Sleeps 4. 2 bedroom cottage. Rose Cottage is one of the original cottages built for staff of the estate. It is a charming property located in its own private gardens within the grounds of Spital House. The cottage comprises two bedrooms. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with ensuite bathroom and separate shower and dressing room. The twin bedroom is on the first floor together with a bathroom with three piece suite and shower over the bath. On the ground floor, there is a large open plan sitting/ dining room with electric log burner and easy access to a well equipped kitchen. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard.

Spital House Cottages consist of three cottages within the grounds of a private country house estate. They provide four star Tourist Board rated accommodation with an exceptional level of comfort and class. The cottages are well equipped with modern appliances and home comforts. There is central heating throughout and linen is provided. Children are welcome but unfortunately no pets are permitted.

I would definitely recommend this property. We came here for the first time twelve years ago and have been coming every summer since. The cottage itself is lovely , very cosy and clean and the setting is beautiful.

We are a short drive from the beautiful beaches of North Northumberland - Spittal, Goswick, Bamburgh and Alnmouth. To the north, there is good surfing at Coldingham Bay which is a twenty minute drive away.


Due to our rural location, a car is essential. We are only 4 miles from the main A1 road but there is no bus service and limited taxis. We are an hour and a quarter from both Edinburgh and Newcastle airports but are only ten minutes from Berwick upon Tweed with its mainline east coast railway station.


The village of Paxton is one mile away and has a good village pub. The ancient walled town of Berwick upon Tweed is four miles away and has supermarkets, banks, restaurants and the usual local shops. Situated centrally between Newcastle and Edinburgh, this is an ideal location to fully explore both sides of the border with access to a stunning region of walks and strolls along a picturesque coast. This is an historic area of castles and magnificent gardens with heritage.
