East Trenean Farm, Widegates, near Looe, Cornwall - Luxury accommodation in peaceful and secluded setting amid rolling hills and just 3 miles from Looe
Three of the 18th century, grade II listed barns here at East Trenean Farm were converted in 2010 to the highest standards. The one bedroomed Linhay was converted in 2015. They all offer comfortable accommodation with a modern 5 star interior.

The three larger barns have a "reverse level" layout with vaulted living rooms (Water Mill and Threshing Barn), wood burning stoves, modern well equipped kitchens, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms.
The Linhay is a single story building but has a few steps between the rooms. The lounge has a fireplace with electric fire.
All bedrooms have zip-link beds which can be used as 2 singles or a king size double (just let us know your preference when booking).
Each of the three barns has it's own private garden, a small south facing patio area overlooking the courtyard behind the farm house and access to the farm's 10 acres of gardens and pasture.
The newly converted Linhay has an enclosed patio/bbq area next to the courtyard and stunning views from the lounge and bedroom over the gardens and down the valley.
Whilst here, why not de-stress with a soak in our 8 person hot tub, situated in the grounds of the farmhouse with views across rolling countryside and a distant glimpse of the sea.
We do not accept bookings for "party weekends" - such as Hen and Stag parties - in any of the barns. We are more than happy to accept family groups celebrating birthdays, anniversaries etc.

About Ian Farr
Brenda and I moved to East Trenean Farm in February 2014. We met each other over 30 years ago when studying at Plymouth Polytechnic and fell in love with the area. Now, having spent too long as city dwellers, we have returned to the West Country to run East Trenean Farm. We live in the main farm house and let the three 18th century, grade II listed stone barns and the recently converted Linhay. Each barn has it's own private garden, but also access to the farm's 10 acres of grounds. The Farm's previous owners converted the three larger barns and we have converted the one remaining derelict barn into a comfortable one bedroom cottage - The Linhay. This newly converted barn has stunning views from the lounge and bedroom over the gardens and down the valley. Please take a look at our web-site for details. We love this part of the country because of the great coastal paths and the proximity to wonderful sailing grounds along the south coast of Devon and Cornwall. The barns have been converted in recent years and therefore benefit from the latest standards in terms of insulation, wiring and plumbing ! They are not draughty or damp. They have been decorated with a clean modern look, whilst retaining much of the character of the original some buildings. The views to the south are wonderful and we have a distant glimpse of the sea.
What makes this Barn unique
It is wonderfully peaceful at East Trenean Farm, close to the coast, but not in the hustle and bustle of town. The accommodation has been decorated and equipped to a luxurious standard, with natural stone walls, oak floors, original beams exposed and comfortable beds and sofas. Our water is from our own bore-hole, so lovely soft spring water on tap. Free range eggs available from our hens (subject to their ongoing co-operation). WiFi in each barn, so stay in touch while away from it all (if you have to). Log burning stoves in each barn other than the Linhay. All have central heating. Relax in our 8 person hot tub with views over the farm and down the valley to the sea. Entertain the children on the swings or the trampoline.

An exceptional stay
Had an absolutely wonderful time at The watermill. Stayed with husband, baby, 2 year old and niece. The cottage was equipped with everything you could possibly need- truley a home away from home! Wonderful location, beautiful surroundings.
Luxurious, clean and relaxing. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and return again.

Excellent. The main wall is definitely the wow factor on first entrance.
We stayed in the Water Mill. It was comfortable, clean and convenient for what we needed. The welcome basket was a lovely addition and much appreciated. My son thought it was a slight shame we weren’t there in the winter as he thought it would have been cosy with the wood burner alight.
Nice decor and well equipped for a holiday stay. We would definitely stay again.
Beautiful property, in a charming setting.
The Watermill is a beautiful period property, just right for getting away on a quiet, relaxing break. The property is fitted with everything you could need, so our stay was very comfortable. The owners had kindly left us a wonderful 'Welcome pack', which was very much appreciated after a long journey. There is plenty to see and do for all ages within the vicinity, but the accommodation was also equipped with some books and games, as well as TV and DVD player, useful in the evenings & wet days. We all had a really enjoyable stay and would certainly stay again. Many thanks.
Lovely property in a beautiful setting
We had a lovely 3 nights in this very comfortable character property. Lots of interesting features in this converted water mill. Beds were comfortable, shower was perfect and everything we needed was provided. The welcome basket, which included delicious home made bread and ginger cake and fresh eggs, was much appreciated. The views from the main house's garden are wonderful. We'll definitely try to return one day.

Exeter airport 62 miles. Newquay airport 35 miles.
Looe rail station is 3 miles, Liskeard (mainline station) 5 miles.
Trains run regularly to/from London Paddington.
Cross channel port at Plymouth, 18 miles.
Road access from all parts of the UK is easy via the M5 to Exeter and then the Devon Expressway (A38) to Plymouth.
Exeter to Widegates is 69 miles and takes approximately 1¼ hours.
Our private lane leads directly to the B3253 - no winding single track roads to find us, but still secluded and peaceful.
Looe 3.5 miles (7 mins), Polperro 7 miles (15 mins), Fowey 24 miles (35 mins), Plymouth 18 miles (30 mins), Padstow 36 miles (45 mins), Newquay 37 miles (1 hour), Truro 41 miles (1 hour).
Farm shop 1 mile (4 mins). Small post office/general store 1 mile (3 mins). Pub/restaurant (Copley Arms) at Hessenford 1.6 miles (4 mins).
East Trenean Farm is in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) among beautiful rolling countryside but just 3.5 miles from the coast at Looe.
We are within easy reach of many of the excellent beaches on the south coast.
The south west coastal path is a must for walkers.
Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are also within easy reach for the more adventurous walkers.
Watersports are available at many of the beaches and fishing is popular from Looe.
In addition to the excellent beach and fishing, Looe benefits from an broad range of shops, taverns, restaurants, and galleries catering to all budgets.
The thriving University city of Plymouth is 30 minutes away with its lively nightlife on the Barbican, great shopping at the new Drake Circus centre, world famous Aquarium, views over the Sound from the Hoe, numerous marinas and boat yards.
In the opposite direction, Fowey, St Austell, Bodmin, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all within easy reach.
The National Trust look after miles of near-by coast and countryside from Whitsand to Polperro and have their own car parks to strike out from.
