About Sarah Roach Contact me for the rates

When we purchased our current property the White Coach House was in the grounds. As it is such a lovely property we decided that we should let it out as a holiday cottage it would be a shame to let it stand empty. We are currently doing up our property which is located next door to the holiday cottage. Visitors seem to be very pleased that we live next door as we are around when needed.

Why Sarah Roach Contact me for the rates chose Malvern Hills District

Herefordshire is a wonderful place to live and work.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful, spacious cottage, wonderful location ... but avoid if scared of dog

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights in April 17, 2 adults & 2 kids

Booking was easy. Sarah responded quickly & efficiently to emails

On arrival there was a delicious, homemade cake for us & a bright bunch of daffodils.

The house was everything we hoped; clean, spacious & comfortable. Plenty of original features, like high beams, brick archways, with a cosy feel. It also felt modern, as all mod-cons were provided, such as speedy wi-fi, dishwasher, etc. It is stylish and well furnished. The beds & living room were comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped

The weather was warm so we were able to enjoy the beautiful garden, which was fully enclosed and entirely private.

The location was perfect. The beautiful city of Hereford is only a 10 min drive away, with it's awe-inspiring cathedral, medieval city streets, and a wonderful choice of restaurants. Within 30 mins we were in Wales & the breathtaking Brecon Beacons.

The cottage & location were faultless, but there was one major problem for us, which was the two dalmatians which live with the owner. I & one of my girls are scared of dogs, but it's never been a handicap. When we visit places that may have dogs, we can avoid them easily enough, or it the dogs are calm, we can be brave & walk past. If we visit friends or family with dogs, they shut the dogs away so that we can relax (as we do with our cats when friends that are afraid of cats visit us).

It was impossible to avoid the dogs here, & they weren't calm. Each time we arrived back, as soon as we opened the gates to the driveway, the dogs appeared, running at us at full speed, barking & jumping up. My husband grew up with dogs, but was taken off-guard by the determination they circled him with. He was trying to close the gate, as requested, & trying to keep the dogs away from the car. It terrified my daughter & me. Once it took 2-3 mins for Sarah arrive to call them off; we had begun to worry that nobody was home.

I appreciate that this is a personal to us, & that many would not be put off & may see it as a bonus. However, despite telling Sarah when we arrived that 2 of us were scared of dogs, the scenario repeated each day. It was intimidating, stressful, upsetting, & we felt unwelcome

For that reason, we would not stay again, had I known about the dogs; I wouldn't have booked

Having said that his cottage is absolutely stunning & I've tried to be fair. I would have no hesitation in recommending it, so long as you are not scared of or dislike dogs.

Excellent Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

The house was very warm and comfortable, it had everything we needed. Sarah had baked a lovely cake and a tray of teas was set out. Sarah was there if needed but was not intrusive. The surrounding countryside was beautiful with all the Autumn colours. Would definitely recommend, great place for all ages.

Mid week short stay

  • 5 of 5

We had just a two night stay but we were able to relax as soon as we got in to the cottage. Sarah had left us a fire ready to be lit and a tray of tea, coffee and homemade cakes. The children loved their bunk beds and our rooms were a great size with wonderful beams in the ceilings. Everything we needed was to hand and Sarah called in to greet us on our visit evening. The cottage is in a great location and we enjoyed our visit to Hereford. Would recommend the cottage as a place to stay.

Postal address is Colchester, Essex but I live just over the Suffolk border.

Lovely private and comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We found the cottage to be very comfortable and clean. To be greeted by flowers and a gorgeous home-made cake was delightful.

Sarah, the owner, was very friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. We were also paid a brief pleasant visit by Alfie and Maisie, the dalmatians.

Even though we took a topper for the bed, the kingsize bed had a good memory foam mattress, together with a topper already, so we were very comfortable. The feather duvet was lovely although we swapped it for the summerweight duvet on the other bed halfway through our holiday as the weather suddenly turned very hot. Having said that, the thick walls of the cottage kept it pleasantly cool.

Although we were out many days as there are lots of places to visit nearby (we recommend Hampton Court Castle, Hay On Wye, Leominster and Ledbury especially) we also spent a few days relaxing at the cottage and took advantage of garden chairs kept in the garden shed. The walled garden was as private as you can get.

The gated drive was nice. If we had been in our classic car the extra security would have been very welcome.

The Bartestree village shop was handy and very friendly. The Gallery opposite the shop was also well worth a visit.
