Lovely house in a nice friendly village.

  • 5 of 5

Had an excellent stay. Lindsay very helpful throughout with the booking process. House is delightful & well furnished. Lots to do in the area, we tended to drive out and about to places of interest, fountains abbey, brimham rocks, forbidden corner, all within 30mins or so.

Parking can be a bit tricky at the house, but I managed to reverse a Nissan x-trail up the rear drive so you just need to be careful.

Would definitely recommend it & would happily return.

Lovely property in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location and lovely, traditional Yorkshire cottage. We had 8 people in our party with 2 family-sized cars so we found the parking tricky, especially when arriving in the dark. Aside from this, the cottage is beautifully kept, pristinely clean, and very cosy with a log-burner in the living room. The location is stunning and the village very friendly. The location is also very accessible and there is an abundance of sights to see within easy distance, at all times of the year. You could return here many, many times and do and see new things every time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very complementary reveiw. We too think the location of the house is very beautiful, nestling in a valley. I often find myself staring from the windows at the picturesque veiws of the surrounding hillside fields, made even better when the farmers have animals grazing in them. The drive is challenging because of having to either reverse in or out and it being fairly narrow but in 11 years of owning the house we have never known anyone to have a scape. Also the lowered pavement in front of the house gives an extra parking space.

Not disappointed at all! Homely, spotless, comfortable family friendly, doggy hospitable property.Truly, not an element overlooked. Loads of detailed information on the managing of the house, surroundings and almost immediate response to heating question. Thanks Lindsay and Michael.Try as I might, I cannot fault a thing. My family of 8 had a relaxing week and wouldn't hesitate to book Naegill House again, hopefully, sooner rather than later.

Excellent accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales

  • 4 of 5

Naegill House is a very spacious and wonderfully comfortable place to stay. The whole house has a very welcoming feel and provided our party of eight (three generations of the family) with a lovely base for a special celebration week. We appreciated how lovingly the house has been restored and furnished. Dealings with Lindsay, the owner, were at all times efficient and pleasant. The area offers a wide range of things to do, whether more or less on the doorstep or further afield. Not to be missed are the spectacular walks in Hackfall Woods - we were lucky to enjoy some wonderful autumn colour.

As a family we cook a great deal so appreciated the spacious kitchen with its large cooker. Lindsay took on board our comments for the provision of some kitchen extras. Booths is an excellent supermarket in Ripon.

Car parking is manageable but a little tricky.

Overall we had an excellent stay and would readily recommend this house to others.

Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely house in a great location. Perfect for the 8 in our party.

The walled garden was ideal for corralling the small people we had with us and the front of the house is something of a sun trap. We managed to eat alfresco several times during the stay.

We went cycling all but one day of the week we stayed. The cycling in this part of Yorkshire ranges from easy to the east and hard to the west so choose what suits best.

One great thing about this house is that the National ByWay ( goes straight past the front door. From here you can, if you choose, go up to 4000 miles through the quietest roads in England!

There is a secure storage behind the kitchen that we used to keep 3 bicycles.

Lindsay, the owner, was helpful and clear throughout the booking process.

One slight issue for us was there is no freezer in the house so meal planning was more complicated than we would have liked. Other than that though, highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the informative review. We had no idea we were on the national byway. We certainly see alot of cyclists passing the house and have enjoyed the cycling in the area. Though we don't have a freezer we have 2 fridges, one very large in the storage area and a smaller one with freezer compartment. The local independent shops are excellent and within easy reach so we tend to buy fresh food at these throughout our stays.
