Spacious 2 bed townhouse minutes from the beach, superb golf and sea views

Beautiful townhouse available for holiday rental. Our spacious two-bedroom home is located frontline on the Alcaidesa Heathland Golf Course. There is a large sunny roof terrace with spectacular uninterrupted views of the golf course, the sea and the beautiful surrounding countryside. We also have a garden which backs directly onto the golf course with a table, chairs, umbrella and bbq. The house is part of a small exclusive development situated on the hilltop with a beautiful shared outdoor pool also overlooking the golf course. The community is gated and well- secured. There is underground secure parking. The house offers everything you need for a relaxed enjoyable holiday.

There is a fully-equipped kitchen with new appliances and a lovely split level dining/living room opening onto the garden via french doors. See in the Notes section below for a detailed description of the property's interior.

ALCAIDESA AND SURROUNDING AREA: The coast from Marbella towards Algeciras has been more sensitively developed than the Eastern part of this coastline. The communities are less densely populated and the environment is well looked after. Alcaidesa is the hidden gem on this coastline. Our house is just a couple of minutes walk from the brand new luxurious clubhouse of Alcaidesa...and a couple of minutes drive down the hill takes you to the local beach, a 4km stretch of unspoilt beach with a blue flag award. There are two lovely beach bars (chiringitas) situated on the beach with stunning views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the African Coastline. Ask us for more information on local restaurants and facilities. Just 5 minutes away is the famous resort of Sotogrande. Visit the marina and relax with a drink while watching the beautiful yachts. There are several excellent restaurants in the port and around. Also nearby is the beautiful hilltop town of San Roque perfect for an evening of visiting 'tapas' bars.

FURTHER AFIELD: Just off the N340 highway, Gibraltar, is only 10 minutes drive and is full of interesting things to do. You can go up the Rock for the views and see the apes, or visit the incredible caves dug by the military. One of the little known pleasures is the Dolphin Safaris running out of Gibraltar Marina. They are excellent value for money. The boat trips are relatively inexpensive and you'll always get a result with the Dolphins. In fact if you don't see one you get your money back!

A short distance from Gibraltar is the port town of Algeciras where you can hop on a ferry to Morocco for the day. There is also a good water park for those visiting with children.

Continue along the coast to Tarifa, a wonderfully interesting walled town full of shops, cafes and boutiques, and then visit the miles of beautiful white sandy beaches of the Costa de La Luz.

INLAND: Catch the mountain train up to Ronda. You travel on a single line track designed by a British Engineer 102 years ago. There are many little villages en route, with their delightful Victorian stations. Alternatively, drive up, the views as you climb throughout he mountains are truly stunning, an ever-changing landscape of lakes, waterfalls and cork forests....or visit one of the many beautiful 'white villages' in the mountains.

You are only an hour and a half's drive from the famous town of Jerez. Visit a bodega and sample some great wines and sherry or watch the amazing horses dancing.

A little further are the beautiful cities of Seville and Cordoba, steeped in history and grandeur. And Granada is only a two hour drive.

Why Penny Rhodes chose San Roque

We love Spain as the Spanish are so child-friendly. We are also a golfing family and love to look out on the golf course and the sea from the bedroom and roof terrace. The views from the house are what sold it to us. It is a tranquil area, but there is loads to do nearby. The children have a lot of space in the house to play and outside it is safe. The beach is beautiful and they entertain themselves which means we get to relax!

What makes this house unique

The view, the quiet area. Sotogrande port with beautiful restaurants and cafes. The children participate in the kids tennis club and horseriding nearby.

You enter the property into the main hall which opens onto a spacious, bright, split-level dining and living room with french doors onto the garden. Also on the ground floor is a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary appliances and a downstairs toilet. The dining room is lit via an internal atrium which passes through the centre of the house bringing lots of light into the ground floor and the landing and stair areas. On the first floor are two spacious bedrooms. The views from both bedrooms are spectacular with balconies looking over the golf courses and the sea. The national parkland seen from the master bedroom makes for a particularly spectacular view. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and built in wardrobes. The master bedroom also has a vanity/dressing area between the bedroom and bathroom. One floor further up a door opens onto a sunny, private roof terrace again offering spectacular views and a private solarium.

Beautiful House!

Well, this house is stunning - spacious, bright & airy and fully equipped for all your holiday needs. The people we met there were very friendly, and if lazy days around a beautiful pool, or several rounds of golf are your thing, then I would recommend it.

However, the only downside for some would be the location - apart from golf, there is nothing else in the vicinity; the nearest bar and very small shop are a 45 minute walk away! You absolutely HAVE to have a car for everything - shopping, eating out, sightseeing, and even the beach - although you can see the sea, it is about 10 minutes by car to the beach. That is the only reason I personally didn't give it 5 stars.

