Clean, well laid-out, well-equipped. Very good value

We arrived by train & bus, and found the property perfect for our needs. Ten minutes walk to the station, 15 minutes to town. Having visited Swanage before, we knew what to expect - an old-style seaside town with plenty to see and do. Many good walks (some a bit steep, but the wife was very happy to take the bus and wait for me at the top).

I was fascinated by the fundraising idea for the pier - sponsor a plank! We'll be doing just that - watch out for one saying simply "Janet & John, 2017"! Lots of very good food... we told ourselves that it didn't matter, because we were "walking it off". A week wasn't long enough to do everything, so we'll probably be back in a couple of years.

Modern, comfortable accomodation within easy wakling distance of the town and it's amenities

An enjoyable visit to this lovely English seaside town with it's independent shops, accessible transport links to nearby Bournemouth and Dorchester. A bonus is a preserved steam railway to Corfe Castle through the Purbeck peninsular. The accommodation is overseen by a friendly sociable owner who will happily give helps when required.

A home-from-home family experience in sunny Swanage

The first thing we noticed about Princess Road is that, like most of Swanage, it's a parking nightmare with cars lining both sides of a fairly narrow street. However, we needn't have worried - the property owners have this situation well-covered and, despite heading-out on all but one of our 7 days in-residence, we had a space for our rental vehicle at the front of The Annex every time.

Inside the accommodation was of a very good standard with modern fittings and furnishings - loads of the very best from IKEA, John Lewis and the like. The outside space to the side of the property also turned-out to be much bigger than we expected and was a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine in the evening. Being a 10-minute walk from the start of the main Town, the street was also reasonably quiet throughout the night most nights.

Another big-scorer on our list was the never-ending supply of hot water for the upstairs shower which, although not at a pressure that would remove your skin, was just about right for the whole family to enjoy. Upstairs and downstairs loos are also a major benefit during the morning rush on the bathroom facilities.

To bring a balance to our review, the only thing that scored anything less than impressive was the seating configuration. Unless you're 5 foot tall or under, the only place we reckon you'll be comfortably able to put your feet up is on the beds - the 2 sofas in the front room being too small for a sprawl, there being no bath and the outside space being suited only for the table/chairs that are provided. Happily, we had great weather during our stay, so there was plenty of time lying on Studland Beach as compensation!

Overall and having tried - and been disappointed with - The Grand Hotel, The Purbeck House Hotel (twice!) and Sandford Park (never - never ever - again!), we reckon this was about as close to ideal as we could hope for. Close to the Town Centre and a 2-bedroom configuration - one large and one small double - perfect for our needs.
