About Michelle L

My Husband and I bought this Cottage In 2002 as soon as we viewed the property we fell in love with it. Hawthorn Cottage is a very special place for us. Goathland is a bustling village, with a variety of interests to suit all.

Michelle L purchased this farmhouse in 2002

Why Michelle L chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

Hawthorn cottage, Goathland, with it's panoramic views and open countryside surrounding the property is the ideal venue for large gatherings. Nestled on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors it is close enough to Whitby to enjoy it's charm & character, without incurring additional parking charges during your break or holiday! It's private, peaceful location guarantees a relaxing break for those just wanting to leave the hustle & bustle of everyday life at home.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Spacious secluded setting with walks from the door and panoramic views of beautiful Moorland countryside. The Hot tub is amazing come rain or shine and you have sole use during your stay. The Games room is very popular with our younger and more competitive guests alike. Complete with a pool table, games console & games plus tv & separate sky box. The little ones may also make use of the toys, books, jigsaws and extensive DVD collection.

Totally faultless stay at Hawthorn Cottage, Michelle was a pleasure to deal with and couldn't have done more to make our stay wonderful. The cottage is in a stunning location with matching views. The house worked perfectly for our weekend away with 9 children, the house is fully equipt with everything thing you need and beautifully beautifully decorated, the garden great for the kids with room to run around and a wooden climbing frame too! The only problem we had was that the children didn't want to leave! Hot tub just perfect was to end off a busy day visiting all the accessible attractions which are near by. Would recommend this cottage to anyone and we are already planning our next stay! Thank you again Michelle for a wonderful weekend at your cottage

A lovely stay for the family

  • 5 of 5

I stayed recently at this cottage (9th Sep) with family. The cottage is placed in a beautiful location and setting which the photograph does really not do justice. The cottage holds a large kitchen, a very handy games room with pool table and flat screen tv's. There is a large lounge area with a lovely open fire that would be handy for the colder nights ahead. All bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. To add to this, there is also the cabin that houses the hot tub which was very popular with our group! Whilst the cottage is nicely placed in a quiet location, there are local facilities within the local village , with the beautiful town of Whitby a few miles down the road which is well worth a visit. The cottage also included good WiFi connection along with handy usb charging sockets.

We really enjoyed our stay here, it was very well maintained with clean presentation which made our stay very comfortable. Would highly recommend this cottage as its facilities and setting will keep all the group happy and relaxed - just like us!

Great family holiday

  • 4 of 5

Lots of space,. 8 adults, 3 children, 3 toddlers. Everything was as described. The children loved the garden and we even staged our own "Olympic games". Within easy reach of both inland attractions and the coast.

Superb moorland cottage

  • 5 of 5

10 of us stayed for a long weekend, my 60th birthday, in this wonderful cottage. Beautifully maintained and furnished, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Would comfortably accommodate 12 people. The separate hot tub was a great bonus as was the pool table and games room.

The situation on the moor overlooking Goathland is spectacular, curlews, grouse, pheasants and many small birds especially the Yellowhammers are wonderful. Early morning coffee or an evening drink on the patio is a real treat.

The 20 minute walk to the railway station and Goathland is a bit of a climb at times but ok for the reasonably fit. The waterfall walk is great with Mallyan Spout hotel and the pub at Beck Hole breaking the walk nicely. Whitby and Pickering are just a steam train ride away, must do this as the route and scenery is stunning.

In summary a great value, beautifully situated and maintained cottage. I have no hesitation in giving Hawthorn cottage and Michelle, the owner, who met us on arrival, 5 stars.

Fabulous weekend

  • 5 of 5

Ideal property for a girls getaway, the cottage was spacious and immaculately decorated but still retaining its charm. There was plenty of entertainment to keep us occupied with the games room and the hottub was perfect for us while looking out onto the moors with a glass of prosecco in hand. Michelle was so lovely and the welcome pack was a bonus, the house was equipped with everything we could have needed and more. Beautiful location in an stunning park of Yorkshire with lots to do in the area and the local village was charming. All in all a fabulous weekend and could not recommend the cottage highly enough! Thanks again for having us Michelle & family!

Great Multi Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 families all going away together for the first time. The directions to get to the cottage were excellent & on arrival, eventually, found Michelle showing the early birds around the cottage as it is really spacious.

There was more than enough space for all the families to have time away from each other and the communal areas were great for being together too.

The teenagers enjoyed the games room and the hot tub and everything we needed was in the property.

We were blessed with the weather as the first 6 days were glorious.

Breakfast on the patio looking over the valley and listening to the NYMR trains go past was idyllic.

It was also the week of the meteor shower and sitting out watching it all happen was amazing.

The cottage was a great central hub to get to Whitby/Scarborough/ Robin Hoods Bay etc.

The walks from the cottage into Goathland and Beck Hole were great fun.

Meeting Michelle was great and from booking to leaving she made sure everything was OK.

All in all a fantastic holiday.
