Situated on a hillside on the Tuscan side of the Niccone Valley, Ca de Muito has a delightful location with breath-taking views and yet quick and easy access to the Niccone Valley and the village of Mercatale di Cortona where there are shops, cafes, gelaterias and a great trattoria. It is ideally placed for seeing Umbria and Southern Tuscany whilst enjoying the peace and beauty of the countryside. The garden is really pretty, well-maintained with flowering shrubs and trees. The pool area is paved and has large umbrellas and sun loungers and deck-chairs, there is a changing room at the far end. The house is on three floors and retains the the charms of the traditional country cottage while having modern comforts including wifi internet. There are several outside dining areas with a covered area directly outside the kitchen. The master bedroom and the sitting room both have generous balconies enjoying the lovely views. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and bunk beds. The bathroom has shower only. The ground floor has outside doors to the kitchen and living/dining room. On this floor are the kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge-freezer and a dining room/living-room. There is a wooden staircase to the next floor with a comfortable sitting room with sofas, chairs and a Smart TV, the double bedroom, which has a door onto a balcony with steps down to the garden and the shower-room bathroom. A steep flight of wooden stairs from the sitting room leads to the attic bedroom (note there is no door to this bedroom). There are 2 single beds here (can be made up as a double) and a set of bunk beds. The house is attached at the rear but in such a way as it is possible not even to notice this. The garden and pool area are entirely private and not over-looked.
I am the booking agent for the house, my name is Emma and I live nearby in the Niccone Valley, with my husband, Martin, two daughters and our cat and dog. We run a small rentals agency called Gorgacce Rentals, named after the first house my parents owned here which they bought in the 1980's. In those days before the internet they were very successful at renting their house to holiday-makers and their neighbours asked if they could rent their houses too and from this grew our rentals agency. Seeking a better life Martin and I (with our then one year old daughter, Isabel,) moved here in 1999 and have taken over most of the running of the rental business although my mum still keeps the accounts!
This house is an absolute gem. Fantastic views, lots of places to sit out, in the sun or the shade. A simple yet perfect house.
As booking agents who live nearby we want all our guests to enjoy their stay at Ca de Muito. You can book knowing that we are on hand to deal with problems that may arise during your stay, we are always available by phone, text, WhatsApp and by email. We have decided not to use Owners Direct online booking service so that we do not have to pass on their processing fee to our guests. We have also been made aware that Owners Direct can be very slow at responding to problems with payments and return of security deposits.
We invite all our guests to a wine tasting evening at the local vineyard. This is a regular event run by by husband Martin Daykin who recently passed his Italian Sommeliers Association exams.
This is our first year of renting Ca de Muito, as soon as we have some comments we will add them here.
The Villa looks great and it's located uphill in privacy with great views around. Everything was ready and clean, instructions were helpful. Pool area is excellent for lazy days, the gardener came by 2-3 times to tend garden and pool. We were also pleasantly surprised with the dishwasher and washing mashine. Wifi was strong even by the pool. Best vacation I had so far. Recommended for trips of 4-6 people with family or friends. Only small downside was heating on the shower, which took longer for warm water.
We had a fantastic week at Ca' di Muito. The house is in a superb location for seeing all the well known sites of central Italy such as Perugia, Cortona, Assisi, Orvieto, Todi, Florence and even Rome (for a long day).
The owners have thought of everything and the house is very comfortable and homely and has excellent wifi signal in the house as well as at the pool. The gardens are gorgeous and the pool and views from it are spectacular. We were joined most days by a family of peacocks which was great fun. Couldnt fault this place and cant wait to go back.
