Lake view cottages have all been renovated to a very high standard in 2014 and are situated in a superb rural location overlooking the Lac de Pellinec in central Brittany. All of the cottages have flat screen tvs with English Freeview channels and Blueray players. The 8 mile long lake of Lac de Guerledan with its many safe and sandy beaches and the Nantes to Brest canal are just a short drive away. Both of these offer many sporting activities such as horse riding, water skiing, canoeing and cycling. The cottages have been designed to accommodate families with children of all ages. The fenced swimming pool is heated with a solar heating system. Altogether an ideal base for exploring central Brittany or just unwinding around the swimming pool. All guests booking any of our cottages can benefit from a 20% discount on any Brittany Ferries crossing.
David and I moved to France 13 years ago with our young son Luke. We are now a family of 4, Luke is 17 and Ryan 9 We love the French way of life and are two sons are bi-lingual which we hope will help them in their chosen careers.
We have been running holiday cottages now for 12years and enjoy meeting all our guests.
Vanessa and David purchased this cottage in 2005
We purchased this property as the location is fantastic, over looking the tranquil Lac de Pellinec and also benefiting from a very good restaurant a short walk away. The three cottages have been renovated to a very high standard and benefit from the newly built in ground heated swimming pool.
All of our cottages will benefit from the stunning view over looking the lake. The lake is ideal for guest wishing to fish or just soak up the view. The Auberge de Pellinec restaurant is a few minutes walk away and offer very good home cooked food. It is run by husband and wife, Patricia speaks excellent English!
We've had a lovely April stay at Cherry Tree cottage in Rural Brittany.
This year we decided to take a chance on something "new and different" from our normal package holiday. We decided on a late booking in Brittany and had no regrets.
Before our arrival the communications were clear and the owners even helped us to arrange our return ferry crossings with a substantial discount.
On our arrival we weren't disappointed as the accommodation was fastidiously clean, really well arranged and maintained.
We would unhesitatingly recommend this property along with the local food and of course the beautiful walks by the lake - our favourite !
Our thanks again to David and Vanessa for making it such a pleasant experience from start to finish :)
My family and I visited Cherry Tree Cottage last August, we were blown away by the beautiful location and the quality of the holiday home. The owners really have thought of everything, it was like a home from home. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was lovely.
We had an amazing two weeks exploring Brittany in the sunshine. I would highly recommend this holiday home to any other families looking for a hassle free, relaxing holiday, we are going back again this year.
We stayed in Cherry Tree Cottage in the summer of 2014 and had fantastic weather. The cottage itself was a brand new conversion of an old farm building and has direct views over the lake, we enjoyed leisurely breakfasts on the terrace and in the evenings a glass or two of wine and a BBQ overlooking the lake. Although I am not into fishing there was always somebody fishing when we went for a walk around the lake and the wooden jetty is just below the cottages.
The cottage is well equipped, probably the best cottage we have rented in France, but for those who like to eat out in the evenings there is a fabulous restaurant within a short walk. Here you can get a four course evening meal for less than twenty euros. Supermarkets and the local village are within a five minutes drive.
The swimming pool was great for the children and kept them occupied and being fenced we did not need to worry about the younger ones wondering off into the pool area when we were not around. The gate has a self closing mechanism so younger children are unable to open the gate from the outside.
Plenty to do and see in the area, wish we had brought the bikes as cycling on the quiet roads would have been nice but we did hire some bikes in the local village and go along the Nantes to Brest Canal, ideal for children as reasonably flat. You can also hire canoes locally.
Although we usually have a rule of not going back to the same place twice we have said that we would go back as we had such a good time.
We rented all 3 cottages for a family holiday, it was a superb location and ideal position for a family holiday. All 3 cottages were of an excellent standard everything you could ever want for a self catering holiday and more. Cherry Tree cottage had the added bonus of a downstairs toilet which was a bonusThe kitchens were extremley well equipped, everything was clean and it all matched such a rare things these days. Plenty of games, books etc if the weather was not great but we didn't need these as the weather was very hot. The bedrooms and bathrooms were huge and very well laid out. We loved the terrace overlooking the lake, ideal for a BBQ in the evenings along with a glass of wine watching the sun go down. The lake is so close to the property ideal for some of our husbands who wanted to do night fishing. The swimming pool was clean, warm and plenty of chairs and sun shades. The pictures of the cottages and lake do not do it justice. The restaurant which is located just a few metres away from the house is really good value for money, we ate there quite a few evenings and the owners speak really good English. The owners who only live a few miles away were excellent hosts and very knowledgable of the area, so friendly and could not do enough for us.Having a good reliable internet access was a bonus as we have been to places before and the internet access was very limited due to the position of the router and stone walls We are already planning our return visit and would 100% recommend these cottages for families of all ages whether it's to sit and relax around the pool or to go sightseeing.
Easy access to the 3 different coastlines is approx one hours drive-away. Within 15 mins drive you can be at the beautiful 8 mile long Lac de Guerledan with its 3 man-made clean sandy beaches and the Nantes to Brest Canal where you can enjoy many miles of walking and cycling.
Our nearest ferry ports of St Malo and Roscoff and about 1 1/2 hours easy drive, Cherbourg and Caen are a little further at approx 3 to 3 1/2 hours drive. The channel tunnel is 7 hours by car. If you are looking at airports, Brest, Nantes, Rennes and Dinard are all within easy reach .
Lake View Cottages are 2 miles drive away from Saint Nicolas du Pelem which has a large supermarket, banks, chemist and boulangery and a large outdoor pool with water slides. The market town of Rostrenen with a choice of 3 supermarkets is 15 mins drive away. The larger towns of St Brieuc, Pontivy are approx 1/2 an hours easy drive.
A new indoor pool is being built in one of the local villages and is due to open in June 2014.
Lake View Cottages has an Auberge restaurant within walking distance and here you can have a 4 course evening meal for just over eighteen euros however there are many other good value restaurants within a short drive including two with michelin stars. The lake is well stocked for fishing and permits can be bought from any of the local shops.
