Welcome to our home in France, located within Basse Normandy, in the area of Manche, an area of great natural beauty and full of history.
Ideally suited for couples and adults with discerning taste.
Normandy is famous for its history, wonderful cider, calvados brandy, green pastures, stone houses and delicious cheeses.
The Barn is very well appointed and rooms are all of a generous size. It is light, airy and spacious.
Ideally located for day visits to many places of interest such as the spectacular Mont St Michel. The Blanche L'Abbeye is in nearby Mortain along with the waterfalls, the Cascades.
There are monuments and ruins at Vire and Avranches and also the Bayeux tapestry to see not far away.
We are close enough to visit the Normandy D-Day beaches for day trips.
Ideally situated for hiking, biking and there is a golf course near Vire.
Free WiFi connection.
We are offering our luxury home in France as a special place to stay and take in all that Normandy has to offer. The place was bought in 2006 and has been lovingly restored to a high level of comfort in 2010.
The Barn is a great escape from the daily rat race ... and is a place filled with calm and tranquility.
It has been enjoyed by Honeymoon couples and those wanting a special place to stay.
We enjoy our own time in France, and are always planning the next project!
Suzanne Crown purchased this farmhouse in 2006
We love the area, it is close enough to the ports and airport to make travelling there easy, yet it is in an unspoilt location.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, we are still exploring in all directions!
It is not in tourist trap, and the smaller villages around retain their character even today. The locals are mostly French, friendly and welcoming. The country feeling abounds in the produce available in the local shops and markets.
The property is not just a place to stay .... it is a home.
You can enjoy the quiet, peaceful area and yet be in the middle of a bustling town market within minutes.
The countryside changes throughout the seasons and each one brings a different feeling to the house.
In summer it is bright, open and sunny .... and in winter, warm and inviting ....
We offer quality accommodation to enable you to explore and enjoy this region of France.
The barn is absolutely lovely. Everything we could possibly want is here. You have done an absolutely amazing job converting an old stone barn into a lovely house.
Helen and I have stayed in about 14 apartments and houses in England, France (mainly) and Italy over the last 5 years.
Yours is by far the best. We promise to treat it carefully.
Thunderstorms today, but good weather forecast for the rest of our stay.
Regards - Ian and Helen
We are home and just wanted to let you know how we got on.
We had a Fab time and fell in love with the area.
The barn is beautiful and very easy to live in. There is everything that you could possibly need and more. We give it 5 stars! What wood are the stairs made of, they are beautiful?
The area is lovely and we were amazed at all the flowers everywhere. We didn’t use either of the quilts as it was so hot. The garden is and looking lovely. The hedge is also growing well.

The accommodation was fantastic, everything we needed. The property was very well maintained and just as described in the listing. I would highly recommend this property. The town of Sourdeval was also quaint. We liked the walks, the shops and restaurants.
Apple Barn is a well-equipped and beautifully furnished home in rural Normandy. It is set in peaceful surroundings in the midst of lots of wildlife and beautiful countryside. There are good restaurants in nearby towns and it provides a good base for exploring the sights of Normandy. We spent two weeks in this lovely home and would most certainly recommend it to others looking for a quiet break.
We were two adult couples and rented the Barn for one week holiday in June.
It is just as it looks on the website : wonderful !
Beautiful and very comfortable barn in a quiet location in the country side. Very nice garden and surroundings.
We had everything we could need : fully equipped kitchen and dining room, very cozy living room.
The two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, were very comfortable and had plenty of space to hang clothes, etc.
As it had rained quite a lot with rather low temperatures the whole week, we were a little apprehensive about the cold and humidity in the Barn but we stayed nicely dry and comfortable the entire week !
All conveniences can be found in the nice small town of Sourdeval, just 5 minutes away. Don’t miss the market on Tuesday morning!
We all enjoyed very much our stay at the Barn.
Suzanne provided us with all needed information and stayed in contact with us in case we'd need assistance.
My son and I had the pleasure to stay at the apple barn for 4 nights in mid January .
I could not fault the place .
Lovely quiet situation with everything you could need.
The owners have done a brilliant job with the barn conversion and have used high spec fittings and attention to detail.
Great kitchen and showers, huge bath and equally huge flat screen TV.
One morning we awoke to several inches of snow but we were so cosy from the underfloor heating and there is also a log burner - it was magical.
All conveniences can be found a couple of miles down the road in Sourdeval.
Don't hesitate to book this wonderful place which we loved for a winter break and can only imagine what other seasons could bring too for a relaxing vacation .
We will return and many thanks.
This was our second visit to the Apple Barn and it was just as magical as the last. The quietness of the location is almost disconcerting but you soon start to relish it. No hassle, no fuss and everything you could ever need to have a lovely, relaxing holiday. We love the kitchen, in particular, which is a joy to use. We will be regular visitors over the coming years, I'm sure.
As we turned off the main road into the lane leading to the barn we knew it was going to be a great stay, on entering the barn we found it to be as seen on the website. We had arrived late and tired and it was so quite, when we awoke next the day we enjoyed our breakfast outside on the sunny rear terrace, We had great weather and so many Places to visit Mortain was super with its walks and water falls on the doorstep. Shopping at Sourdeval was good and the Cremerie Cave owner was helpful for cheeses and Calverdos! to be enjoyed on the sunny front terrace in the evening, Would recommend staying hereto anyone, and we would like to come back someday.
