Cottage in Foolow, Nr. Eyam, Peak District, Derbyshire, England - Ideally Situated For Walks From The Door, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall & Historic Village Of Eyam.

Foolow is situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park and lies 15 miles west of Sheffield. The cottage is well placed for all country pursuits such as walking, rock climbing and gliding. The village itself does not have a shop, just a local pub, The Bulls Head, 75 metres away, serving good food every day except Monday. The nearest main railway station, at Chesterfield, is 15 miles away. Eyam, famous for the plague of 1665, is 2 miles to the east and has local shops, as does Tideswell with its “Cathedral of the Peak”, 3 miles west. Castleton, well known for the Blue John Caverns, is only a few miles away as are many other attractions including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Dovedale, Bakewell, Buxton, Chesterfield, Matlock and Matlock Bath. The cottage is owner maintained and has been tastefully upgraded, whilst still retaining its old world charm. It has fitted carpets and gas central heating.

About Maveen Norton

As owners of Sycamore Cottage, Maveen and Brian Norton, are delighted to be celebrating their 30th anniversary of receiving guests to the cottage. The cottage was purchased by Maveen and Brian in 1983, and as Brian was a carpenter/joiner/builder, all the renovation work was carried out by him. Sycamore Cottage is a semi-detached property adjoining the owner's home.

Maveen is a keen gardener and birdwatcher and loves life in this friendly village, only moving the half mile from her childhood home at the nearby hamlet of Housley on marriage. She has lived and worked in the area all of her life. The cottage was, for some years, the village shop and as a child Maveen never thought that one day she would be living there.

Cosy comfortable cottage in Foolow

My husband and I had a great week in Sycamore Cottage with our two children of 6 and 8yrs. The owner was on hand to welcome us on arrival, and show us around. The cottage is very comfortable and equipped with all that you need, including very comfortable beds. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the Peak District.

We very much hope to stay again one day.

Lovely little cottage

A lovely clean cottage in a lovely area with lots of walks straight from the door.was perfect for me, the girls and dog. The owners were friendly and helpful and on call if needed. We stayed over the new year and will be going back again in the future.

Cosy and homely *****

Stayed for 5 nights. A lovely village , well situated for touring the Peak District.

Thank you to Maveen ,the cottage catered for all our needs and was very comfortable and cosy after a day out walking and exploring . A takeaway from Stella´s Kitchen is a must, also the Anchor were very accommodating to us with our dog.

A Little Gem in Beautiful Foolow

Sycamore Cottage is a quaint & character filled property in the most quint essential English village. The garden is beautiful (very country cottage) and the gentle trickle from the fish pond simply adds to the relaxation. We found the cottage to be both comfortable & well equipped. The beds were of a good quality & the bonus of shower rooms both up & down. We know the Peak District quite well & found this location to be perfect for the main sights, towns & villages. The owner lives on site & is extremely friendly & knowledgeable. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here & we will do so again in the future.

fantastic foolow

We had a brilliant stay at Sycamore Cottage. The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we could possibly need. We also enjoyed sitting in the beautiful, peaceful garden listening to birdsong and the waterfall on the pond. Foolow is such a pretty village and the Barrel Inn about a mile away was great for friendliness, character and food. The views from there were stunning.

Thank you for a lovely stay in such a well equipped, cosy cottage! We have had a wonderful time exploring White Peak; walking, caving and eating lots of Bakewell tart! We've all been blown away by the hospitality of everyone we've met this week, and we would love to come back and stay at Sycamore Cottage again soon.

Outside: The cottage has a well maintained flower garden featuring two formal fish ponds, lawns and patio both with garden furniture. There is driveway parking for 2 cars. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, towels, electricity and gas central heating included in the price. Bed linen is changed on a weekly basis. Cottage is cleaned in preparation for new guests. Other: Entrance porch for muddy boots.
