This ex Water Mill has been converted to a comfortable holiday cottage with a beautiful vaulted living area, original stone walls and timber beams. ,

Modern decoration packed with bags of character and charm.

Secluded private sunny garden with small fenced pond, all surrounded by mature trees and flower beds.

Sleeps up to 4 guests.

Two large bedrooms with zip-link beds, which can be either, king size doubles or twins.

All beds have extra long, high quality, pocket sprung, mattresses.

Living Area has a 3 seat sofa and one armchair, dining table and 4 chairs, flat screen TV and DVD, wood burner with logs.

Fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dish-washer, toaster, kettle, microwave and tea-towels provided.

Utility Room with Washing Machine, sink, iron and ironing board.

Modern family shower room with large shower cubicle, toilet, basin, heated towel rail.

About the property

East Trenean Farm

Three of the 18th century, grade II listed barns here at East Trenean Farm were converted in 2010 to the highest standards. The one bedroomed Linhay was converted in 2015. They all offer comfortable accommodation with a modern 5 star interior.

Free Wi-fi in all properties.

The three larger barns have a "reverse level" layout with vaulted living rooms (Water Mill and Threshing Barn), wood burning stoves, modern well equipped kitchens, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms.

The Linhay is a single story building but has a few steps between the rooms. The lounge has a fireplace with electric fire.

All bedrooms have zip-link beds which can be used as 2 singles or a king size double (just let us know your preference when booking).

Each of the three barns has it's own private garden, a small south facing patio area overlooking the courtyard behind the farm house and access to the farm's 10 acres of gardens and pasture.

The newly converted Linhay has an enclosed patio/bbq area next to the courtyard and stunning views from the lounge and bedroom over the gardens and down the valley.

Whilst here, why not de-stress with a soak in our 8 person hot tub, situated in the grounds of the farmhouse with views across rolling countryside and a distant glimpse of the sea.

About Ian Farr

Brenda and I moved to East Trenean Farm in February 2014. We met each other over 30 years ago when studying at Plymouth Polytechnic and fell in love with the area. Now, having spent too long as city dwellers, we have returned to the West Country to run East Trenean Farm.

We live in the main farm house and let the three 18th century, grade II listed stone barns and the recently converted Linhay. Each barn has it's own private garden, but also access to the farm's 10 acres of grounds.

The Farm's previous owners converted the three larger barns and we have converted the one remaining derelict barn into a comfortable one bedroom cottage - The Linhay.

This newly converted barn has stunning views from the lounge and bedroom over the gardens and down the valley. Please take a look at our web-site for details.

Why Ian Farr chose Looe

We love this part of the country because of the great coastal paths and the proximity to wonderful sailing grounds along the south coast of Devon and Cornwall.

The barns have been converted in recent years and therefore benefit from the latest standards in terms of insulation, wiring and plumbing ! They are not draughty or damp. They have been decorated with a clean modern look, whilst retaining much of the character of the original some buildings.

The views to the south are wonderful and we have a distant glimpse of the sea.

What makes this barn unique

It is wonderfully peaceful at East Trenean Farm, close to the coast, but not in the hustle and bustle of town.

The accommodation has been decorated and equipped to a luxurious standard, with natural stone walls, oak floors, original beams exposed and comfortable beds and sofas.

Our water is from our own bore-hole, so lovely soft spring water on tap.

Free range eggs available from our hens (subject to their ongoing co-operation).

WiFi in each barn, so stay in touch while away from it all (if you have to).

Log burning stoves in each barn other than the Linhay. All have central heating.

Relax in our 8 person hot tub with views over the farm and down the valley to the sea.

Entertain the children on the swings or the trampoline.

My girlfriend and I had the most unbelievable stay here. The photos provided do not do the barn justice, as we were stunned by its shere size and posture. The attention to detail is high class and the greeting hamper was a lovely touch and well needed after a long drive from London. Everything in the Barn is 5* plus and removing yourself from the amazing showers can be tough! We thoroughly recommend staying here and a visit to Polperro is a must. See you again soon x

We enjoyed a two week stay at the wonderfully converted Watermill, fabulous accommodation, fantastic location. The Mill has been converted to a very high standard and provided everything we could possibly need and more. Our teenagers definitely enjoyed the benefit of free WiFi! We would definitely recommend the Watermill as an ideal base to explore both North and South Cornwall coasts as well as South Devon and hope to stay there again in the future.

Booking Notes:
We ask for a 25% deposit at the time of making the booking and full payment 6 weeks prior to arrival.
We also require a security deposit of £100 (payable with the balance of the rent) - in case of damages to the property. This is returnable following completion of your holiday provided there is no damage.
Full terms are contained in our booking conditions.
We are happy to accept short breaks outside of the school holidays.
4 Days: 70%, 3 Days: 60%, 2 Days 50% of the weekly rate.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is: Saturday
However, we are flexible during low season and can offer short breaks and flexible arrival and departure days. Please telephone or email with your preferred dates for a short stay quotation.