But, on the other hand if you want a relaxing break away from it all, in an exceptionally comfortable house, then this is without doubt the answer. I would certainly recommend a glass of wine or two up on the roof terrace in the evening watching the sunset - pretty spectacular.

The customer service from the owner was outstanding, and I did come home feeling thoroughly relaxed and de-stressed. I would without doubt recommend this house to family & friends, and anyone else for that matter!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review which highlights why we bought this house. It is in an undeveloped area with fantastic views and you can experience the real Spain in villages and towns only minutes away. Yes a car is recommended, but the beauty of the location offsets having to use your car. The local shops, bars and restaurants are only 5 - 10mins drive. (Large supermarkets with deli and fresh fish counters are 5mins drive.) So you can enjoy peace and quiet at the house and venture out a few minutes by car when you want a bit more activity. If you do want to walk, the Golf Club House welcomes non-members and is a short walk down the street. They have a beautiful bar and restaurant with stunning views. The house is located beachside, and it takes 5 mins by car to reach the beach as you have to wind down a hill. However, once you reach the beach it is a long 4kms stretch of clean sand which is not built up. We are happy to welcome visitors to share our lovely home.

A very satisfactory stay.

The location was excellent for us. The facilities were sufficient to meet our needs. The property was very clean and well maintained.The Club was most useful for coffee etc and WIFI. We felt there was a peaceful, safe and secure environment. We would recommend the property to others and would like to visit it again.

nous avons passé les fetes de Noel dans la tranquillité et le confort. L'appartement est agréable, propre et bien equipé.

Il est situé dans un village touristique entre le golf et la mer; naturellement il faut une voiture pour se déplacer. A essayer le chiringuito sur la plage du village, bon rapport qualité/prix.

lovely house with everything in it, like a home from home. Both the bedrooms have balconies with lovely views. You do need a car to get about, but there are plenty of places to visit so you can get your shopping while you are out and you have a comfortable house to go back to.

Penny and Marcus were fantastic, very accommodating, we will be recommending there properties to all our friends

A beautiful place.

The views from the house are just beautiful! You look across the golf course and to the countryside and sea. The house is very spacious which we didn't really appreciate from the photos until we arrived and had everything we needed.

We also loved the area. It is only a few minutes drive from a Spanish town where we found a fantastic local tapas bar which we returned to a few times! We also went to the Sotogrande port which the owner recommended. It felt like Puerto Banus back in time with lovely cafes, cobbled road and the most amazing boats to look at. Definitely worth visiting although a little tricky to find.

We would 100% recommend this house and the owner was very efficient handling our booking and our questions. Looking forward to returning.

The house is a few minutes drive from the beach and amenities such as supermarkets, bars, restaurants, banks, etc. Our home is part of a small exclusive development situated on the hilltop within the Alcaidesa community consequently it affords stunning views.

There is a beautiful communal outdoor pool overlooking the golf course. The large sunny roof terrace of the house gives spectacular uninterrupted views of the golf course, the sea and the surrounding countryside.

The house is a few minutes walk from the brand new luxurious clubhouse of Alcaidesa...and a couple of minutes drive down the hill takes you to the local beach, a 4km stretch of unspoilt beach with a blue flag award.

It is also only a few minutes drive to the famous port of Sotogrande and the typically Spanish town of San Roque.

Golf: Alcaidesa Golf Course retains its status as the only genuine links golf course in Spain. The 13th hole was recently voted one of the top 5 holes in the world on account of it's breathtaking views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the coast line of North Africa in the distance. The New Course Alcaidesa will open at the end of this year and boasts similar stunning views along the coastline.

Just 5 min drive away are the two world class courses at San Roque (The Old and New Courses).

Also minutes away are the renown courses of Sotogrande; The Royal Sotogrande Course, Almenara, La Reserva and, of course the famous Valderrama. Royal Sotogrande is one of the best courses in Europe and is always a pleasure to play. The variety of vegetation gives this course a very special feeling, as it is covered by cork trees, pines and eucalyptus which when combined with the big lakes can make for quite a tricky round of golf.

Valderrama is ranked among the top 100 courses in the world, one of the top 10 in Europe and 1st in Spain.

Lush tree lined fairways and immaculate elevated greens give this course the recognition it so deserves. The best players in the world have played it, and it has also been host to the 1997 Ryder cup.

Just outside the Sotogrande development is the local course of La Canada which offers one of the best value rounds of golf in the area.

Further afield are a host of other beautiful courses.
