Lovely setting ,spotless accommodation, excellent host in Liz ,thanks for the welcome pack of goodies ,definitely a place to revisit sometime in the future, Have no problem in recommending the cottage to visitors.
This property was well worth a stay and convenient for traveling to see different places round about had a really nice time
What a fantastic surprise! We were looking at caravans & the prices for 2 people were ridiculous. Booked Stable Cottage as it had 1 bedroom, fine for 2 of us & it was cheaper than a caravan. We weren't sure what to expect but it was fantastic, everything you'd want & then some. Kitchen very well equiped. It didnt feel like a holiday home, more a home from home. Welcome tray lovely with local honey, cake & milk in the fridge. Wont bother with caravans anymore & will definitely go back!
5 days at Stable Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all the preparatory organisation went smoothly. Every consideration had been given to our needs and comfort.
Secluded comfy hideaway
Only a few miles from the city of Berwick-upon-Tweed, these cottages provided an excellent base camp to drive anywhere in the Borders. One hour from Edinburgh and two and 1/2 from Carlisle. We were able to see many points of interest with 5-6 hour daytrips at a leisurely pace. Property manager was on site but privacy well respected. Thank you Liz.
Okay. Was stinky.
Nice area but house was stinky with chemical air fresheners and made me ill. I found 6 in three rooms! Tried opening windows and flies from close by stable moved in.
I am so sorry you felt this way about our lovely Stable Cottage. All the airfresheners were removed when you informed me that they made you feel unwell. I did advise you that leaving the windows open would attract bugs. This has nothing to do with the nearby stables but a lot to do with the uncharacteristically hot and humid weather we have had this year in the UK. Scotland is known for its midges! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in the UK.
We are a short drive from the beautiful beaches of North Northumberland - Spittal, Goswick, Bamburgh and Alnmouth. To the north, there is good surfing at Coldingham Bay which is a twenty minute drive away.
Due to our rural location, a car is essential. We are only 4 miles from the main A1 road but there is no bus service and limited taxis. We are an hour and a quarter from both Edinburgh and Newcastle airports but are only ten minutes from Berwick upon Tweed with its mainline east coast railway station.
The village of Paxton is one mile away and has a good village pub. The ancient walled town of Berwick upon Tweed is four miles away and has supermarkets, banks, restaurants and the usual local shops. Situated centrally between Newcastle and Edinburgh, this is an ideal location to fully explore both sides of the border with access to a stunning region of walks and strolls along a picturesque coast. This is an historic area of castles and magnificent gardens with heritage.