Notes on prices:
Prices are all per week including linen, towels and weekly cleaning.
A security deposit of £100 will be required when paying the final balance of the rent. The same to be returned on departure in accordance with our terms and conditions.
During school holidays, we book on a weekly basis. Outside of school holidays we are open to weekends / long weekends / mid week breaks.

Outside: A secure parking area is provided on site. Each barn has it's own private front garden with level lawn and garden furniture. The Water Mill also has it's own pond (fenced and gated from the front garden). Each barn has a small south facing patio with access to and overlooking the courtyard behind the farm house. Guests are welcome to explore the 10 acres of mainly pasture land and to visit the chickens, ducks and sheep which roam the grounds. This is no longer a working farm, but the fields are usually occupied by our neighbours sheep. There is a small duck pond on the land which is fenced and gated. We have a playground with swing and trampoline (with safety cage) in the field behind the farm house and a few (adult) push bikes available to borrow. The Hot Tub is situated in the grounds of the farmhouse and is available for all of our guests to use. We operate an informal chalkboard booking system to hold a timed slot.

An exceptional stay

Had an absolutely wonderful time at The watermill. Stayed with husband, baby, 2 year old and niece. The cottage was equipped with everything you could possibly need- truley a home away from home! Wonderful location, beautiful surroundings.

Luxurious, clean and relaxing. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and return again.

Beautiful property, in a charming setting.

The Watermill is a beautiful period property, just right for getting away on a quiet, relaxing break. The property is fitted with everything you could need, so our stay was very comfortable. The owners had kindly left us a wonderful 'Welcome pack', which was very much appreciated after a long journey. There is plenty to see and do for all ages within the vicinity, but the accommodation was also equipped with some books and games, as well as TV and DVD player, useful in the evenings & wet days. We all had a really enjoyable stay and would certainly stay again. Many thanks.

Lovely property in a beautiful setting

We had a lovely 3 nights in this very comfortable character property. Lots of interesting features in this converted water mill. Beds were comfortable, shower was perfect and everything we needed was provided. The welcome basket, which included delicious home made bread and ginger cake and fresh eggs, was much appreciated. The views from the main house's garden are wonderful. We'll definitely try to return one day.

Quiet luxury in the Cornish hills

The Watermill is one of three beautifully restored cottages on East Trenean Farm. The property is split across two floors with the main living areas upstairs and the bedrooms below. The toilet is downstairs so this does mean a lot of stairs and not ideal for those with disabilities. We used the Watermill as a base for our family holiday and it was well appointed and clean, we had a nice welcome basket comprising homemade cake and bread as well as other local produce...a Cornish beer on arrival was a welcome gift.

The Watermill has its own oil fired boiler for central heating but also has a wood burner in the lounge although we didn't need it in July this would be great during the colder months. Outside is a private enclosed garden with a BBQ and picnic bench for sitting out enjoying the sunshine. Outside the bedroom doors is a further seating area in a courtyard location.

The hot tub is great after a busy day and is booked in 45 minutes slots on a first come, first served basis. The farm itself has its own resident duck and chickens roaming around the site and the gardens are a lovely feature with views over the hills to the sea.

Other than a couple of chats to the owners we were left to our own devices although they are only across the courtyard in the farm house should anything be required. The visitors information guide is worth a read giving some insight on places to go and where to eat out.

Booking with the owner was fast and efficient with great communication both before and after our visit. I cannot fault this as a relaxing and luxurious place for a holiday.

Looe 3.5 miles (7 mins), Polperro 7 miles (15 mins), Fowey 24 miles (35 mins), Plymouth 18 miles (30 mins), Padstow 36 miles (45 mins), Newquay 37 miles (1 hour), Truro 41 miles (1 hour).

Farm shop 1 mile (4 mins). Small post office/general store 1 mile (3 mins). Pub/restaurant (Copley Arms) at Hessenford 1.6 miles (4 mins).

Further Details:

East Trenean Farm is in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) among beautiful rolling countryside but just 3.5 miles from the coast at Looe.

We are within easy reach of many of the excellent beaches on the south coast.

The south west coastal path is a must for walkers.

Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are also within easy reach for the more adventurous walkers.

Watersports are available at many of the beaches and fishing is popular from Looe.

In addition to the excellent beach and fishing, Looe benefits from an broad range of shops, taverns, restaurants, and galleries catering to all budgets.

The thriving University city of Plymouth is 30 minutes away with its lively nightlife on the Barbican, great shopping at the new Drake Circus centre, world famous Aquarium, views over the Sound from the Hoe, numerous marinas and boat yards.

In the opposite direction, Fowey, St Austell, Bodmin, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all within easy reach.

The National Trust look after miles of near-by coast and countryside from Whitsand to Polperro and have their own car parks to strike out from.
