excellent, tennis court, swimming pool (quite deep but ok if you stay at shallow end) and games room with pool table, table tennis and table football. Snooker room for grown ups. Location remote but a good base from which to explore all south Devon coastal villages. No mobile signal (very much like the rest of South Devon!) but good wifi. Would recommend.
